Three-time Olympian Kirani James will lead a four-member Grenada team at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, according to the final entry list published by World Athletics.
James is the most experienced member of the team, having competed at the London, Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games and 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019 and 2022 World Championships.
He missed out on the 2017 World Championships due to illness. He is the most decorated 400-metre runner in history, winning gold, silver and bronze medals at both Olympic Games and World Championships.
The team also include two-time Javelin World champion, Anderson Peters; Commonwealth Games Decathlon champion, Lindon Victor and female sprinter Halle Hazzard.
Grenada
With Brathwaites absence, Barbados representation in Hungary narrows down. Only world 400m bronze medalist Sada Williams, Jonathan Jones, and DeSean Boyce will now represent the Caribbean nation at the world track and field championships from 19-27 August.
Shane Brathwaite injured

McPherson did not make the Ja team?
In reply to Brerzerk
remember virtually the same thing happened with coleman in 2019. he actually missed 3 tests in 12 months but the backdated the first test so that he could run in the champs in doha in 2019. people are till doping.....tbh i was suspicious of amusan the minute she broke the record in the semis last year. But T&F is having a lot of trouble attracting interest in the post bolt era, you can thank the drug cheats of the 80s and 90s and early 2000s for that. And outside of bolt and asafa and possibly blake pre-injury, it was struggling to attract people. If gay and gatlin were at an event without bolt or asafa or blake, the interest would be low. I saw enough diamond league meets to realize it wasn't an aberration
In reply to Kay
A different report said Aliyah Abrams was also representing Guyana. Has this changed and if so, where is that covered?

Yeah, i remembered she qualified back in April but don't know why her name is not included in that list.
In reply to Kay
It IS in the list. You have to scroll wayyy down the list to the women's section to find it.

.
In reply to FanAttick
Very, is Blake on the relay squad? If he is and can be at his best there's a chance for a 4x1 mens medal
In reply to FanAttick
yes he was very relaxed. and he is young but... Save it all for the finals. pb slowing down in round one is no joke. He needs to get a good start in the finals and then he can medal
In reply to rudebway
Thing is he shut it down. Doubt he was trying to go that fast. Remember he was running then got injured and scraped the last qualifying spot after not running between injury & trials. He hasn't been seen since trials. More than likely working his way back to fitness.
In reply to Brerzerk
Ackeem Blake is in the squad. But i know you meant Yohan, so no. And i hate to say it but Yohan is a spent force.

in fortunate circumstances..wow.
Have missed a lot but thanks to you I will catch up. I almost forgot that the Worlds started today
but luckily I checked to see Mikesiva's regular posting
I detest USA commentators on soccer, track and field. I use the mute button for them.
In reply to rudebway
No Rudie I did mean Ackeem who like Seville didn't really impress @ trials
In reply to mikesiva
Looking at the team, we may do better in the Field than on the track.
I expect no more than 6 medals though. The competition will be very tough
this year as many countries are catching up in what were our better events.
In reply to Brerzerk
yup.. i see something along the line of Ackeem to Watson to Ryiem Forde to Seville
Well from Oblique Seville's own mouth. He expected 9.9 or 10.
Jesus! Just saw an interview where Demish Gaye said he thought hevran a good relay leg SMDH!!!
In reply to michaelmax
Saw a re run and he looked good and easy..fast time for a first round tho.
Hope he has much more in the tank.Should make the final.

In reply to rudebway
Very odd. Today Ato was being very Bishop-sequel too. The English fella had to say Omanyala had eased down. Then he switched his mout and gave objective critique of Lyles win All about Murca it seems. Any reason a man would choose lane7
In reply to rudebway
You know the runnings but they are using lanes 2-9, so it is in effect lane 6.
To think of it only 1 on his outside.tougher or better view of competition?

The finals will be epic. Was worried about Shellys injury but she looks fine. And yes, from 2008 to now, sweet bubbly personality. Lots of vibes.

Parchment needs a better start in the finals
Seems just at the point of hurdling Broadbell decided to change his lead leg. Like to see it again
In reply to Faloony & Brerzerk
Unbelievable
Agree totally
Semi final 2 women stacked - Sherika, ShaCari and Talou,
We should get at least three girls in the final, first two guaranteed so second semi will be fast, Shelly will benefit, what a La La

It should b a ripper if they all get to the Final. Pity the Best is not involved.
On the Men's side, if Kerley gets to the final he will Medal too. He's a sleeper and dangerous

