Opting out of IPL to focus on their national careers.
While here in the West Indies, they’re busy collecting NOCs

Most of them still earn considerably more from franchisee cricket in a few weeks compared to playing international cricket for a year.
That they have chosen to focus on their national team says a lot

WICB/CWI has always maintained that it is (and wiil not be) in no position to pay its cricketers the largesse that the three ICC controling countries pay in the light of resource allocation restructuring some years ago.
What the WICB at the time advocated were "compromises."
As usual, the onetrackminders here see things from a perspective which will rake in brownie points.

Correct and it's always about how much money those guys earn more than ours.
It's not just as simple as that.
Just to add balance to the lead article. Those opting out (Stokes and Root) were not going to be retained by their franchises either. They were allowed to put a positive spin on their being released. Other Englishmen have been also not retained though they could find buyers on Dec 19 at the auction.

Do you always compare grapes and Oranges? Compare Central contracts and labor relations nah? Did Gayle n Bravo give up IPL money to join hurry come up tour only to be further screwed by a certain CWI admin? Marlon too but ultimately screwed by Holder/Reefer? Small men don't deserve and don't know how to use power; abuse it yes.
CWI offered no "balance" they were not forced into by players' rep/lawyers. Gayle, Bravo, Pollard refusal of Central Contracts were all predicated on CWI's attempt to completely restrict their trade outside of playing for WI. When not on WI senior team duties they'd HAVE TO turn out for Lucas, QPCC etc. Show where Root MUST play County and League.
Very soon the CWI will not have to be concerned about the WI players going to the IPL as each year less WI players are being retain.

Just to be clear my post was intended to counter the thread author's position that English players are giving up IPL to focus on national duties whilst WI players are busy signing NOCs as if they were running from their national duties. My point was the players cited weren't turning down IPL, they were being released by the franchises they were previously contracted to.
I have never had an issue with any WI player from the onset maximizing their earnings even if it meant at the expense of WI duties. I have always found the CWI Board's position and antics vis a vis its cricketers in this matter to be foolhardy and counterproductive.
Not you bro, read again, it is men being disingenuous about CWI history of poor labor, relations, active efforts to restrict employee earinings and vindictiveness. One example- Putting out press release that Gayle was dropped then simultaneously attempting to deny him a NOC on the claim they had him in injury rehab that's why he wasn't picked.
NB when the Aussie bowler was injured and RCB wanted Gayle he had to land in India without NOC then use the threat of a lawsuit to leverage CWI to issue that NOC. Dropping a man via press release while trying to ensure he has no other earning ability is nothing short of evil. But,you'll soon see the disingenuous communication thread between Gayle n Hilaire being proffered as proof of Gayle's not CWI's malfeasance. Liars Dem
Stokes was having surgery and would not have been ready…
But if it’s a convenient argument to kick West Indian slave players again then fix up
The ECB announced a list of 26 men who have signed central contracts on Tuesday, of which 18 have signed the first multi-year England contracts. The board felt compelled to act since players' earning potential in franchise leagues is higher than ever after the launch of the UAE's ILT20 and the SA20 in South Africa, both of which are supported by significant investment from IPL teams.
I wish you people had the class of the English…
"[For] Ben Stokes, like people do when they have an offer of a long-term contract, it is that trade of security over a stronger negotiating position. Ben, quite rightly, feels when the next MoU starts and the contract cycle changes, he will be in a stronger position. Other players have gone for that security."
The ECB's contracting system considers both performances in the preceding year and the likelihood of players featuring in both red and white-ball cricket in the future. "It might be, next year, that there's a different system," Key told Sky Sports. "We're going to work on that as soon as we've got this done, as it's taken a little bit of a while."
Maybe Bolls is right about you…what decency from a white man…by the way Joe Root has a three year contract …
900,000 Pounds is paid annually for Red Ball and White Ball Cricket.
650000 Pounds is paid annually for players with Test match deals, while White Ball contracts (Bonus not included) range from 250,000 – 350,000 Pounds is paid annually (County salary not included).
As a match fee, 14,500 Pounds per Test match and 4,500 Pounds per White Ball game is earned by an England Cricketer (men’s).
Jos Buttler USD 2.6 million
Jofra Archer USD 2.56 million
Jonny Bairstow USD 1.88 million
Joe Root USD 1.81 million
Sam Curran USD 1.75 million
Chris Woakes USD 1.6 million
Jason Roy USD 1.07 million
—- the West Indians are modern day slavers…
Shimrom Hetmyer was today retained for 1.08 million.
How much DM BRavo get retaiined for? Sorry he cannot be retained. He has no job with West Indies, none with IPL...

Man this is another level of spin.
Stoked would have been grabbed in any open auction, if he wouldn’t be retained already.
Same with root.
These guys aren’t bravo that they’ll pull out of the whole tournament because they (supposedly) weren’t getting retained
Unless you have some in side information on what’s gone off behind the scenes, you should keep your conspiracy theories to yourself
