Score some runs or get out of the way. This crap approach to batting is unacceptable.
That is all

Over correction by the team after the last test
In reply to Chrissy
Is Tage the best Windies can do?
This youth is not ready for cricket at the international level!
The pair of Brathwaite and Tage should not be at the wicket together.
It's a poor reflection of the state of Windies' cricket if these are the best two openers in the region!
In reply to XDFIX
I noticed that playing Ashwin, he just plants his right leg straight down the pitch and poke. There is no attempt to get the right leg closer to the pitch of the ball and rotate strike...a walking wicket against Ashwin and spinners generally.
I hope he improves on this poor technique.
In reply to XDFIX
Who else is there?
We have 3 days to go, is it better to be out?
In reply to Chrissy
With the Wondies it's either six and out cricket, or block and get out cricket.
No ability to do the basics right.
In reply to Baje
A good question!
18.6
Ashwin to T Chanderpaul, FOUR, another tossed up delivery, Chanderpaul sits down and paddles the ball fine for a four. That was placed very fine
18.4
Ashwin to T Chanderpaul, FOUR, quicker one, down leg, T Chanderpaul laps it fine and beats the man at short fine for a four. That slipped out of the hand of the bowler
In reply to camos
It doesn't make sense to bat all day and no runs on the board!
In reply to XDFIX
Lets bring back Campbell and Solozano!
In reply to Narper
ignore the stupid talk!
We ain't winning this match... Let fellas get net practice... come back tomorrow and lash ball..
In reply to XDFIX
In reply to camos
I have no problem with this initial extreme poking provided he stays there and make a ton
In reply to Narper
He heard me
In reply to Chrissy
Cant make runs from the pavilion
When dem all out for spit you rightly say dem suck....I saw Tage against OZ....and I believe he is capable...I will give him some more time....
In reply to Chrissy
I think so
attrition is an element of test cricket which a lot of fans don't seem to grasp.
What's in a name....
Seriously....when the batsmen are competing...we need collapso cricket desperately..Its 49/0..the best possible score for Wi at the moment...Keep batting...
Cant argue with the call to score more but isn't this what is important in Test and especially relevant to the current West Indies team- occupation of the crease?
Is Shiv son..wha yuh expect from Chrissy
182 to save follow on and people bitching about run rate.
Dem discussing dis now - Ganga really has balls yuh see. I remember him scoring either 10, 11 or 12 in an entire morning session in South Africa
In reply to camos
It ain't worth saving with a run rate below two and they wonder why di blasted ground is empty.
In reply to Chrissy
remember that Ganga innings December 26 1998, my wedding day!
Block the shit out of it. 100%
In reply to Chrissy
Because the masses expect us to be non-competitive and lose... dem nah have hang-ups on run-rate.

The RR is 1.94 after 31.
44444444444444444444444444444444444444
31.3
Siraj to T Chanderpaul, FOUR,and that's lucky! Looks to cut a short ball, outside off, Chanderpaul gets a fat edge and the ball whistles past the sticks for a four
anyway they come
In reply to camos
The entire ground celebrated dat four
444444444444444444444444444444444444444 more
31.6
Siraj to T Chanderpaul, FOUR, to backward square leg bangs the ball short and Chanderpaul goes after it. Went for the pull and got it past the man at long leg fielder for a four. Well controlled and the fact that there was no one at the fence at deep square
In reply to Narper
We'll take it...

