1st match was in Oct 5
The last match of the round robin 1st round before the knock out is Nov 12
The final is Nov 19
The round robin is way too long. 5 weeks to finish for each team to play 9 matches.
Then 2 days of meaningful matches including the final.
Organizers got it wrong.

This World Cup Tournament is way too long
In reply to imusic The round robin is perfect. The problem is that they are playing 1 game a day except on Saturdays. They should have been playing 2 games on a daily basis. I like this format.

I agree with playing minimum 2 games per day. That would have been better.
I eh know anout this format being perfect tho
Damn, I missed it. What happened?

A 14 day tournament is too long? Surely u meant Nov 12 and 19. Its a better series with every body playing each other but de almighty dollar dictates dat as much as possible dere shud be only one match a day
How long was the 2007 tournament in the WI? I can recall some Super 8s shoite kinda like a tournament within a tournament.
The planned 2027 version is to expand to 14 teams with 2 groups x 7 and a return of the Super6 after the group stage.

Agree. Two matches a day would be ideal. This is a big country with many different venues.
Too darn long but the format is ideal.
Haven't watched much tho as Waste-I is not there.

Two matches per day means that at times some sides would be playing every two days. You would need to increase the size of the squads and introduce rest days into the schedule which wouldn't make the tournament go any quicker.
If they can play the damn IPL for 2 months, I’m all for some real cricket being played for a similar length of time.
I like the format.
2 matches a day would be good though

But its fair. I guess people are saying it is too LONG and drawn out whereas in the past, people wanted a more games to make it more fair. The fact that people now feel differently has to do with T-20, less people have an interest in ODI since T20 took off, and we may well be seeing the end of ODI's as we known it.
In addition, India is not the location to make a global event exciting. More, the one sided matches, the piss poor performance of Pakistan, SL, Bangladesh and Australia means fans from these countries have turned off their television.
Many around the world will also argue a WC without the greatest entertainers, is no WC at all.
A WI team, even when beaten has a magnificent global allure that attract tens of millions of viewers in places like Malayasia, Indonesia, PNG and China.

Seriously Bro. For further reference, you can make your argument without making shit up.

if the big boys needed one more reason to squash 50 overs cricket
they crafted perfect funeral for it
imusic's expression is a perfect encapsulation of the best outcome they'd hoped for
think about it - what is preventing them from having 2 matches a day? surely not a lack of crowds and tv interest
Way too long for England..they are suffocating
Kmt
Playing mostly one game per day . I guess they
are doing this for the North American viewers.

England dropping like Kaieteur falls.

PAK started off hot... their fans were watching.
SL getting hot just beating up ENG... their fans are tuned in.
BANG.... well.... bangamary is losing it.
OZ are also getting hot and won by 300+ margin and are in 4th place... you BET their fans are tuned the fcuk in.
Wheel & come again....

Not enthused

I actually like the pace of this World Cup. And the time frame is good for the “western hemisphere.”
And if you want to watch a game that finishes in 20 overs you could watch any match where India is playing or if England batting 2nd
