He had the potential to be the best in all three formats. He possessed the talent that could have made him one of the greatest opening batsman ever. He had the ability to be the most sought after in the IPL and other big leagues around the world. However, young talent must be guided and nurtured properly or it will lose its spark. He needed to play a lot of cricket at all levels, especially test cricket, to sharpen his skills, but it was obvious from his demeanour on the field, he did not want to play for the West Indies; he appeared sparingly and conveniently. it was obvious that the main focus was on the IPL too early in his career. However, as is clear now, one has to learn to play cricket first before they can master the T20 format.
Sadly, again, this superb talent would never maximize his fullest capabilities, and would diminish into cricket history in the category of "greatest underachievers." At 31 there might still be a window of hope if he seriously looks into himself, and if those close to him offer him proper and selfless advice.

Evin Lewis another unfulfilled talent
In reply to Besar
I stopped reading at that point.

To be fair, I think that he meant the best of the contemporaries such as Paint, Tangerine paint, John Campbell in test cricket. No doubt, Lewis could have been much better than all three of these.

I thought the same for Lewis that he would really become one of our best openers in at least T20 and ODI's.
But to me he was injury prone. Then even after full recovery he just seemed very disinterested in improving his game. So maybe he is best where he is at this moment.
There were times after injury he will just be placed back into the starting XI. I don't believe in that I think you work your way back in the XI. And maybe that false sense of security is why we don't see him today. There isn't any player currently in the squad I would replace him with.
It’s hard to be motivated in the Devil’s balls that is the Caribbean….flies like Courtsey fester and a few injurious maggots emerge…

Ok I understand.
I witnessed his 180+ in London, after the UB fell for a duck. That was magical and destructive. Ball sailing into the stands every second!
He could have been a mainstay in the WI set up but for injuries etc…

indeed, there's no question that he had the ability to establish himself as the go to option in all formats, considering the lack of options. Not that two of those formats matter though
