Big ton dat Hope
In reply to Chrissy
Big ton indeed
Yes commie, extraordinary
Match winning knock!
Congrats! Thumbs up emoji!
That was an innings of immense skill from Hope
Just AWESOME!!!! Class!!!
Congrats Captain Shai Hope.
It's refreshing to see a West Indies captain again leading from the front.
This harks back to the days when our captains used to do more than spin the toss and clap!

One of his best...must rank up there...the circumstances, the overall cloud over West Indies at this level...
just WOW.

THat ONE INCH punch off that full toss from Curran for SIX...that was an incredible shot!
This win means the world to me, I am elated that Shai led the charge home, the approach to this match was impressive, the chase was measured, I thought around the 43rd over the run rate was of concern but shepherd was brilliant
Overall I give a big A+ to the team

Correct! I was looking for the ball racing along the turf. That actually went for six. Cyah forget RS and Athanaze innings as well.
In reply to Discourse
BRO.. I thought the last ball he struck was a four...I did not even realize it was a FLAT SIX
superbe batting
In reply to Discourse
Yes..The opening pair I would invest in for sure... hoping KING tons up soon too..he is more than capable.
Athanaze...good find.
Romario has definitely put his hands up over the years...fearless and stands out now even above some of the still more popular bats when it comes to production.

Indeed did not get overwhelmed to much , you could see he was a bit off when Carty was in test mode, other than thank kept the runs flowing. The English commies said that they did not mind the ones and twos but . Hope and Sheppy delivered
In reply to Chrissy
Probably his best ODI Ton!
In reply to voiceofreason
Was his fastest
After setting a record ODI score on this ground they proved powerless as West Indies bettered it with seven balls to spare to win by four wickets, and as the batting of their captain, Jos Buttler, continues to suggest major programming errors it was his opposite number, Shai Hope, who steered his team to victory.
Hope eased past the mark of 5,000 ODI runs on his way to a superb, match-defining century, stabilising his side through the middle overs before accelerating to the target of 326. He sealed the win by blasting three sixes off four Sam Curran deliveries as England’s bowling turned ragged in the final stages, before declaring it the finest of his 119 innings, and 16 centuries, in the format.

Ginormous for the club. I have no idea if he had any cachet with the players before... in any event, he earned the right now
The ROCK of West Indies.

I mentioned in the match thread that shot was special and not as easy to play as it looked. A very, very good ton by the captain HopeEven though we got a good start Hope's and
Shep's partnership yesterday reminded me of Viv/King '79 WC where the star's knock was so classy we almost underestimate the wonder of the 'supporting act.' They completly
turned the game from 50/50 to win.
In reply to Chrissy
What is he going to say when we lose the series?
In reply to buds
We shall see.
Still why can’t he play red ball cricket
In reply to voiceofreason
Of note it was against a big team not a minnow. Hope's innings was out of the top drawer. Mayers should watch tapes of how Hope builds his innings. Patient keeping balls on the ground for singles at the beginning then he goes thru the gears. Curran knows what Hope's top gear looks like

Correct is right. Thw measured approach yes.
If I was to change anything in the tram is I'd try Oshane and Jospeh as the opening pair just to see how Wngland would reach if they win the toss ans bat first. They (Eng) really did anything wrong, WI were just thw better team in the day. We got wickets at regular intervals when after the opening burst.
Our batsmen went well the opening paid I remember we discussing who and King for now Athanaze it is.

I hate these pronouncements after one good game then to lose the series. England will adjust and make changes. Will we? England is coming off a horrific WC so the win is not that significant. They are at a very low point. Yet they scores over 300+ runs!!
Plus, a win against England says very little. I do not take any real consequence of the win.
In reply to Brerzerk
Well said Brezerk.
its still the talk in most chats and sites...
I wonder if he truly realizes how career defining that knock was yet?
In reply to buds
Buds??
Context is King
I truly believe that you are not on all fours here...this may have been the ONE first game in THIS series but to ignore our own travails and only highlight Englands challenges is not only to draw a false equivalence but to really poo poo on what on its OWN Merit was a match defining knock in any era on Gods Green Earth.
Cant shake your hand on this one at all Buds...

He means the statement when we will lose to ENG he hates.