Great run from Lyles
Poor run from Watson
In reply to mikesiva

Shocking
In reply to FanAttick
excellent from Seville. He eased down towards the end. Hope he replicates in the finals. What parish is he from again?
In reply to rudebway
Nice run from Seville indeed
In reply to rudebway
Excellent indeed and he was easing down a bit too..top end speed looks
good !!!.
Seville!!! Seville!! Seville!!!
and, and, and it looks like he has more in the tank.
Seville have conserved energy for the final, my keen eyes says he will be in top two, I like him for the win, Coleman is the danger.
In reply to FanAttick
Had a ? mark on him..looked like he was saving something in all his races.
Seville , aptly named ....Will he follow the Spanish women's feat ????
In reply to rudebway
Kerley cussing some breed a bad wud
In reply to hubert
Lets hope
Wow! Kerley out
In reply to bedydread
Was it Coleman that visited Bolt recently. ?? He could be the man
but I like Seville if he gets the timely start.
In reply to FanAttick
Yes..Did not take a lip reader/..you could hear him
In reply to hubert
No Hubie, it was Lyles, I think he will run well but run out of room in the final plus of all the winners he used up the most energy going into the final, dont be surprised if he does not medal.
Did not see Lyles race but Coleman and Seville look good.
In reply to hubert
exactly. if he doesnt get stuck in the blocks like the last WC, look out. And you are right. importantly, he saved some energy in the semis
again for the finals he is in lane 7.
In reply to rudebway
Glen Mills seems to have him set
Who would scream dem head off if Seville wins dis?
In reply to Chrissy
For sure I man Chrissy
In reply to Chrissy
:
Would be 1st individual mens flat sprint medal that Yard got since Bolts bronze in London 2017!!!
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes, Seville is poised to win it all. He has to watch out for a late surge from Lyles and Hughes tho. I'm not too worried about Coleman.
Prediction:
Lyles 9.88
Seville 9.91
Coleman 9.93
Corrected. Of course I meant 9!
Pre-race NBC'S COMMIES mentioned only 2 names, Lyles, Coleman
In reply to Brerzerk
Told ya'll
Thought it would be faster
In reply to Chrissy
Congrats Lyles
Seville had a poor start
4 in a row
USA USA USA
In reply to Barry
9:58
Had luck Seville
In reply to FanAttick
Thats great for Yams but 4 in a row
In reply to FanAttick
Seville was running too fast in the rounds. Would not have beaten Lyles still.
A little more complex than that
In reply to Da-Vincy
Lyles 9.88
Seville 9.91
Coleman 9.93
I knew it! Amongst these 3 guys, I got the order right!
In reply to nitro
Nerves got the better of him
In reply to FanAttick
In reply to Brerzerk
They are jerks, as per usual. Happy for Hughes ..
Yes Seville ran hard in previous races; maybe a lack of experience but he shows wonderful speed for the
future.
Coleman disappointed but that young man from Botswana ,TEBOGO will be a top shelf soon..
Huge big up for Lyles. I think Bolt thought highly of him sometime ago.
Overall I thought the time would have been better.
In reply to FanAttick
Looks like we will struggle to get my predicted 8 medals.
In this 100m form Lyles is looking good to beat that 200m record.
In reply to nitro
He ran 9.86, 9.90, 9.88. Basically the same times. He ran the same time as 3rd place. Wonder how he would have progressed without an injury truncated season. He was running 9.9 consistently. Now he can run 9.8s. Mills always operates on a FOUR year programme. This is yr3. 2 finals. 2 4th places. Down from 9.9s to 9.8s. Next year will be interesting if he can stay healthy. THAT is the issue.
Well done guys, well done Seville represented, no shame in the time , oh if you were not injured so late in the season, next year Olympics bro, the JA males are back.
Congrats Hughes, Lyles and Tebogo starts were incredible and showed in the result.
In reply to michaelmax
Yes. His health was , and will be a factor going forward. Look out for him in the Olympics if he stays
on course. Was concedrned about his earlier times and his start. He did well, all things considered.
In reply to nitro
We'll see. Bolt ran 9.69 to do 19.30 and 9.58 to run 19.19. 9.83 is a little off from those and in that 19.19. Bolt's form fell apart at 130m. Lyles will have to be either must faster off the curve or holding the speed longer.
In reply to nitro
Yes for sure. The record will be under threat as this is his Lyles special event and he is the
mood and mind set.
Should be interesting.
In reply to hubert
Yep.When I saw him in the Olympics in 2021, he only made the semis but you could SEE the talent. Last year we noticed the tape on the back of the leg and looked like he tweaked something in the semis. This year, was running and then had to pull out of Racer's Grand Prix. Barely made it through trials. He just needs ONE injury free season.
In reply to bedydread
Thanks. I mixed him up with Coleman. Usain probably gave him his blessings too as he was
impressed by him a few years ago when he first ran a 100m being a specialist over the
200m previously.
In reply to michaelmax
Ok, thanks for the info Comrade.
In reply to nitro
I too have to adjust from 7 downward. Was backing Seville to medal but he did well
in a blanket finish 9.88 for 4th.
Up to the Women to get the Tally once again.Eight medals is still on the cards for you.
In reply to nitro
My prediction of at least 30 is looking a bit shaky as well.

4x1 M prett iffy
4x4 W disappointment coming?
4x4 M wouldn't dare to predict expecially with mgt. team selection BS
400m H M no Medal
400m H Women also ran
Triple Jump Women 1... Your 7 is still on course Nitty.I don't think Lyles will get to the record just yet. When Bolt set it his 100m times were in the 10.5-10.6 range. Means on a slower track Lyles top-end speed would have to be significantly greater than Usain's.
In reply to Brerzerk
You mean 9.5-9.6 range. What about men's TJ and Jaydon Hibbert?
We have 3 9.9 and one 1 9.8 runners for the men's 4x1. So a medal is possible with proper passes as the foot speed is there.Of course we don't always line up our relays optimally.

Thanks. Clearing my schedule to watch today now that Women's WC football is out of the way.
The women are once again expected to bring the most prizes for the country.
Very proud and appreciative of them and hope they will flourish again for the rest of this Campaign.
The men are gradually getting better so Post Bolt, hopes are a bit higher now.
In reply to hubert
The real problem we will face in the future will be the rivalries among the increasing number of eat a food academies.
In reply to Chrissy
Well we have always had the coaching camp shenanigans , particularly related to Stephen Francis. Allegedly, he would threaten to pull his superstar from the 4 x 100 womens relay if his lesser accomplished runner wasnt given a relay leg. The womens 4 x1 has always been drama and ego
In reply to rudebway
That cost us a WR in '09 when surprisingly itvwas VCB who was the prima-donna who pouted and sat out the race. Actually watched from the stands
In reply to Chrissy
You nailed it..It is grave concern even now.Everyone wants to be a STAR, and think they are it.
In reply to rudebway
Its getting worse
Gwan my girl Rochelle Clayton
In reply to Chrissy
2 Jamaican women advancing so far in the 400mH
Heat 1 - Clayton
Heat 2 - Russell
In reply to DukeStreet
Russell was impressive
In reply to Chrissy
Yes she was... And like they said, since the 400mH is now evolving into more of a sprint event, it favours sprint nations like Jamaica.
In reply to Chrissy
Rochelle, spell-checker is a You know what. Only recognizes their names and language/spelling
And here comes #3 Knight
In reply to DukeStreet
Has always been a sprint since beginning of time...Edwin Moses, Winthrop Graham, Lashinda Demus, Deon Hemmings
In reply to Brerzerk
LOL
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes, I know. I meant to say it is evolving into more flat out speed to carry folks through now along with technique. Look at the record times lately.
Bol changed leading leg from hurdle to hurdle. Seemed in a short hurdles race Broadbell suddenly decided to try that mid-race if not mid-stride, impossible
In reply to DukeStreet

