Like most, I wanted another look in of Hetmyer but two consistent failures!!
He has the final ODI to show us if he still has in so far as ODI's are concerned. If he still does not deliver, then young guns like McKenzie need to be exposed as we rebuild for the next World Cup cycle.

Hetmyer Fails Again
In reply to Hendra
But he's young
In reply to Hendra
Agreed!
I'm not sure he knows why he's in the 50 over set up considering we didn't qualify for this coming WC!
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Young but a veteran in this team. He should be a leader whom newbies like Athanaze can draw from
In reply to Hendra
If you are given fair chances and you fail ....you go.
This should apply to ALL players
Why cant the selectors understand that ODIs and T20s are NOT the same
He should not have been selected for ODIs at tis time..
He should have been recalled for the T20s only....as he has been playing T20s almost year round.
.
In reply to Narper
Exactly!
T20's is where he's at. Simple. In fact he shouldn't play the 3rd ODI.
In reply to Narper
But he is there and is hardly likely to be dropped for the final ODI as the replacement could only be .... Rovman. I think that he is batting out of position. He should be batting at NO 6 where he will probably be more comfortable in having hopefully to bat out no more than 10 overs. Carty should be #3 (if he is not dropped again for Rovman), Hope #4 and Athas #5. Athas needs to bat between the two most experienced players in Hope and Hety
In reply to Hendra
Don't forget that Carty had to guide us to a Win in the U19 W/C after Hetty got out trying to hit 6s.
In reply to Hendra
By a mile Hetty is still the best batter in the region. Please take a good look at how he shapes up and get the ball easily away for singles. None of your so call batters can't even dream to doing that. Stop judging cricket by stats alone

Houston, Hetmeyer has had a problem at Kensington Oval lately against these teams. Will he improve? No one knows.
All I know is: those Countries have done their homework in the IPL and at Kensington Oval on him when playing for Cricket West
Indies in ODIs.

Best batter?
I have to say it we need productivity this is what wins matches
For Hetty to commit to the brand he needs to feel wanted. a couple of failures is not the way to go. He's a top talent so pursue with him they shall
I agree with you. Hetmyer got picked into the team on past performance . He doesn't train nor practise now so what use is he tovthe team. Until he gets back to the drawing board , he should not be considered .
In reply to Keibo
Yes, we will judge by performance only.
In reply to Osmond
Quarter-Finals vs Pakistan-Hetmyer 52 off 42 (Carty 7) West Indies WON
Semi-Finals vs Bangladesh-Hetmyer 60 off 59 (Carty 22) West Indies WON
Finals vs India-Hetmyer 23 off 53 (Carty 52* off 125) West Indies WON
Now do you think we now have a better perspective of what actually took place more than 7 years ago?????
In reply to tc1
EXCEPT when it comes to Sir Carl!!!!!!!

In reply to tc1
Yes, we will judge by performance only.
Some people make the maths easy lol
In reply to Dukes
Based on that too.
Nothing of them should be in the squad at all times and WI ein.
In reply to Dukes
Is Heymeyer the most overhyped player in WI cricket history?
In reply to FanAttick
No. That honor belongs to Blackwood
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Who is hyping Blackwood? If anything Blackwood is underhyped!
If Blackwood were from Bim he would have a stand named for him at Kensington Oval
In reply to FanAttick
ASk IPL why they pay him a $1M plus for a couple of months per yr.....must be hype

