Would someone anyone tell Springer et al to stop coaching, stop di blinking talk radio and describe di blasted game
Bishop is an idiot. He does not have the mental strength to move up. Give the chance to someone else.
In reply to PalsofMine
Steups... Didn't he score 90 in the last match? And was one of the leading runs scorers in the 50 overs series?
Not bad for an idiot...

In reply to PalsofMine
He has been doing really well. Looks one to work with. Free scorer and been battling for a while. Lapse in concentration but was battling..
These guys need more work on their mental game
In reply to Chrissy
I have been commenting on his coaching for some time.
I have another beef with the lack of sprinkler systems, these are international grounds, and should be treated as such.

Bishop is more balanced than most of Barbados' international players.
He should replace the Roboc Warrican.

Saw it coming. Stewwwps
That is mature batsmanship by Anderson, the guys are talented, and help is needed if these youngsters want to play Red Ball Cricket.
In reply to openning
Bishop and Motara are Bim best spinners... Y'all selectors will continue to pick Warrican and the others ahead of them though.
Rivaldo Clarke should also be in this WI Academy squad... He is a better talent than Julian and Tuckett.
In reply to anthonyp
Is Rivaldo consistent with the bat by Caribbean standards?
In reply to anthonyp
I am never one that is sold on looks, I grew up seeing the best of Barbados cricketers.
It was always hard watching Warrington bowled the same way every match, will little improvement, I remember writing, that if there was an accident on his way home, he would sit in his car, until everything was clear, he would never try a different road to get home.

in reply to both you and Anthonyp, I went to Antigua to see these guys bat. Bishop has talent but is a bit scratchy at the beginning and that was a huge lapse to be playing those shots on the point of lunch. I think that perhaps he should bat at #4 rather than at #3. I do not think that he shows the skill as yet for #3 with the possibility of the new ball. Anderson appears to have a better temperament to weather the storm and come through on the other end. Kudos to him on the innings today but it is a real pity that for visa reasons he could not be in South Africa. I think that he is already above Academy standard and that challenge would have been so good for him.
Pitman, Thorne and Clarke in the XI... Yet the skipper takes the new ball again.
When will this shyte stop? Nobody at CWI can't correct this? Y'all expect to develop our young fast bowlers by not giving them a chance with the new ball?

Some people need to see 5 - years of numbers to recognize talent. Others just give them an avenue to let the talent flourish.

Please invoke the mercy rule
s guy Tim Tector scored 4 ducks in 5 innings. I think his other score was 2
Did WIA just do a little bazball thing against the poor Irish? The Irish were fairly ocmpetitive in white ball cricket but in red ball they are showing their lack of experience in a big way. I hope that they go back home having learnt something and are able to bring their standard of cricket up a few notches.
Dis done.
Good win West Indies Academy
Good job for WI players to pad stats against what passes for a FC team in Ireland.
Congrats Windies Academy
We need more series like these home and away to assist the guys in playing on different pitches and become more experience cricketers
In reply to imusic
India routinely does that against our senior team.
Need to do this against a better opponent.

I knew David Murray had talent, I am also aware that Warrican is a talented player, because of certain demons David could not fulfill what a number of us knew he should accomplish, as for Warrican he needed help.
Hetmyer has plenty of talent, but would most teams stick with him in the ODI format?
Even the commies were saying, he should go overseas and work with coaches, a different environment, where he could see what it takes, to improve his game.
Big up the WIA. Very clinical. Well coached, led and played. The Academy has had a great year of cricket over all and the guys should be very proud of their performances.
Certain questions remain for me: What is next? Is there any succession planning? I think that Young, Josh Bishop, Anderson and possibly Wickham are ready for the A team level. Probably Teddy Bishop should be considered as the next leader of the Academy team and hopefully it adds some maturity to his batting. I think that Jordan Johnson was rushed too quickly into the A team. There are clear benefits to be seen from going through the Academy stucture. I hope that he and Isai Thorne can be part of this structure next with possibly Junior Sinclair joining them. I think that Hayden Walsh would have been the best replacement for Anderson whose admin isssues need to be addressed as quickly as possible as he is too precious a player to be missing important tours.
The next steps for the Academy should involve tours abroad. I think that baby steps are still needed so I would be looking for Ireland, Zimbabwe and possibly Bangla first before moving up to a South Africa, Sri Lanka and the like. I would also encourage Netherlands and Afghanistan to come here. I think also that perhaps the Academy needs to play some matches on different islands and get out of their comfort zone at Coolidge. Possibly St Lucia and Grenada, where pitches have recently had some spice (no pun intended) may be good so that they start getting accustomed to playing in "foreign" conditions. I heard recently that they will be playing as one of the teams in the FC season. I have advocated this in the past. I would only caution that the pool of players be widened as in many cases these guys have not yet reached their peak strength and we do not want to injure them by having them play so many successive 4 day games
In reply to PalsofMine
Apart from the captain, can you name three experienced international players, on the A team?
In most countries, you will find several international players in the A teams.
One reason is that these players need to work themselves back into form.
We tend to drop players quickly, or they are too old.
I still see these players, not moving their feet, Nyeem Young can hit the ball when it is in the slot, but balls a few inches or a foot from the slot, he reaches.
Wickham put his left foot out, at times he anticipated instead of watching the ball out of the bowler's arm and used his feet to get to the pitch.
A video was given to me after my first ten golf lessons, about 30 years ago, and ever since then, I understood the importance of video.

So from your observations, neither is yet ready for promotion to the A team. What about Anderson and Josh Bishop? any comments on those two? and also did you think that Johnson was ready for hte A team?
In reply to PalsofMine
I posted about Johnson more than a week ago, saying not playing for Jamaica benefitted him, because of the leadership and training.
Johnson is still at the U19 stage, no one seems to know where he fits in, he was not selected for any of the teams, not even the WI Academy, it was a visa problem that got him to replace Kirk, on the A team.
I believe in consistency, Jordan Johnson has an appetite for runs, I just would like to see him, far away from the present JCA program.
Fans usually get excited when a youngster gets selected, the development of the cricketer is more important than him making a team, we have been digging a grave for almost 25 years, and it is getting wider and deeper, discarding talent at the end of every season.
Kevin Wickham represented the Royals in the last Regional 4-day tournament, he batted 7 times, finished with an average of 15, played in the Headley/Weekes tournament, scored a ton, and became the talk of the town.
Show me the money, not a dollar bill.
I'd like to see those in the Academy not involved with franchises become part of an Academy/CCC side that gets added to the FC Tournament.
While they're losing three or four players to franchises they can replace them with Jordan Johnson, Chemar Holder etc.
A reciprocal tour to Ireland or an away tour to the sub.continent should be the next step.
In reply to WICFan
According to the commentators the WI Academy team will be playing in the upcoming FC season.
Some of the U-19 guys will replace the ones picked for their regional sides.
In reply to anthonyp
There was 3 or 4 given franchise contracts so they will need replaced if the Academy is in the tournament proper.