Phenomenal times nowadays. Trying to remember how Hyde's times stack up to Graham's from a Yard and era point of view
Hyde wont advance.
Yard just salt this year? Hibbert seemed to have almost pulled up! Hyde needs to go under 48! That Jamaican record was set in the early 90's

Shericka is fine tuned and shelly, after a sluggish start used some top end to
get ahead and cruised.
In reply to hubert
Sherica was focused and Ta Lou is still a force. ShaCarri, immensely talented but she still needs to screw her head on straight.
In reply to hubert
Shelly saving the knee for the final.
In reply to FanAttick
I should wait until after the final but 3yrs ago someone "Did Said" "a certain country worried...".
Shericka playing possum? Oh Gawd how I wish Elaine was Elaine this meet
In reply to DukeStreet
Yes sir..If and when she does, if she ever. Then she will be ruling this vent. still very young and
her top end speed is second to none.
So as you said, when she gets her head on straight.
She will be a force in the final. She is still learning rounds strategy.
Come on Morrison you can get a final slot

In reply to FanAttick
Yes .Went sub50..She can medal and I hope she does.Looks confident too.
In reply to mikesiva
McLeod did. The women have to be trained or learn to run the 400m tactically..
Know how to pace the first 200 and the last 200 with special resource in the final 100.. Takes special training for it
to come together.
Ok Parchie.Medal please. You can.

That's what I thought he would get. Holloway owns this event.
Good on you Parchie..always make us proud.
In reply to FanAttick
Parchie is not and never will be that great a starter. Hard to unwind that 6'5" frame.

In reply to FanAttick
Lane 9 helped her. She was not close to the top ones as in the semis where she froze in the blocks. Hope she noticed that shutting up and running brings results.
In reply to Chrissy
The women 100m gets more competitive every year.

Fantastic run Sha'carri. Well done to our ladies.
In reply to FanAttick
Shacarri had a Jamaican woman- surely she loves
In reply to imusic
Agree. The sportsmanship was great. And it wasnt just for a quick camera shot. They carried on for a while
In reply to Chrissy
But nuh yuh did predict it? You Did Said she'd win
a lot this yr. and Dukes reminded to put objectivity over emotion.
Looking to see if she can get down to and handle consistent 10.6's
In reply to imusic
A tremendous lot of Grace and Humility has attended this game.
Hasan and Bol took their falls in stride and blamed no one. Holloway/Broadbell and lots more.
The only nonsense I've seen is Goulie trying to put our mixed relay last place squarely on being
'bounced' out of the way and Demish Gaye conceitedly claiming to have ran a good leg even though
handing over in last and way last too
In reply to hubert
Damn
Even if they had seen her there was nothing they could have done. She did well. Give her credit.

Guyana needs to invest som eof de oil money in education and sports
Education for prosperity
Sports for unity
In reply to Brerzerk
Yep but I still wanted JA gold
In reply to WI_cricfan
Couldn't agree more. I remember when Marion Joes was winning, dem Belizean people biult a big ass stadium in her name in Belize and when the news broke on her, the place fell into disrepair and abandonment. At least they had the foresight, impetus and push to build on her intitial success. Let's see if Guyana invests along similar lines. We do have many talented people there but little support.

In reply to DukeStreet
Whole lot a credit..But remember how she was slow out the block when she was nexct to Shericka in
the Semi ? She was a bit frazzled by the closeness.
Had they been close again going head to head down the stretch, perhaps Shericka woulda would have
found something extra as she thought she had the race won when she came close to the line.
But weed head is a force and much younger than the Jamaican trio.
Shericka will atone with gold in 200
In reply to hubert
Give the devil wha de devil due...When ShaCarri was getting a buss ass last year, she got called out, as she was supposed to. Now she's slowly tunning de corner, everbody find excuses. I am def not a ShaCarri supporter but I do see progress with her. She's still a head case but she's not the same ShaCarri as the one from last year.

Ah waiting on the drug report....
wait Sheika wait Sherika wait
In reply to johndom90
nah... she always had speed. Class, no. But speed, yes.
In reply to rudebway
Honestly today Id only be suspicious of an athlete if they missed drugs tests like Coleman and Amusan. The test procedures kinda full proof now. They usually test dated samples as well so that is probably a bit of a deterrent to would be dopers. That being said, her coach was banned for taking testosterone and coached Just Gatlin. Even a few of the American T&F people raised their eyebrows when it was announced that Denis Mitchell was her coach. But I dont think shes doping.
In reply to DukeStreet
not a likeable person. but quite a performance. cant wait to see her splits.
In reply to Jumpstart
i concur.

