7 years of international. How long more?

They have showed a lot of faith in him. Luckily for him the talent pool is limited so he has gotten a long run.

How long would you have given Sam Curran, after the first match
You fans have learned very little, after so, so many years of losing.

I wish you jokers will examine the statistics before talking dribble. Alzharri Joseph has played 64 ODIS with an ave of 28.04 / econ of 5.31 and most importantly a s/r of 31. Yes he has only 1 5fer but 5 fers are not easy to come by in one day cricket especially for fast-bowlers. His s/r is excellent and that is what you are looking for in your strike bowler. Mohammed Shammi eg has a s/r of 25.5 and his econ is 5.55.

He is by far our best pace bowler in ODIS and T20IS. He had a rough day at the office and will bounce back fine come the decider.

For all of that...he has been below par all 2023...people expect a level of consistency from the leader of the pack...he has been leaking runs in all of 2023....

he just needs to do better...

i expect a decent performance from him in barbados

No comparison.
Curran is an alrounder and has better numbers in all formats..

What nonsense. Stats? He been around how long? He just like Few others was picked and continued to be picked on potentional.

Walsh has more wicket than AMBROSE . WAS HE A better bowler?

He is lucky our stock is low .only reason he there so long

voiceofreason 2023-12-07 01:27:41

In reply to doosra His s/r this about the same as his career s/r but agreed his econ has gone up.

Aljo will be fine. I am more concerned about his inconsistent performances in Test cricket.

voiceofreason 2023-12-07 02:29:05

Walsh vs Ambie. Stats would show you that Ambie had a better average and s/r than Walsh. That is why I am using those metrics to assess Aljo's performance.

brians_da_best 2023-12-07 04:18:11

Joseph will be fine

WICFan 2023-12-07 08:53:58

He was a bit disappointing in the CWC Qualifier.

He's playing across all 3 formats and has also been given vice-captaincy responsibilities so his workload has been increasing.

Hopefully Oshane, Seales and others can take some of that off him.

Not a thinking bowler, sorry!

In reply to voiceofreason

not easy to come by, OK then how many 4fers he has?
We alsways thrust vice-captaincy on men not cemented in a team
Kieron, Rovman, Alzarri.... what is is 4fer ratio/match?
How does it compare with Rampaul, Russell, Bravo, are those reasonable yardsticks?

Brerzerk 2023-12-07 16:00:52

In reply to Brerzerk

Based on what we have he deserves to be picked now and the next 2 series at least. But just like Carty who has been in cricket since 2015
if he doesn't keep showing consistent growth more than just very serious questions need to be asked.

Tell me which Caribbean cricketer has complete overall growth in last 7 years.... transition from youth cricket to senior team ....worst for West Indies players....
Joseph has done well in last one year.....in Test and ODI...... with Shaun Tait as fast bowling coach...I assume Tait will have same effect as he had with Pakistan quickies Shaheen, Naseem et al......

Speed100 2023-12-07 20:15:50

Playing at the highest level of any sport one has to be a professional. You don’t take as along as we are giving these players.

Our problem here in the West Indies is that we picked players on potential and give them these opportunities and they don’t perform or fulfill these potential. And we continue to picked them hoping they will one day produce.

We continue to bash Hetmyers but there are other just like him we give the free pass

Lol people funny, Alzhari is by far our best white ball fast bowler for the last 2 years. As VOR said, in Test Cricket is where i'll say he is disappointing. Hasn't developed as one would have liked. But to average under 30 in modern ODI Cricket, that's wonderful.

Alzharri seems to have no plan in test cricket. He could learn a lot from Roach and Mayers two bowlers who spend several overs setting batsmen up for the away swinger or the one that straightens. Alzharri has all the tools he just needs the patience to set a trap and spring it

eh?

can you explain?

doosra 2023-12-09 12:26:28

In 2023 Alzharri has been going at

32 per wicket
6.11 per over

11 wickets in 11 matches

he surely owes the team one

backing him for a big one today

Castled 2023-12-09 13:25:53

Were Al Joseph to perform in line with his vex game face he would be king of the world of speedsters lol

jen 2023-12-09 18:55:46

Maybe you're still in the 90s, where you expect fast bowlers to average under 25. Josh Hazlewood average 27, Pat Cummins 29. I'm sure you don't have a problem calling them good bowlers. Rabada and Nortje averages 28 also. So why Alzharri no good with the same stats?

You just talking about 2023, as if Rabada wasn't struggling a while ago too.