In reply to Courtesy
Because of his stance and defensive mindset his bat his coming down around his leg.
I like his temperament, and he seems hungry to play so how can he be 'fixed'
Not easy against spin twins with a mountain of wickets and experience between them bat on paint and varnish
In reply to Brerzerk
This can be fixed easily. I think we should be teaching our young cricketers cricket theory.
Btw, you made a good observation.
See why they block.
This dismissal was always on the cards. That right leg hardly moved.
Look at the dismissal again folks.
Get into di nets
West Indies cricket has gone full circle from being world best to bottom of the pile ,from being the most entertaining to the most boring.
Technically poor these fellas when playing shots. Kraig looks sometimes like he barely times the ball when driving. He tries to force the ball off the square with zero timing.
In reply to Chrissy
In reply to Discourse
Sort it out or see yah!
I done wid di niceties
Chanders dismissal shows tbe diference between india and the wi.indians aint going to do all the hard work then give way the hand
In reply to XDFIX
Like you cyah memba what Braffit was like when he started his test cricket career.
Braffit and Tage cannot bat. That is all.
But when I say it
is because I insular and doh like shiv
Same for Reifer, Chase, & Da Silva
McKenzie looks promising. Look forward to more from him tomorrow
In reply to imusic
When they scored heavily against Zimbabwe many of the posters here declared them the second coming of Greenidge, and Haynes.
In reply to cricketmad
They cant bat
Incapable of playing any other way.
In reply to Chrissy
Tage and Kraigg cannot continue to open, one have to bat at five, they make the bowling look better than it is.
None of them seem to be able to get to the pitch of the ball and drive
Kohli gave them a lesson in batting, hope they both learn from watching him.
In reply to imusic
In reply to Chrissy
Watching Tage bat is like watching two coat of paint drying. Smh.
In reply to openning
Agree, when yuh see Kholi batting yuh recognize that Windies lack batters!
Who would leave their pot on the fire to see Kraigg and Tage bat?
In reply to Chrissy
Get into the nets with Lara Tage, Coley and dad will approve.
To Opening-To be honest if Campbell a. Knew where his Off-stump was
and b. wasn' hiding from JADCO he could've been a good foil for Tage.
The opener who disappointed me lots is Hemraj.
We are chasing 438, with neither bowlers or batsmen to win this game, what is the next best outcome?
In reply to Brerzerk
They both copied some of Shiv batting, what they have not learn is how to give a bowler some of his medicine.
The bowlers just dominate them throughout the inning
Chaderpaul problem is that he has copied his dads stance.
Shivs batting stance was a result of how he was introduced to cricket, the conditions he played in when he was young, his size and physique and probably lack of formal training when he was young.
Tage has a much different physique and height, likely different eye hand coordination etc.
Wish him luck though.
Was rooting for him today at QPO.
In reply to openning I would bet the team tactic was to try batting out the day without losing a wicket, runs and run rate were not factors!
In reply to openning
It is painful to watch. It is a look what we come to
I have nothing against attrition cricket but dat is painful on steroids and boring on opioids. Men blocking half volleys and full tosses - cut di crap. And it's not as if dem beating di field and running ones and twos.
In reply to anansi
Both have Shiv's father's flaw.
When we ran an exercise class on campus, we used to do swimming one day a week. Then one afternoon I was looking at the students from outside the pool and noticed that they had my breast stroke flaw. We brought in a proper swimming coach after dat.
In reply to anansi
was noticing that today, Shiv has wider shoulders and stand more square, but that was a later adjustment in Shiv's game.
WTF do people want,we got a very good start and people complain,is India we playing not Nepal, all ah allyuh complaining bout Tage, remember Kraigg when he started, and look him still deh not much better but not doing a bad job.How many tests Tage play so far 5,6 or 7,I doh know but don't you think he'll get better.Allyuh membe when Viv used to pick some ah his frens,Tage is not a fren pick so give a run.
In reply to granite
No one here said drop him - just pick up di scoring rate.
Dat poking fi poking sake won't win a match
In reply to camos
Thats all well and good, a batsman still should be able to get out and drive.
Kraigg with all these years opening, should not be looking like a 15 year old with no coaching.
I tune in today hoping to see some improvement with Kraigg, he told Bish he have his own personal batting coach, he must have got him from the dollar store.
I am not seeing any movement with Kraigg's style of batting.
He someone I am a fan of.
I don't get his game plan.
Why soak up all those deliveries and then take a rush of blood to the head and give away his wicket again.
South Africa peppered him with the short stuff and he lost his concentration, temperament and eventually his wicket then too
In reply to openning
Getting up off di floor

In reply to camos
You better hope your wife does not see this!!!!!!
You even know cricket was going on?????