But I dont think shes doping. In reply to Jumpstart
I adopting the attitude that the Yanks had towards Bolt et al..
Forever suspicious ah them.
sometimes 3-4 years later we does get the real testing for the yanks.....
what is she name has had a noticeable eyebrow raising habit of missing big shotta meets.
akin to Narine not wanting to play for West Indies because he might get call.....
I have to see more ah she ,plenty more until she prove she ent the Britney Spears of Track

In reply to hubert
In reply to johndom90
Unnecessary man. She buss out doing 10.7's so this time was always coming.
Remember when Aaafa's 9.74 was the world record and Bolt's 2nd ever 100
in life was 9.72 the 1st being 9.76. There are some with special talent that if managed and maximized will yield what we just saw.
Remember lil Shelly-Ann in 08' if focused and some other very special talent doesn't come along her natural speed could turn her too into a five-timer. I hope not because I want Yardies to protect Shelly's stellar record.
Watch Tebogo. I saw the two Jamaican teenagers answer questions and the future is bright.
Wise talented kids, wise beyond their yrs.Ford n Hibbert
In reply to Brerzerk
Tell dem. Anyone who was watching this objectively could have seen that this was quite likely to happen.
In reply to Chrissy
Changing of the Guard. Next year will be 20 year old Davis first year pro,Alfred first year pro, Richardson and Jackson fighting for 3 medals. In the 100. Alfred won't have tired NCAA legs. Davis won't have Junior circuit legs, Jackson will be pumped after today and Richardson has to defend.
In reply to johndom90
Anybody coached by denis Mitchell Im very suspicious of
In reply to Scar
An if Elaine has her head and body right she'll want to emulate Bolt's 3-peat on the women's side.
In reply to Scar
Yep.
That false false start affected Alfred. By the way the daughter of a good friend wrote a great thesis on NCAA and the treatment of foreign athletes.
In reply to DukeStreet
The Caribbean has many talented athletes but the systems( with the exception of JA, Bahamas and surprisingly Barbados) are poor, extremely archaic and prone to boys clubism. This dude who won the 400mH in Rio and was part of two Olympic gold 4x4 relays, Kerron Clement, was born in Trinidad and spent the first 11 years of his life in TT. Apparently he also wanted to represent us and made contact with the NAAAs ..who never got back to him and he represented the USA and did very well for them.

Ah waiting on the drug report....
wait Sheika wait Sherika wait cool
Sherika does take drugs? oh that explains the improvement

In reply to Brerzerk
Very pleased and encouraged with the progress of those youngsters.
Roshawn Clarke is special .His 47.34 to set Junior WR and erase a long standing Graham's
JA mark in the 400M H, is phenomenal performance and he could Medal in the Final too.
That young man Tebogo will be a force next year. Just hope they all enjoy good health and
remain injury free as Paris 2024 could see some WR performances.
I don't think anyone will beat Sha'Cari is she gets her head right. She seems most likely to erase
Flo Jo's mark in the 100 as her top end speed is excellent.
She always was very fast but is just now coming into full bloom.
In reply to Scar
A year is a long time in the 100, there are four, five girls just under the radar in Jamaica alone, in addition to a possible reemergence of ET.
In reply to hubert
Flo Jo's mark in the 100 as her top end speed is excellent.
if she does that then we know she's taking drugs.
In reply to rudebway
all the same, shericka and shelly were glorious in defeat....i would have never been that classy if it was richardson i lost to. Gabby Thomas certainly, but not the weed head
Baby was equally glorious in her victory
why would anybody slander a Princess
we dont own her life
By the way nobody can track all drugs
when Ato realized that his coach used him as a rabbit, he nearly died
drugs, practice, wash over time has worked for many..
In reply to Jumpstart
That goes for anyone. Can you also imagine Flo Jo running on today's technologically improved tracks and specialized shoes? She would have been posing 10.35 sec 100m times. Amazing when you think about it.

In reply to DukeStreet
yuh mean she'd have gotten caught
In reply to Chrissy
Have firsthand narrative on that from close friends
In reply to Jumpstart
That too.
In reply to DukeStreet
lol yeah.......carl lewis said she sounded like louis armstrong in 88, and the dude who won gold in 84 and silver in 88 in the 800m said the following

the athletes know what you can test for, which is why testing old samples is a great idea provided they don't view drugs that were not on the prohibited list at the time or the original sample as a positive test.

