INDIA stand-in captain Hardik Pandya had some harsh words for Cricket West Indies (CWI), criticising the board’s travel arrangements. However, not only was the India team affected as West Indies players and commentators also had to endure a flight delay.
Pandya, who is filling in for captain Rohit Sharma, was speaking after the third One Day International between West Indies and India at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Tuesday.
India are in the Caribbean for two Test matches, three ODIs and five T20 Internationals.
According to reports, India had a long wait at the Piarco International Airport in Trinidad after the second Test match on their way to Barbados for the first ODI.
“I think it’s time for West Indies Cricket to take note of it and ensure that when a team travels…we don’t ask for luxury, but need some basic necessities taken care of. Other than that, I really enjoyed coming here and playing some good cricket.”

Next time we'll subject him to a ferry ride like we did to the Banglas on their 2022 tour.

or our guys must complain if they get Delhi belly when in India. Perhaps he needs to understand that this is not a perfect region like Mother India but we try!

Anyone under 30 yrs old will from the international cricket world would not understand the poverty in the West Indies. It is an opportunity to advocate for change with our Gov'ts to provide the basics for the people.

Come on...is this a bash? Are these harsh words??? And is he asking for too much?

things have come full circle; I remember when WI players would skip Indian tours because accommodation and food was less than accustomed to.

When it comes to regional travel, we seem to be in a worse position than we were a decade or two ago. I understand the teams frustration with the travel arrangements. We also had the Bangladesh team complaining about the ferry ride. Considering the problems with regional travel, I questioned why the first test was played in Dominica and not in a country with direct flight from the UK. Anyone who has traveled to Dominica
and to Roseau
knows what a hassle this could be.

And to travel to Dominica has improved in teh last 3 years with more flights with less connections to the country.
I think an airline delay of 1hr isn't going to harm a team or put them in a position to lose a match
This is all bs as a way for the Indian captain to downplay the fact that they were beaten by the West Indies.
Instead of saying oh we were beaten by a better team on the day you bring some off the field comment that not only affected you, but the other team and commentators
For this I hope they lose the entire series 5 nil.

Seriously? You really think this mild observation of a negative experience is some elaborate excuse for losing a T20 by 4 runs?
This is why this region will never get a hold of its problems. Any observation that is not glowing praise is interpreted as these foreigners doh like us.

What 1 hr ????
It was in the late night for 4 hrs....
The India and West Indies teams, along with commentators, were scheduled to leave Piarco at 11 pm on the same flight, but did not leave until 3 am.
BTW....the WI team should have protested too....but I guess they were scared of the repercussions.
You know in Canada now...there is a law that airlines must compensate passengers for such type delays..

I always give CWI hell, but airline delay is out of their control.

The delay should have lasted more than
a few hours. Then we should have missed placed their luggage and transported them the longest route to the stadium on game day.

As well as playing loud music outside their hotel until wee hours in the morn.

I was made to understand that it was a charter company that was transporting the teams. Only way u should wait for a charter service, is if the aircraft arrive at the station approximately when the teams arrived at the airport with a maintenance issue.
Otherwise, if the charter is running 4 hrs late, someone should have called the liaison officer and notify them of the delay and the teams should have been kept at their hotel until it was time to go straight onboard the aircraft.

If this guy is complaining about cricket grounds in Trinidad, where the best grounds are in the West Indies, I have to wonder what he would say if he had to play at Sabina Park, Jamaica. Sabina Park has become one of the worst cricket venues in international cricket. No wonder they seem to have stopped playing international matches there. Just looking at a simple thing like laying out a rectangular shape for the pitch, you would figure these guys never did geometry in school, as well as aesthetically challenged. And that's just one problem with the venue. And that's the "five star" venue in Jamaica.
