Context, unless you rate Smith very high as a bowler.
Carty scored 41 off 14 balls of his 83 runs from Smith's bowling....

i was very impressed with his clarity of thought at the post-innings interview...he wanted to get in then get on with it in identifiable ways

At this point in time I will only endorse Carty for grooming to play test cricket....lots of potential there
In 16 ODIs he has a SR of 66....look I have watched him bat and he can't get the ball off the square in ODIs.
Last night he shocked everyone...I think they said it was his 3rd T20 game....way too early to judge him for T20....as poster Kay pointed out Smith made it easier for him to blast for runs

Ive always had time for Carty.
I was immediately impressed with his stroke play when I saw him at the U19 WC.
But he belongs in red ball cricket, not ODIs and lickit.

U19 WC was more character and maturity than stroke-play. The tourney before Pooran impressed with strokeplay

All these talented young players need at least 3-4 full seasons of first class cricket to really develop their strokeplay and all round cricket.

The problem is our so called first class cricket is not really first class. These kids needs broader exposure and quality coaches to work with them.

I hear you Bro.
But they need lots of innings under their belts before they're even remotely ready for international cricket.
As bad as the 1st class cricket is in the Caribbean they still need to play in it.
It would be great if some of them got contracts to play in minor county leagues in England but that doesn't seem to happen any longer.