3) Danielle Williams (Jca) 12.51

there are people in that race that should not be there......anybody who miss 3 tests shouldn't be there but i doh make the rules
Foolish to carry on a mindless tirade over drugs that you cant test for- you start accusing everyone- and you still cant beat..Koch who used the anabolic steroid Oral-Turinabol (4-Chlorodehydromethyltestosterone) from 1981 to 1984 with dosages ranging from 530 to 1460 mg/year.
In reply to Jumpstart
I do think Flo-Joe may have gotten 'some help'
However, looking more like a man doesn't mean steroids/drugs.
Young lil Sherika 'Wia' (wire) Jackson the bronze medalist in O8/09 Olympics/Worlds
was a skinny kid. As she transitioned to shorter sprints her training regime changed.
Even men, look at a pic of Viv @ 23 and Viv @ 40 it will either be lost muscle mass
and more fat or increased bulk from training.
3RD fastest wow, Harrison! 12.5 good run Willie. Bahamian even better 12.4!
In reply to Jumpstart
Amusan lucky to be there. To miss one test is unfortunate, to miss two is careless, and to miss three is damn tiefing!
Heat Five
1) Tobi Amusan (Nigeria) 12.48
2) Megan Tapper (Jca) 12.51
In reply to mikesiva
How many tests Campbell missed for that two-year ban from cricket?
In reply to Barry
everybody knows the east germans had a sophisticated doping regime. and i don't think anybody believes koch's records are legit, not even germans. Up to earlier this year an irish news article was talking about how bogus her record was. In fact, when seb coe became president of the iaaf, he had proposed scrapping all the world records from the 80s that still existed because they were shrouded in doping. It actually received a lot of support but a few ppl threatened to sue and the plan died there and then. Also, flo jo retired in 1988 and soon after mandatory out of competition drug testing became the rule. That to me is more than a little suspicious.
Another thing is that the chemist in charge of testing at the 84 olympics and 88 olympics said he decided some time in the early 2000s to test the samples from those two meets, and he said they found ten times more that what they found in the 80s. So much so that he said that he'd leave what he found there. this is before test old samples became the rule
So what are the chances of the reigning womens hurdles world record holder and champion beating the allegations?
Fameso explains further: From what I know, during Tobis third missed test, the tester did not really do too much to confirm she was at that location.
Tobi moved to another apartment and when the tester didnt see her, he/she immediately said Tobi was not available for testing.
Because of Tobis pedigree as a world champion, she is tested more than others like she stated in her press release. Theres a rumour in the industry that she has been tested up to 20 times this year, of which she allegedly missed only two.
So if the story of the third tester not doing enough to confirm her location is true, then she stands a high chance of escaping the ban.
The jury or Court deciding the case will ask if the tester followed the right protocols before declaring it a missed test.
In reply to Barry
i understand that.....but you never heard of bolt, asafa, blake, torpeo thompson, jereem or any of the other caribbean athletes being pulled up for wherabout failures. missing three tests is more than slackness
the thing is, the athletes know now that you can toill be caught years after the meet. As of 2019, 60 athletes and 6 gold medalists had been retroactively caught cheating from london 2012 alone
In reply to Jumpstart
Im not sure of the chemist you noted- the discovery was recorded in saved theses-but I read in your newspapers of a man criticizing Hasely preparing for 1980s
the man who won was deep into drugs
according to the BBC
McMaster secretly recorded exchanges with Ledingham, who allegedly supplied the anabolic steroids Stromba or stanozalol to Wells over six years
In reply to camos
Nuh seh nutt'n. You see this woman saying because AIU tested her few days before WADA came calling for the third time that's ok? SMDH!
Some ah dem same one pon here discounted JADCO testing but now wanna elevate AIU over WADA. Hypocrites.
In reply to Jumpstart
The suspicious of doping was not the only thing surrounding the 10.49. There was also the 0.0 wind. I think there were many studies on that. It was windy all day and if I recall correctly that was the only race with 0 wind
Back to the 80s . There was a lady from the Czech Republic Jaramila Kratachilova. If you are not aware of her, check her out. She might still have the 800m record.
Back to the Germans, there was a fallout where one of the runners was screwing one of the officials and hence got extra dosages of drugs. I think it was dianabol. The other runners complained that she was getting extra. Too funny
Lovely Rochelle
In reply to Jumpstart
I was actually surprised how classy they were. Last year, if you recall, after she missed the Olympics and was scheduled to run in Oregon. She did a spot in a beauty salon and said I am back it is game time bitches. I thought that was quite classless to refer to your fellow competitors as bitches. Not something I have heard before. Might be a function of age and social media . But Shelly and Shericka seem cool with her so oh well.

completely different from online cass-cass
And probably the answer. I think it is age. Also note Elaine posted some seriously sad cryptic messages when Tori Bowie died. Behind that million dollar smile and sweet personality was a lot of pain.
But to my recollection there was no online cass cass between the sprint queens and shacarri. I might have missed it but I doubt there was. Thats not their style. But the online exchanges with the ex girlfriend were cringe worthy from both sides

Mi love how TVJ has its own interviews with our athletes - Antonio - my best is what Ill do on Thursday. 3rd PB this season
In reply to Brerzerk
Watson has been running really well all season. It took him a while but he has transitioned . He has lowered His pb 2 or 3 times. I am excited and my spirits are lifted after the hibbert injury
In reply to Brerzerk
I think the hurdlers will do it. On the womens side I recall Genieve Russell doing it before. We have enough personnel over there to challenge for a silver. The guard has changed. There is no McPherson, Christine Day etc, but I think we are good.
On the mens side..the performance from Watson has incredible. We got silver at the last WC . No Taylor but Watson and Bailey are running well.
VCBs bredda Sean Bailey goes through. - two down Gardner and Ndori
In reply to Brerzerk
The lane draws have been curious to say the least, and certainly not beneficial to Yard. For the finals Clayton won here heat but is in lane 8
Kipyegon to blow wow - unbelievable
In reply to Chrissy
as a great she could rank with Bolt.
Only difference her WR's are not at championships
but that's almost if not impossible in distance races
when you're doing more than one.
Mi Muma what a turnaround Shacari's end of medal ceremony interview.
She's almost charming me
Sounds like she said Ms. Sherika.
Always shouting out Big Momma too, that's an important person in African-American culture (more than Grandma)
Did she say Ms. Shelly and Ms. Sherika? In black culture dats High Mannas you know!!!
In reply to Brerzerk
call me a hater but i am suspicious of all those kenyan athletes. they have a history of doping as well

