Windies - Pace Bowlers Wanted!

Windies will never learn, keep doing the same thing and expect different result!
Thomas for next year
S. Joseph for the future
Cupboard bare and selectors obsolete.
I say obsolete but I mean stupid.

It says so much, when our pacemen cannot bowl in the powerplay and have very slim chances winning a game "at the death" even when 20 something runs are required in the final over.
Anyone with a modicum of neuronal energy could have seen this coming.
We were just lucky in the second T20 that Holder bowled an excellent penultimate over...this is not the norm with his bowling.
This is one of two differences between the last 2 games.
...the resultant effect of not having control and thus bowling inconsistently. This is piss poor for any international T20 team and will not take us anywhere quickly - a major rehaul is needed like yesterday.
These shortcomings should have been identified a long time ago. I am not the least surprised that we cannot defend 220 runs...it happened in Zimbabwe but like every other cricket decision in the Caribbean we are slow to respond. Scientific mgt is certainly not our forte.
But as usual we lack the analytical cricketing skills to make seek alternative resources and make these much needed sound changes.
In reply to XDFIX
This is correct, take Joseph for example. What is the obession with banging the ball into the pitch? We need to get our players to bowl more yorkers and deliveries which our opponents will find difficult to get under to slog for 6s.

Why do you dislike Joseph?
In reply to Courtesy
I don't dislike Joseph, I just think that he is not living up to his potential which angers me. He is our fastest bowler and has all the tools to be better. He is still young and fit and should be learning his craft from Sir Curtly. He just needs to stop bowling these short pitched deliveries so often.
In reply to Windiesfan78
So do you think there is potential in Joseph that can be harnessed?
In reply to Courtesy
That is correct sir, at 27 he is still young enough to learn. He has to learn to be patient and bowl tighter lines. Every delivery cannot yield a wicket.
In reply to Windiesfan78
Well then you going hate how someone of holders pace keeps bowling these full slow balls and gets lined up in game three
In reply to Windiesfan78
So after:
* eight years of test cricket with "no ball" problems in LO cricket;
* a woeful and declining 2023 season;
* working with Sir Curtly and numerous other coaches;
.is Joseph still worth the investment?
.............................
Btw, I am happy that you have provided an alternative viewpoint to the Oped.
We need two quality death bowlers for last 3 or 4 overs.
Who do we include between now and June....Thomas...Cottrell...Real McCoy...Keemo...
that slingy medium pacer from Trinidad...

Is it relevant that his career has been in 2 parts truncated by a lengthy injury?
In reply to Headley
What is relevant to my decision making is a consistent upward progression bar.
Any mgt worth his salt would have human resources evaluated (for injury or otherwise) and re-evaluated before he lands or continues with the job.
* Duties to be performed;
* Person specification to match job functions;
* Selection and recruitment;
* determine performance evaluation period;
* evaluation;
* re-evaluation.
The above mgt principles NEVER CHANGE.

It was 4 spinners not pacers who won the world cup in 2012 and 2016, two specialist spinners, badree and narine and two spin allrounders, samuels and gayle
In reply to XDFIX
Perhaps the Headley-Weekes Series should be a multi-match T/20 Series after the CPL with domestic players only.

It appears as if our bowlers don’t think! It’s just run up and serve drops!
In reply to WICFan
We are weak in all formats, my view is if you’re a cricketer you should be able to play all formats!
I guess you’re seeking to hone the T20 skills with the suggested change!
That said, specialization has its place!
In reply to XDFIX
Cottrell couldn't buy a wicket in the Regional Super50, McCoy and Om Smith are playing T/10s.
No idea if Keemo Paul is still injured. Oshane Thomas is probably next.
In reply to WICFan
I don’t think you’ll get much out of Thomas beyond pace, he’s not a thinking bowler!
In reply to XDFIX
Yes, express pace without brains normally means the ball goes to the boundary quicker.

Look for a 2-2 in the next match!
Runs trucks at large!
Batting carnage all the way to the end!
