T&T Local Hindus celebrate Sri Ram temple in Ayodhya

WITH GREAT fanfare and festivity, hundreds of residents of Felicity and its environs descended on the Pierre Road Recreation Ground on Sunday evening to celebrate the consecration of the Sri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
In what is being considered "Divali in January" for millions of Hindus around the world, the Shri Ram Janam Bhumi Sthapna Committee, under the patronage of the High Commissioner of India in TT, Dr Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit, held a public commemoration at the grounds.

It began at 2 pm with a motorcade to the venu,e followed by a boisterous procession with people dressed as the deity Lord Ram, accompanied by tassa. The function was filled with cultural songs and dances, all giving praise to Lord Ram.

As pundit Ganesh Maharaj explained, Hindus are celebrating the return of a temple to the birthplace of Ram, a deity considered the ideal man and exemplar of how to live for all.
"The thing is, 500 years ago or more, because of different people who tried to raid and plunder India, there was a mosque – no offence to anybody else, but a mosque was built on the site of what is called Ram Janmabhoomi, his birthplace," he told Newsday.

Wishing Hindu's the best world wide on their celebration.

In contrast to some of the other organized religions, Hinduism can be more aptly described as a philosophy or way of life that has been subject to numerous interpretations over several millennia, now resulting in a religious practice that incorporates a remarkable diversity of cultural rituals and customs. The Indian Supreme Court remarked that Hinduism is a way of life, and not just a religion.
While there is no shortage of historical scholars, sages, and teachers in Hinduism, there is no historical founder of the religion as a whole, no figure comparable to Jesus, the Buddha, Abraham, or Muhammad. As a consequence, there is no firm date of origin for Hinduism, either.Hinduism is unique in that it's not a single religion but a compilation of many traditions and philosophies

Modi opens Hindu temple built on ruins on razed mosque, in political triumph for prime minister

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday opened a controversial Hindu temple built on the ruins of a historic mosque in the northern city of Ayodhya, in a political triumph for the populist leader who is seeking to transform the country from a secular democracy into a Hindu state.

The temple is dedicated to Hinduism’s Lord Ram and fulfills a long-standing demand by millions of Hindus who worship the revered deity and extoll him for the virtues of truth, sacrifice and ethical governance. Modi’s party and other Hindu nationalist groups who seized on the demand have portrayed the temple as central to their vision of reclaiming Hindu pride, which they say was suppressed by centuries of Mughal rule and British colonialism.

Modi and his governing Bharatiya Janata Party hope that opening the temple will help catapult the prime minister to a record third successive term in elections expected this spring. But with the temple still under construction, critics accuse Modi of a hurried opening to woo voters.

Ram (also known as Rama) is one of the most important gods in the Hindu pantheon, a figure revered for his heroic deeds, virtue and chivalry. An avatar of Vishnu, he is especially well known for being the central character in the epic poem the Ramayana.

Much like Homer’s Odyssey, the Ramayana recounts Ram spending years in the wilderness trying to make his way home and claim his rightful role after being exiled.

Along the way he meets his wife Sita who is kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. With the help of his brother Lakshmana and the monkey god Hanuman, Ram defeats Ravana and rescues Sita.

The couple’s triumphant return to Ayodhya – and the victory of good over evil – is celebrated each year during the Diwali festival of lights.

That is because Hinduism is a way of life for the people. It is not a religion. The name Hindu was given by the Persians after the region near the Indus river and Himalayas. Basically, they pulled a "Columbus" before Columbus....they saw people and created their own name. We all still use that name like we still call the natives, Indians!

I possess a broad fascination with the Tropics that captivates me. Whenever I have the opportunity, I engage in extensive reading and note-taking for the purpose of creating blog posts.

I am currently being stalked by an individual who is well-versed in religious texts. This person consistently leaves comments on my thoughts. It appears that he leads a monotonous existence.
he was asked to stay off my threads...

If one's adherence to religion leads to a state of being like him, it is astonishing that he fails to see this fact. I desire to abstain from engaging with any religious beliefs or practices.

They exhibit duplicity, much like him, by espousing the teachings of the black book of fables while behaving in a contradictory manner.

I wonder why the Muslim chose to build the mosque there, was it to defy the Hindu god?

Under the Mungals' rule, whatever they desired was destroyed and rebuilt to their satisfaction.

This fact is conveniently disregarded by pseudo-intellects because it contradicts their historical worldview.

Interesting, I need to catch up on India's history!

A lot of people don't know that India is mentioned in the Old Testament!

My family and I have just returned from Trinidad, whereas a former prime minister was interred in accordance with Hindu rituals.

One of my forebears originated as an indentured servant from India. He was destitute and made a livelihood by cutting sugar cane on plantations.
Tate and Lyle furnished the community with dormitories of substandard construction. These laborers subsisted on substandard meals provided by the plantation proprietors.

Five years of unpaid labour were required before they could be eligible to receive a parcel of land.
Hinduism, rather than a religion, endured as a way of life for their community. It was an experience that they would never forget. I understand that they would sing various songs and read their holy texts on a weekly basis.

My family and I decided to travel to three mandirs in remote regions of Trinidad and Tobago. I desired to personally experience it for myself.

The following is what I discovered: Community-funded structures of devotion that are of substandard construction. They would assemble on Saturday evenings and Sundays to hear a Pandit recite from a book that is more than five thousand years old. He would translate for approximately ninety minutes while the audience sat on the concrete floor. They were accompanied by a small ensemble consisting of an organ, drums, and a sharp-edged steel piece with a circular design on the other. This item belonged to the musical ensemble. It is my understanding that the farmer would ultimately return it, bury it, and affix animals to it, then bring it back on weekends.
They welcomed us with the knowledge that we were Canadian visitors.

Throughout my three visits to such mandirs, I never once heard anyone disparage a religion or attempt to persuade me to join. Their primary aims were to express gratitude towards the earth for bestowing upon them the essential resources required for sustenance and enjoyment of existence.

There was not a tray for collecting funds...

Following these celebrations, they ensured that all attendees were provided with a luncheon. We were each given a portion of a banana leaf upon which food was spread, and we consumed the food using our hands. We were required to initially cleanse our hands.

One of their statements particularly resonated with me: " Upon our birth, Mother Earth bestows upon us all that is necessary to live a fruitful and joyful existence."
We return to her location with nothing and depart in the same manner.

Googley, whom I contacted upon my return (you will observe that I am teasing him), sent me some materials to examine.
I gain knowledge in this manner by observing the opposing viewpoint.

You must realize that I am not religious and have no intention of becoming one; my interest is purely secular.

I just returned from a 24 day visit to Bharat and saw a country in rapid economic transition with massive infrastructure projects from Delhi to UP, Kerala, Goa, Karnataka, Mumbai. The new airports had the latest modern equipment and conveniences and honestly years ahead of most in the West. There’s a booming middle class of ~750 M young highly educated multilingual individuals. I was really impressed by the younger generation, a far cry from the bigots of the older generation. And everyone, from the taxi drivers to the busboys at the hotels, christian, hindu and muslim , they praise one man, Mr Modi and the BJP for their new found prosperity. So I do not think Modi and the BJP need the Ram temple (it opened the day after I left) to win an election. I do not see them losing power anytime in the near future.

Once the government performs for it's people, no gymnastics required to hold on to power!

Congrats to Modi!