This Hetty thing is not a major issue and we can fix easily. Let us replace him with a BIM player. After all we still have a latent quota system in place.
In reply to Atl_View
Its not latent....its very active and current.
In reply to Narper
Why is it every time someone speaks about a player oh look how much money he's making. Ok he making that now if his performance drops would it still be that?
In reply to Narper
History is not on the side of those who correctly called out the Emperor for being naked !!! So yes, we do have a "hidden" science to selection.
In reply to positiveg
Context my friend.
If someone says a player is overhyped....it is fair to ask ...if he is overhyped why is he being paid millions year after year by the premier cricket league in the world....he is obviously being paid for his skills and not how he looks.
A lot of times we teach our sportsmen how to be rich not how to be wealthy. So chase short term gains now then in 5 years down the road they got nothing to show for it.
In reply to Narper
He's being paid to perform a certain role. That role isn't what he's been paid or asked to play in the present squad. So the does he need to be shifted into another role as in one he's paid for in the IPL or the player plays the role he's paid to do in the current set up.
I wouldn't call him hyoed or over hyped I juat need him to perform at the level at which we all expect him from him
In reply to positiveg
After more than a decade...Gayle, Russel, Pollard, Narine, Bravo..are still millionaires and some still in demand....certainly this is not short term
In reply to positiveg
Don't you think he understands that.
Hetty has been playing T20s ONLY for the last few years at the league level....Only last week he was actively involved in T20 Major League Cricket in US and came straight to Bim... thrown into ODIs against a top ranked ODI team...with some of the best spinners in the world....and fans here expect him to immediately dominate the attack...come on...be realistic...
In reply to Narper
They paid 2.1 Million for this guy
Proves the point that IPL is not real cricket
In reply to FanAttick
NO
RICARDO POWELL IS!!!!!!!!~!

In reply to Narper
Why shouldn't fans expect result? Isn't he the best bet in Caribbean especially against spinners? Further if he was not ready/prepared as you suggests, well it just bolsters philo's question: what was the basis for his selection.
Can't have it both ways. If CEO says play regionals to be eligible eligible wunnuh frets. When they bring him in cold sunny mek excuses
In reply to FanAttick
Absolutely true. The ipl is one big gamble. Many big money players were duds.
And will continue to fail because this is not pick cricket like he played around the world this is a more serious cricket game .
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Name the posters here who called for his selection in the middle of the tour? And why ODIs....why de quack selector boss didn't wait for the T20Is.?
In reply to Narper
Sir Dukes and his merrymen were adamant, theg even wanted him and pooran to play test cricket. They cussed whe he wasn't selected for qualifiers. If you want to withdraw hour name that's fine
In reply to FanAttick
What happened after that big pay out?
Was his contract renewed?
If so was it the same as the first?
Methinks if you get 4 consecutive million dollar contracts you must be doing something correct particularly if two separate clubs bid more than a million for you on 2 separate occasions.
Or perhaps not?
What do you think?
In reply to Dukes
I dont follow lickit
I dont even follow 50 over lickit anymore
Im exclusively a test cricket connoisseur
..
In reply to Keibo
Best batter is measured by statistics
Hety say some allyuh should haul ayuh rass
In reply to Chrissy
Just like tennis players are measured by statistics, right
I think that Pooran is a better batsman than Hety. I do not judge Hety by these two failures as he is being asked to perform a different role in ODIs batting at #5 than in club cricket batting as a finisher. That said, the measure of a great batsman is how quickly he can assume the role that he is called upon to play.
In reply to Narper
Thanks for introducing some sanity to this conversation. Two failures after not playing ODIs for a while and folks start complaining

In reply to PalsofMine
Here rushed the Dukester to the defence

In reply to imusic
Dukes like everyone else is entitled to an opinion, even a bad one!
Give Hetmyer some time to get back into it.
In reply to nick2020
Practice make perfect, if you practice hitting sixes and not batting, don't care what format you are playing, your muscle memory would take over.
i am all for giving Hety a chance. It is a big step forward that he is once more in the side and if he can play to his potential, we will have a formidable middle order in white ball cricket with him, Hope, Pooran, Athas and Carty.
Hettie fails for the third time. Made no impact on the series. Isn't it time to tell. Hettie thank you and move on?
In reply to Hendra
Don't even deserve thanks.
In reply to Hendra
Careful now. De krazy Guyaneze coming fuh you with their statistics.
Sammy smiling, he enjoying the licks
In reply to Ridge
Quite true. Just ensure those NoC's are signed though!