In reply to Chrissy

In reply to Windiesfan78
Not a back foot - Tage is no #3 certainly not at this stage. #3 is not a blocker and or poker
In reply to SnoopDog
No ability to do the basics right.
Peeps teaching di basics in dis region?
In reply to Chrissy
What would be his best batting position in the team? Having two batters that bat so slowly makes it painful to watch.
In reply to Windiesfan78
A hard question given the quality of our squad and yuh have factor righties and lefties
In reply to Windiesfan78
Yuh mean not cricket!
In reply to Dukes
Where have you been?
Hopefully that opening partnership is not our best lol but tage got carried away there. Looked a plan until that shot. He gotta watch out he in the chopping block
Tage needs to spend some time with Lara and learn controlled aggression. Or do like his father and seek out old Kanhai...I am sure he can help.
Tage SR for his 33 runs is better than Kraigg's 37
In reply to Kay
Both were poor but Tage was the slower of the two for quite some time.
Neither approach will lead to winning.
If MCKENSIE comes through for the next three to four tests, let him open with Paint. Bring Anthanaze to three and Tage to four.
In reply to anansi
Nice that you went out to the game man. Remember that Shiv changed his stance to meet new needs he never started out like that. Shiv though facing square-leg would get right behind the ball by the time it get to him. He can't do that so he depends on his bat coming down all crooked/Angled to play balls on middle/leg because there is no forward thrust of the front foot.
These posters never satisfied.... average, run rate, strike rate, don't hit ball before lunch.... don't hit after tea....get out , if scoring rate slow...just stick around....
There home must be in mess...surely most above 60 years ... almost all above 50 years...
Bat 180 overs....kill the opposite bowlers...
In reply to granite
Tage cannot continue to bat like that and command respect as an opener!
I am still amazed that folks would find a problem with the openers approach last evening, we have to bat out today to give ourselves a chance to draw this game.
In reply to googley
100% correct
The only thing i see similar with tage and his father at the moment is probally the mannerisms.shiv was a very good player of spin and could rotate strike his son does not
In reply to Chrissy
Had our 5th Boatride last Saturday.
I was exhausted.Made 10K on it and a couple Educators coming to JA August 9& 10 to do 2 day Early Childhood Education Symposium in St. Thomas.
I see the Prodigal has returned!!!LOL
In reply to Dukes
Keep it up
Tage needs to step up a few notches .Blocking, and staying at the wicket without scoring won't cut it.
In reply to cricketmad
Dat is all I am saying. Paint and Tage put way too much pressure on the rest of the team. If dem cyan score boundaries now and then they have to run ones and twos - dis block and poking een wuking.
In reply to Chrissy
You have any word for Blackwood now....he is playing his 57Th test match
Partnership: 22(57)
Jermaine Blackwood 3[27
In reply to Narper
Paint and Tage put too much pressure on Blackwood!
Blackwood is in reverse gear !
Only certain West Indies batsmen get cuss on here. Even Ganga and Bishop were
criticizing Tage. Today they are singing a different tune to grind the opposition down.
In reply to Narper
Same crap up this is not his normal approach
In reply to cricketmad
Correct
Jermaine Blackwood 15(87
Partnership: 15(68 )
Alick Athanaze 12(35
In reply to Ridge
Ganga says very good approach

