debut: 2/15/09
4,172 runs
GK : Blake (7.5) didn’t do much and blameless for the goals.
RB : Limbikisa (7) but for a couple defensive miscues he was for me the best right back performance I have seen from a Jamaican in recent memory. Surprisingly substituted.
CH : Bernard (7) quite disciplined and steady.
CH : Pinnock (7.5) made some timely tackles to thwart goal opportunities for the Canadians. But for his part in the Canadian goal, I would have given him a 9.
LB : Leigh (7) I repeat, Jamaica’s best left back. Just the same, he played a crucial role in the Canadian goal.
RM : DeCordova-Reid (7.5) did well in attack and coming back to defend.
CM : Latibeaudierre (6) industrious defending but harmless going forward.
CM : Johnson (6.5) had a decent game but is not the creative threat, which is sorely needed, however, Coach Grim has made it clear Ravel Morrison is not a part of his plans.
LM : Bailey (5) wasteful in front of goal, bushing three chances including a very clear one. Cost Jamaica a result and perhaps the game.
F : Nicholson (7) hard to grade Jamaican forwards when their passes are being supplied by Pinnock. Did put away his chance.
F : Stewart (5.0) good to see him get on the pitch in a game of this magnitude. Not quite ready but the experience will help him.
NOTES:
1. Those talking about “Jamaican speed” need to stop with the stupid talk. I watch Canada repeatedly run by Jamaica players the last goal was the worse when Lareya ran effortlessly by Phillips (fresh legs) and Johnson. WHAT JAMAICAN SPEED?
2. Coach Grim, against better teams you need a creative midfielder and that individual is not in the current squad.
3. What of Omari Hutchinson?
4. No Lowe, however, Bernard did well in partnership with Pinnock.