In reply to mikesiva
great updates. Pinnock doing nicely!
In reply to Brerzerk
Looks like the hurdlers and others stepped up. Was disappointed about broadbell and Hibbert but as Bob said when one door is closed another is open. Cautiously optimistic we can add some medals tomorrow. It is a great thing when you can cheer for your own athletes in your national color. And see your countrys name on the medal table.
In reply to mikesiva
Remind me how the long jump works
If no one jumps longer than Pinnock in the subsequent rounds does he automatically get the gold?
In reply to FanAttick
If no one jumps longer than Pinnock in the subsequent rounds does he automatically get the gold?
No. They start from scratch in the finals
In reply to rudebway
Yep. Some are so sad that they have no choice but to resort to cheering against...
In reply to rudebway
Ok..Thanks
They need to change that rule
In reply to rudebway
The anthem, I am happy when any Caribbean nation excels but hearing your anthem and seeing your flag does something extra to the spirit.
In reply to Brerzerk
i support caribbean athletes because in general we have not, and don't dope, even when we know it costs us glory and money. merlene ottely went up against so many dopers and stayed clean the entire time(yes i know about the 99 thing). as we have seen, many other athletes, including a couple from the region, don't have that level of character and integrity.
In reply to FanAttick
They need to change that rule lol
As an example of how this works. This week, ex KC youngster Jaydon Hibbert had the best jump in the qualifying round of the triple jump. 17.70 meters. He pulled his hamstring on the first attempt in the finals. The gold medal winner jumped 17.64. It is what it is
In reply to rudebway
That's life in T&F.. Very tough..Hibbert was certain of a medal, perhaps Gold had he contested the finals.
The other tough luck was Broadbell in High Hurdles. He too was on target to medal this Worlds.
But you gotta be in it to get it.
Hope Pinnock gets His in Long Jump..
Overall Jamaica is not doing too badly..there has been bad luck too
I hope young Ms. Alfred goes to Glen Mills now she is a full pro. Notice coming around the bend she is rocking.
In reply to hubert
I agree with your sentiments! Personally I thought Hibbert was our surest gold medal. But yes we arent doing too bad and tomorrow could be a good day. I also feel for Steve Gardner in the 400. He is a baaad man. But he pulled up
In reply to rudebway
Missed the 400 Did not know about Gardner. But as you know it's the nature of the Sport. Athletes
are very good at dealing with adversity like this even better than others in other sports disciplines.
That's my experience being around them.
Agree with you on Hibbert. I was surprised by his performance and he sure looked a Certain Gold.

Relays-Again will Mgt Mug it up? Early in the thread I asked who the hell thought it
was a good idea to put Natoya Goule in the Mixed relay heat. McDonald should run
a 4x4 leg with the hope he produces one of his blue moon 44's. For God Sake
Do not use Demish Gaye!
In reply to hubert
Amen! I did not see Danielle making the finals, much less the gold medal. and i think that lifts the vibes in the entire camp. people are gonna run out of their skins in the relays. remember that anchor leg from Novelene Williams Mills? that kind of effort.
In reply to bedydread
In reply to rudebway
That run by Novelene is epic and legendary. Still watch replays when I see it somewhere even on Social media.
In reply to hubert
Watching a video from tyquendo Tracey on you tube. He is talking about drama in the mens 4 x1. tyquendo is in the relay pool as is Michael Campbell. they finished 5th and 6th at trials. apparently Kadrian Goldson, who wasnt even supposed to be on the team, is in Budapest and is slated to run in the relays. Why? because Goldson is coached at G C Foster by Maurice Wilson, the national team coach. The allegations, and they sound valid, are not surprising but highly troubling
In reply to rudebway
Was thinking about the relays
In reply to rudebway
Parents is something else yes. Name de yute after a martial art

In reply to rudebwaybut Tracey also knows the provision if a countryman does well in a meet after trials he can be drafted. Is that the case?
Imusic-bro Jamaicans can drop some names you see
In reply to hubert
RIP (EWART) his and my fav part of that relay is Shericka's 2nd leg and her absolute delight at the win. He was so, so glad she was never successfully recruited by The Gulf ppl.
In reply to rudebway
My thinking is that anyone in a hurdles final can win the race !
Jamaica is now in 3rd place medal wise
In reply to rudebway
That news is a bit disconcerting. I thought they could insert someone only at Commonwealth Games and they did back in the day.
I hope they don't muck up the remainder of the relays.Goule in that 4x4 was a huge blunder.
I do hope Wilson knows what he is doing.
Trust among the relay team is essential and it involves everyone on the same page to start with.
Bypassing people with a draftee should only occur if that person has been outstanding post Trials
or others regress badly or injured.
I hope the reason is sound if it eventuates.
In reply to hubert
In reply to hubert
Wilson is saying he is not the relay coach and those decisions are up to the coach. Seem to remember DQ being accused of something years ago and his response was that he was not relay coach and the coach makes those decisions. We ALWAYS have some relay drama in the 4x1 but usually it was the WOMEN. But back in the day Frater Carter, Powell, Bolt were tight and 3 of those were from the SAME club. Then later with Bolt Blake Powell or Bolt Blake and whomever with Bolt and Blake from the same club probably helped those teams.
In reply to hubert
Well Goldson won the University Games in 10.02. I guess they are saying he is in better form than Tracey. If things go south we'll never hear the end of it. If they end up on the podium, it will die a natural death.
In reply to birdseye
You can see his confidence and fearlessness in his demeanour. Btw this is EXACTLY how we WON the last World U18s in 2017. See if you can find the vid.
In reply to michaelmax
Yes. More often than not drama always rears its head at Relay Time. Just hope what is done is right and pays off. If not...
more drama.
Well, said I had to gear US commentary. Guess what? They did give Antonio, Williams and Clayton creds and Big Ups! Not enough race time but still...

Good run by Hudson, who after that golf cart crash around yesterday's semis, had shards of glass removed from his eye by the medical team.
In reply to Brerzerk
Youre absolutely right

In reply to mikesiva
very pleased with our showing. and we are in the running for the relay medals. As for Hudson, you are correct. Gallant effort by him, but it is tough running out of lane 1.

I am sure you are impressed by Adeles excellent race strategy and her maintaining her form in the final 50 meters.
We are at 9 medals. So we can hit double digits with the relays. By the way I was wondering how Spain has 4 gold medals. Apparently they are from walking events. We need to recruit one or two mad men who can walk from town to mandeville
In reply to rudebway
Men have actually reported seeing them on both places and guaranteed they by virtue of smell never ever entered a vehicle

won the heat and qualified. that anchor had me worried. they can bring is Watson and Sean Bailey, and i dont know what the rules are this week regarding number of substitutions, but maybe the hurdler Clarke
In reply to FanAttick
heard that too. i am surprised. i thought they would do Sashalee to Shelly to Elaine to Sherika. Hope the coaches are right on this one.

