I would suggest strongly that he goes away to learn the ODI game. At this stage he is not an asset to the batting side. This is test match batting.

He made 48* and 80+ prior to this inning... So they had to play him.

Think he batted at #5 for those knocks though.

These guys need yo learn how to play spin, and hopper would be the best person to teach them

it's not as if we are chasing 200. This is just a thoughtless decision to send him at number 3 or to have him playing ODI.. I just have to look at his international production.

Agreed . Carty has a naturally defensive mindset. Waiting for bad balls is test match batting. In white ball you have to be able to beat good balls.

Shai reaching for the ball to hit it. Carty stuck on the crease.

I am not blaming Carty. He obviously lacks the skill set to play ODI cricket.

All the more perplexing why he's been included in the ODI side.

Definitely think he would be better suited to tests, should have been on the A tour to South Africa.

You said he wasn't a one day player. As it stands he's become one of the best in the world in this format. Upped his strike rate, and played some great innings

Maybe carty turns out the same. well know as he plays a bit more. Let's see

I said Hope's SR of 67 was too low for the modern ODI game. And with this SR was putting pressure on other batsmen

Thankfully, he has subsequently acknowleged this speaking to Bish and he is building on his SR. This is different from what you posted.
