Thanks Dayne.

Given the results of the WI team at all levels, the CEO lasting 7 years is a rarity in private enterprise.

go to the head of the class
It crazy we failing so badly and he is still in place

On the one hand, you don’t want too much chopping and changing as an organization.

Continuity to some extent IS an asset.

But they’re also in the performance and results business. Which is why even though continuity to some extent is desirable, it’s rare the CEO is in place for so long given prolonged failing results and performances.

He and others of his ilk and should not have been placed in such high
position by a Regional Entity.
But its WICB we dealing with...
No talented and qualified Caribbean citizen available with all cricket means to the Region ?

Says a lot about the people in the Region too.

Come boys ,let us white man show you ?????

I guess he is very well paid too..for what ????

My two cents.

Fair (no pun intended) point

That said……if CWI (or whatever they calling themselves these days) desire to be a global entity serving a regional purpose, in a global game AND business, an organization seeks the best available talent.

Regardless where on the planet that talent is from or their ethnicity.

Not the best available talent in the region.

I like how yuh say dis part wid certainty.

Now say the part about termination after failing to get the job done wid certainty too and stop waffling when you reach dat part.

2 years or so in and it was covid...would you have fired him at that point or in the middle of covid or right after?

i guess that is a factor?

also what was he employed to do?

if you listened to that interview you'd realise a lot of his work seems to be around finance and survival of the cwi, in the context of a changing cricketing world...

all that to say it's probably not just about results on the field

Headley 2024-01-22 23:25:31

If his ass was black he would be out of there a long time ago.

during the pandemic when cricket was hardly being played

i hear you but i wonder if that played a role

i myself was surprised when I heard him say 7 years in the interview and thought about why so long...

who were the previous CEOs and how long they lasted? i don't remember these things

Doosie I did not do a proper analysis. I just said 7 years even with 2 years of Covid, is a long time to be well paid for such poor results. Is there something he is doing which a West Indian could not do to achieve comparable or better results?

We don't cut our own any slack so why are we making excuses for an Englishman?

doosra 2024-01-24 00:13:56

In reply to Headley

to be very clear, i am not making an excuse for him....it just occurred to me that that is the temporal reality and wondered if it was a factor

nothing more, nothing less

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/johnny-grave-named-wicb-chief-executive-1076782

The WICB has appointed Johnny Grave as its new chief executive. Grave, who is serving his notice period at the Professional Cricketers' Association in England, where he has been employed as commercial director for the last nine years, will assume the WICB role from February.

The position of the WICB CEO was left vacant once Michael Muirhead stepped down on October 14 last year, although he continued in the role until December at the request of the board.

The man appointed by Cameron....continued till date just like Jimmy Adams..... results??? Only administration knows...draws big pay check...

Let's see how things be this summer
I think Dominic Warne, The Commercial Director left cause I'm seeing an ad placed for a commercial director
Maybe de CEO there till the end of the WC and we'll see how it plays out (pun intended)
He really is one the longest-serving person I've seen at West Indies cricket of recent memory.
