Police have also reported a 132 per cent increase in hate-related calls in Toronto since Oct. 7. According to Toronto police chief Myron Demkiw, there were 15 antisemitic incidents and five anti-Muslim hate incidents reported between Oct. 7 and Oct. 25, adding that more incidents had occurred since those figures were tabulated.
In the Peel region, Trillium Health Partners, a hospital network, said one of its doctors received an antisemitic death threat last week. Police say they are investigating the incident.

The hospital network said the doctor received the threat at “non-hospital work premises,” but that it immediately increased security at its two hospitals in Mississauga and health centre in Etobicoke.

They so good at hate…

TORONTO, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Canada has experienced a sharp rise in hate crimes targeting religion, sexual orientation and race since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to data released this week by Statistic Canada.

Canada, which prides itself as a diverse and welcoming country for immigrants and refugees, has witnessed a 72% jump in its hate crime rate between 2019 and 2021, said Statistics Canada.

Get rid of the indigenous whiteys, Socafighter loves you
Wicked

Indigenous people are among the vulnerable Canadians. Approximately one-third of the people who use shelters are Indigenous. That's according to research by the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness. People with physical and mental disabilities are twice as likely as other Canadians to live below the poverty line. Up to 45 per cent of people who are homeless are living with some sort of disability.

More poverty is coming
Yep

Yes, thanks to the policies of the Trudeau administration, Canada will be a poor country soon.

Even if the winds of change blow through the country and bring Canada a new government, the damage done is such that reversing it seems like a pipe dream.

There are some unstable foundations that support the Trudeau government’s economic growth strategy. First, an extremely expansionary monetary policy was put in place to promote interest rate-sensitive industries like finance, housing, and durable goods demand. Second, a fiscal policy that is fluid and unbound by any long-term pillar. Third, large cities will experience unprecedented levels of immigration, which will accelerate population growth and housing demand.

Canadian dollar losing value

TORONTO, Aug 4 (Reuters) - The Canadian dollar weakened to a near two-month low against its U.S. counterpart on Friday, as signs of cooling in the domestic jobs market led to reduced bets for additional interest rate hikes by the Bank of Canada.

The loonie was trading 0.2% lower at 1.3372 to the greenback, or 74.78 U.S. cents, after touching its weakest level since June 7 at 1.3393.

For the week, the risk-sensitive currency was down 0.9%, its third straight weekly decline, as a jump in long-term bond yields rattled equity market investors.

Roughly one in 10 households nationwide is food-insecure. Among those most at risk are renters, persons with disabilities, Indigenous people, and families with young children.

Nick Benjamin and his family are among them.

The Manitoban lives with his wife and five children. Though he makes a good salary, it falls short when they have seven mouths to feed and his wife is ineligible for disability assistance due to his income.

The Benjamin family also feels the strain of inflation.

"I’m not sure we’ll have food at the end of the month because prices go up each time we shop," he says.
This year, Canada’s inflation reached a 30-year high, with food prices making their biggest jump in more than a decade.