What was Elaines leg on the backstretch 9.supn dont, if there are enough 200m runners its good to put a good experienced 1 on the backstretch dont since it is likely the longest leg. Mind you Forbes ran a brilliant curve so they might wanna keep her. Will Shelly then run the 2nd leg. Bro-Bri is fastest out of the blocks but fades @ 80 keep her. Is it strategy or personality? Do they fear Shacarri&s top-end? Then the idea should be get way ahead early. For that Elaine in form is the best bet.
In reply to Brerzerk
1500m final event not his favorite. But he is in 2nd after 9....hoping he can hold it together enough to medal.
In reply to Cheekswhat is Faith Kipyegon made of????

Just checking in..Is that some joke or what ? ETH has got to be in the 4x1.
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes. She could do the anchor..there are options .Not to have her in the line up is not one of them
In reply to Brerzerk
If ETH is in form she should be in the 4x1. That is lunacy.
In reply to nitro
She must have a niggle..only possible explanation
So enjoy seeing the Ites, Green Gold of Grenada's flag on Lindon's javelin

Commendable Yard
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes sir...Excellent run and stick passing by this Four. Bronze is nice.
Seville to Forde to Watson worked well.
In reply to Brerzerk
yes. glad we got that bronze. Seville ran another nice backstretch. Watson held on to the bronze.
In reply to Brerzerk
Akeem took too long to hand off to Seville. Used up too much of the zone
Bronze it is

Big Him up and Grenada has an Icon in this event, the toughest of all.
Be proud. Celebrate.
In reply to FanAttick
Did not really expect a medal. Japan and Britain were next to USA in my reading.
These guys did well.
Just pass that baton right, Girls. You got this
I knew itvShashalee cannot handle Gabby.Wanted us to win because TT Terry "boasy"
Silver for us -US teks di gold 4 x 1.Bronze fi di Brits
In reply to Brerzerk
I Vex.Make that BEX
In reply to Chrissy
Wow
In reply to Cheeks
Congrats man
In reply to Chrissy
From I saw ETH not in the lineup I didnt have a good feeling
I need to hear the reason
In reply to Brerzerk
Gabby ate Sashalee for lunch. as expected. will look at the splits but wasnt impressed by morrison. she verred right at the start coming out of the blocks. and Shacarri aint giving up an inch
In reply to rudebway
We hit double figures again!
Great championship Jamrock!
In reply to hubert
Morrison should not have started over Brianna who has bee n there done that in f8nals and ran well yesterday. Well as Shshalee did yesterday if you gonna leavevout Elaune for fear of baton change then put Shelly vs Gabby ala Yohan vs Gaye. US ran a well oiled race would've still won perhaps but Yard Mgt made it easier for them. If Elaine blazes the circuit weeks to come
..bangarang
In reply to nitro
agree..we well bad. and we can get to a dozen tomorrow. mens 4 x4 is tough but womens 4 x4 we have a clear path
In reply to FanAttick
I need to hear the reason
She was an alternate, surprised they took her to Hungary.
In reply to Brerzerk
i would have gone Sashalee to Shelly to Elaine to Sherika. or if you are worried about Elaine leaving the baton, Sashalee to Sherika to Shelly to Elaine
Morrison got beat on the opening leg. Shelly got us back infront of the USA. Gabby won them the relay. She did to Sashalee what Yohan Blake did to Tyson Gay in 2012
In reply to Brerzerk
Agree. But as a single event, she must have been passing and receiving baton with others while
Shelly and Action Jackson were concentrating on their individual events.
What was ETH doing all this time >
No way she should not be in the 4. There was no reason to change Brianna either at the leadoff.
They better come up with valid and credible explanation.
Anyhow Yard is second in Total medals behind Uncle Sam and they have done far better than I expected in this regard.
In reply to rudebway
Yes Sir.
In reply to camos
no. Elaine was 5th in the 100 at trials. they usually take the top 6 for the relay pool. she was not an alternate.
In reply to hubert
were you guys following the times ET was posting this year, she was luck to be there.
Pool for next yr. The top notch vets (if Elaine is back, counting Bri as a relay veteran) In form Kemba and Kevona then we can take them!
In reply to rudebway and that was with Shelly not running.
ETH did NOT have the times THIS year to justify that.SAFP got hurt on backstretch.
In reply to Brerzerk
Clayton from the twins may breakout by then.
Don't underestimate dem young boys niether. Experience and growth looking at silver and potential for more Paris and beyond too. They had me worried in the heats
In reply to camos
Yes we know that she was not at her second best. But being in Budapest for a week and the experience
behind her, she could and should have been in the four. She did not do badly either in the semis. did she?
She earned her way in the relay team
Those responsible ,mucked it up. Unless she was Hurt after the Semis
Simple as that.
In reply to Brerzerk
I like our pipeline, the Juniors in Cali last year gave a bright insight of our future.
Just came in .... ETH did not run?, mi bex bad
I hope a nuh politricks a run
Cant wait for the explanation
These athletes have been doing back to back major championships. It is taking a toll on them now...the big one, the Olympics is next year.
Shelley-Ann sustained a muscle strain right leg - gone for medical attention.
Hope its not too serious
In reply to michaelmax
Yep
In reply to michaelmax
waiting to see the splits. elaine did 9.90 yesterday on the back stretch. waiting to see the overall splits from today...
In reply to rudebway
We are lucky SFP did not stop with that injury. I think the Yard would have won without that injury.
In reply to Chrissy
Hope so too. she has been a trooper all year as she was never very close to her best,
She toughed it out..High class in every way.
Thet explains why Shelly-Ann got ran down.
We should have a formidable 4×100 women team for the next Olympics.
In reply to Chrissy
watched the replay and saw it. Hopefully she recovers soon. Shelly is a warrior. tough as nails.
I agree with Hubie 1000% based on her semi run Elaine should've been there. Wes Hall said when he was called up to the WI squad already in India because some one was injured Gilly saw him in the nets and told him you're gonna make the XI. Bri-Bri to Elaine could and should be worked out where Elaine does 120 and Bri 80 based on handover that plus the exchange to Shelly could've kept us in front and give the fast-finishing Shacarri work to do. US now has both records Olympics and Worlds. We want back one fast, fast.
In reply to Chrissy
Tanx much. Think I need to retire from supporting sporting individuals and teams yes.