In reply to Ridge
so true
I was saying from yesterday nothing wrong with the approach, youguy seems to want WI to give India the game?
Blackwood is doing the same thing Dessie did the only time in his career there was a hint of talkabout his dry run, over-poking and that is BS. In Hayne's case there was a match to be won, here they seem tobelieve there's 1 to save...1st Innings!
.
Ambrose said they should show more intent to score.
In reply to Narper they showed more in the first test.
some of you guys need to look at some old games with Underwood bowling 15 straight maidens.
In reply to camos
86.3
Jadeja to Blackwood, out Caught by Rahane!! Rahane has taken a blinder! Blackwood stands in disbelief. Takes a while before taking the long walk back. Pitches outside leg and spins sharply off the rough. Blackwood gets forward to block
Blackwood c Rahane b Jadeja 20(92) [4s-2]
In reply to Narper
Pitched outside leglbw out of the question. So why was he pushing his bat away from his body to block?
Win? West Indies always in survival mode.
Who would pay their money to go to watch this current set of batsmen ?
In reply to JOJO
Pitched outside leglbw out of the question. So why was he pushing his bat away from his body to block?
Blocking mentality now....he got out to an indiscretion the ball before lunch in the first test...he obviously told himself he is not going to out like that again....but his plan B seems to block and block....he needs a REAL batting mentor to sort this out if he is to remain in the WI team
In reply to Chrissy
They all graduates of the Jimmy Adams School of Batting: hanging on for survival.
I noticed it with Bonner, Blackwood, young Chandepaul(Braithwaite was always slow and boring) who all seem to think that merely hanging around as long as possible is what it takes.
Someone need to remind d them that they also need to score runs!
In reply to Narper
Dat is what we cussing about from all a dem.
Jermaine changed his normal approach because in his mind he is trying to save his career.
The truth is dat the vast majority of this group cannot save West Indies. They are ordinary on steroids through no fault of their own.
West Indies cricket has been structurally adjusted. Were playing neo-liberal crickety
Listen Athanaze 37 in 111 balls, yuh tink you is Tage.
All de talk, I prefer 229/5 from 108 overs to 300 all out from 80.
Bish: Braithwaite batted for time, but Tage batted too slow!
In reply to jacksprat
You nailed it - Neo-liberal cricketers - as subservient to foreigners as todays leaders.
In reply to culpepperboy
Dey cud easily be 300 for 5 off 80 overs if the batsmen wud learn to use dere wrists and find gaps in the field. Our players continue to hit powerfully but straight to fielders time and time again
In reply to Maispwi
Dat simple
Additionally 300 all out in 150 overs is still a losing total
In reply to Chrissy
Well 300 all out in 150 overs in de hurricane season is at worst the best part of 2 days and at best some way into day 3. And dat is a good thing when a team is playing not to lose
The batters are all playing well above their qualifications and ability...what is their rank ?
have you all considered that ?
How many West Indies Test players are ranked i n the top 15 on the Table ?
They are punching above their weight against India.
They are doing good against a world Class pair of spinners, two of the best in the world in fact.
I don't see a Kalli, Lloyd Lara or Viv among these.
I done.
In reply to Maispwi
two days to go and a draw here is still a series loss.
300 all out is an Indian lead of 138 with two days to go.
In reply to Chrissyt
would still be a better result than most would expect at the start of the series.
In reply to StumpCam
When Bish remained stone cold silent when a question was posed to him about the make up of the World Cup team, as the team is getting humiliated in 2021-a team loaded with aging, washed up Trinis, Trini coach and captain-spoke volumes about his bias. His comments are mostly meaningless in my view.
In reply to hubert
Look like the fans forget what test cricket is about!
In reply to hubert
We have said this over - we are dealing wid 20 sinting and 30:#sinting batsmen and 30sinting and 40:sinting bowlers
In reply to camos
Test cricket doesn't mean tedious cricket in the modern era.
In reply to Chrissy
I bet you 2 conkies that we winning this match.
all you guys still think the batting is too slow?
In reply to camos
Only the TV experts, Ambrose, Bishop and Ganga, none of whom were particularly good at batting!

In reply to StumpCam I don't listen those guys, they spend most of the time tell India how to get the batsmen out.
In reply to culpepperboy
Get ready to pay up
Ambrose agrees wid me - dis merely occupying di crease is a recipe fi defeat.
Lead 200
In reply to Chrissy
you can't be defeated if you are not out!
In reply to camos
Bro all of their stats show you dat they will be out or they would not be 20sinting and 30sinting batsmen.
In reply to Chrissy
I missed it. What Ambrose said about Tage?
In reply to Kay
You think this thread isjust about Tage - it is a mindset- a failing mindset.
India going at nearly 10 an over.
Two drops now - Gabriel and now MxKenzie
In reply to Chrissy
Getting drop helps, doesnt it?
Tage name get called but look at strike rate for WI batters.
Tage is a slow poke as is Kraigg, but this looks like the Israeli strategy- Occupy. Team strategy perhaps.
In reply to Curtis
Bro I never spare my own. I was focusing on Tages approach. Paint is going nowhere in a hurry and the rest appeared to be doing the same - our people have no confidence because they are Ill- equipped for the job at hand and the stats show us just dat.
In reply to Chrissy
How you want your conkies, with or without raisins?
In reply to culpepperboy
With - truthfully I would love you to win but that isnt likely.
In reply to Chrissy
I was just asking out of poiltenes, because we winning and I want mine with raisins!!
In reply to Chrissy
Hey Prof how have you been? Its been a minute.
A pity that over the years the same problems persist with WI cricket, with little sign of change
In reply to Windiesfan78
