PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad & Tobago (CMC) — An aggrieved Darren Bravo said late Saturday he planned to "step away just for a bit" following the latest snub by West Indies selectors, which saw him left out of the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) squad to face England next month.

In an emotional post on social media platform Instagram, the 34-year-old said he had "taken some time to ponder and wonder" about his future in West Indies cricket and, while he was not "giving up", believed a break would be the best move for his career.

He gave no clear indication of the length of the break, however, but said it was proving difficult to continue finding motivation amidst the ongoing selection disappointments.

"At this point in my career it's not easy or should I say it takes a lot to continue to find the energy, the passion, commitment and discipline to be able to perform to the best of my ability and put myself in a position to make my return to international cricket," Bravo said.

not everyone is perfect. Michael clearly has some issues but we continue to give him support realizing that his needs may be more than others. I can speak for myself that I have had lows in my career as well and support from family and colleagues and the will to improve took me through. We have to remember that this is his career while it is entertainment for us. Stay up, Michael. We are with you in this.

where they have fielding restrictions and use of the short ball is sparse. that is the sole reason shai averages over 50. If shai played odi cricket in the early 90s or late 80s, he'd be averaging as much as he averages in tests. hope is as bad against the short ball as dowrich

darren bravo has not gotten the same run like hope. since 2015, bravo has played only 53 odis. he played none between the end of 2016 and the end of 2018. within the same time period, shai hope played his entire odi career. if, we assume that the wi played 118 odis since 2016(its a little more than that but we'll use it as a base figure), that means bravo has been selected for less than half of the odi matches played in that time period. And we know that bravo was left out in the cold for rectifying the don's river waterfall manager cosplaying as a CWI president for erroneous information he uttered on Sportsmax. Could bravo have dealt with the situation in a more dignified, respectful manner? Certainly. Did Dave Cameron give incorrect stats on sportsmax as to why bravo wasn't given a full contract. Undoubtedly. He was the only batsman averaging over 40 at the time, and remained so until 2019 when his average slipped under 40. Still is the highest in the Caribbean in tests

to put these numbers in perspective. Ashley Nurse played more ODIS between 2016 and 2019 than darren bravo. and ashley nurse averaged 19 with the bat and 43 with the ball during this time. carlos brathwaite played 37 odis between 2016 and 2019, averaged 13 with the bat and 42 with the ball

This is the same Desmond Haynes that sued West Indies board after he was dropped from facing Australia in 1995, at age 39. Mark you although Dessie was 39, five years older than the 34 yr old Daren Bravo he has consistently dropped but age was not the reason he was dropped but because of eligibility. Bravo doesn’t have an illegibility issue but the Hon hypocrite Haynes has a problem with his age.
All we know is Haynes and WICB solved their legal problems behind the scenes and part of the agreement was so that the Most Hon hypocrite could help in the development of West Indies cricket. I wonder if Desmond Haynes was not brought back to hurt the likes of Daren Bravo. I sure can’t see where else Desmond Haynes is helping West Indies cricket.

There are some senior people in WI cricket who feel that the likes of Gayle, pollard, Narine, the two bravos, Sarwan and Chanderpaul should not be anywhere near WI cricket because they stood up to the board and all of them won except Darren. It does not matter how WI cricket recedes into the abyss of irrelevance

Our problem is we don’t have a success plan for our younger players to follow. Back in the 90’s the way we have dropped our senior players have us because we don’t give them a chance to play future players that could understudy them. It did not hurt us much in the mid 90’s when we forced the likes of Haynes, Richards, Robert, Holding and others to retire because back then we had good young players that were ready for test cricket. But post 2000, selectors forced Lara, Sanwan, Chanderpaul , Fedel Edwards etc into retirement with no sign of any immersing star players knocking the door. We again forced out Bravo with no young player averaging at list 35 in first class cricket. In as much as Arthanaze and few more looking talented but not having a senior player like Daren Bravo to help them it sure not looking good for our future development

I do not know if you are referring to something else but if my memory serves me right the matter in question was resolved outside of court and this article back in 2004, would confirm the fact