In reply to hubert
Tanxxxxxx. I leff the fam and went to a Yardie bar here to operate somewhere in that grey area between between celebration and stress relief much to the chagrin of di missus of course.

Oh My Word!!! Didn't know India ran one B$#@ C&^$! of a 4x4 relay. What a brilliant Run? Venky n Khaga congrats that's serious track n field there and I am now just seeing the replay.
In reply to Brerzerk I was thinking at first that they did well but then I remember that the big teams used subs.
In reply to camos
Time Good Man!!! Under 3mins. and much faster than our win. They were flying! Antonio "One Bob" Watson n Co. has work to do. By the way "youngsters" Rudie n Co. What was he alluding to when he went to the camera and said One Bob?
In reply to Brerzerk
I think he is talking about "Big Robber Like Bob". The latest in tik tok dance hall. There was walk with the Jehrico, then Dunce Cheque (back a d class me no have no subject), and now big robber like bob. Yes, i know. in my days i listened to the 2 to 6 supermix with Barry G. Lady Ann Informer in the Area MURDERER and Under me Sleng Ting. no tik tok.

really happy for Watson. He has been in the limelight from a young age. Was castigated a couple years ago when he buss 2 blanks after running down Bryan Levell at champs. Tomorrow, he and Sean Bailey will have to bring it. i cannot keep track of the substitution rules. Not sure how many they can sub. Rushen looked really good today, so i am think they will keep Rusheen and Zadrion Barnes.
In reply to rudebway
Bailey inju hammie; whatever happens Id hate to see Demish out there. Man looks like hes going backward plus his times almost as slow as womens. Paulinho ran 48 n bush
In reply to Cheeks
All good
In reply to Cheeks
Grenada always punches way above her weight
In reply to Brerzerk
Yuh nebba see me saying Jeremy soon come
In reply to Brerzerk

Kirani - for obvious reasons
Anderson Peters - defending champion in Javelin
Lindon of course,
Truth be told though ..Kirani has paid his dues...anything we get from him from now on is gravy/ brawta.
In reply to mikesiva
So Jamaica could get one or two more medals today..Hope One of them is a Gold.
Can the women come home in the 4x400m ?
Shelly gave her all for God n Country even at the risk of her late season earnings.
And in the twilight of her stellar career too. What a patriot!
Chrissy I missed your Jeremy post lol. Truth be told though if you are a sports lover and know a 1B population country JA had only one track star in 75yrs ( The Flying Sikh) seeing Dem 4 bays burning up the track in the toughest sprint was exhilarating.
In reply to hubert
Watson available for the 4x4?
Ato, Russia is Eastern Europe. Didnt they have world champs about 2017?
NationwideRadio
Nationwide Sports understands that Elaine Thompson Herah's camp declined the opportunity for her to run other legs of the 4 x100m relay final and insisted that she'd only be prepared to run the second leg of the relay, which is known as the backstretch.
Link Text tweet
Ato, depend on your own knowledge and education not your producers. Tebogo is not The 1st African to win medal in mens 100m @ Worlds. A man you competed against Frankie Fredericks did. Think he may have even won gold. Embarrassing those duncy head Murcans
In reply to jahmekyah while wrong on principle (chain of command) strategically (on track activity) she was correct. Both being unable to compromise was unprofessional
In reply to Brerzerk
Ato is not wrong. You are.
Frankie Fredericks never won a World Championships 100m medal.
You could have at least checked
In reply to jahmekyah
assuming this is true, it explains the team selection. no way Elaine should not be on the team/offered a spot. Folks who talk about how she ran at trials only watch track during the olympics/World Championships. She scorched the back stretch with a 9.90 split in the semi. getting the baton with a running start is different than having to put pressure on her achilles while exploding out of the blocks.
but i agree with Berkerk that the inability to compromise was sad. For it to work it would have to have been Sashalee to Elaine to Sherika to Shelly. the 2 superstars with the injured legs on the straight legs. the 200 meter champion on the curve.
Reminds me of the Shelly VCB anchor drama issue. some things never change
In reply to Brerzerk
looks like we doing Rusheen to Roshawn Clarke to Zadrion Barnes to One Bob Watson. makes sense. If Bailey has a hamstring injury, dont risk it.
In reply to Da-Vincy
He said medal. As a sports fan I do not recall Frankie running 100 at worlds
Edited-Im wrong Frankie did run 100. Still correct about what Ato said
In reply to rudebway
Compromising should have being an easier matter.
unless coach and or team mates refuse to budge.
In reply to Brerzerk
What you mean youre correct about what Ato said? Yes, he did say that Tebogo is the first African to medal in the 100m at Worlds.
Did he say something incorrect?
In reply to jahmekyah
thats probably the answer.
In reply to Brerzerk
Russia is Eastern Europe.

Takeaways
Sports is like life, what we thought were sure medals for us went up in the vapor of injury/mishaps then medals and Gold Medals came from places unexpected.
With jus' a lil help from the rest of the Community and Cul-P's prediction of thirty couldve been feasible
Stable societies benefit human aspirations So many South Sudanese rep and or medal for adopted countries.
Proper Sports Admin in the region lacking- A decade after saying Rennie Quow was one for the future he reemerges and runs a damned good 400 leg. What happened in between?
Something good is building in India the more the merrier in sports, the recent Women's WC proved that.
I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction these last nine days.
Three Cheers for MikeS
Stable societies like Canada failed. Big up Jamaica.
