Can someone shed some light on the fact that Jamaica will be hosting 10
matches in the upcoming Regional Season and no games are
slated for the Greenfield Stadium ?
There may be solid reasons for such but some info could be useful.
Sabina is down for 5 games, ChedwinPark 3 and Kensington Park 2.
When did the last named last hosted a FC Game. ?

It boggles the mind for real.
I can understand that to cut costs especially for accommodation, it is
better to have most matches in the Kingston Meto Area.
But to neglect the only facility that was constructed for International cricket by any government
is untenable.
I fully supported PJ's initiative to have such a facility near to the Second City of Montego Bay
and I got some negative feedback back in 2006 as the KCC Membership saw it as a threat
to Sabina Park and was not necessary.
And of course I pushed back hard at them as Jarrett Park was no longer viable for cricket and
a venue was needed for that region.
I was however disappointed that the Govt of the day did not make the playing area much bigger
as it could really be a multi sport facility.
Seeing that cricket is on the back burner by all involved now,had the area been larger it could easily be
retro fitted for Track and Field Stadium able to accommodate Nine Lanes of 400m track which is new
requirement now by the IAAF if one wants to host the biggest events.
The National Stadium does not fit the fit the bill unless it is retro fitted for the 9th Lane and that may not
be possible and if it is , I know of no plans by the People concerned to do so in all the promises given
for its improvement.
Something aint right in Denmark.
Whoi is it that decides the venues for the Regional cricket matches ? Is it the WI Board or the
JCA. or God forbid, the JLP through the Sports minister ?
Those are three losers to start with so .....forget it.
I would have thought that JCA with help from the JLP folks would be looking to work with the Devoted Group at
Treasure Beach to bring that facility to FC or even international standards for that part of the Island which
includes what should be a Third City of Mandeville.
We all know however that where cricket is concerned, it is in a comatose state from govt to Cricket Board
and that is untenable .
I am more that saddened by what cricket has has become in my beloved land of my birth.
However, I hope those younger than me,like you will not reach my level of frustration.

Both you and me can recall a time in JA cricket history when even in winter competent JCA admins would have hotels jumping over each other as sponsors (accommodation, ground transportation and meals) From WC 2006 to now I’ve been asking when will JCA promote The stadium as a pre-season training facility. Even with nowadays indoor facility some county will still come down for training/bonding.

Maybe the Kensington CC affiliates, Wavell and the Big Idiot, still hold influence.
Sorry, I just had to seize the opportunity to give those two a shout-out.

That was part of the selling point by the Politicians to gain free money at the Jamaican tax people.
Even enticing Major league Spring training baseball as being considered..a cricket academy at the venue
was also discussed.
Jamaica will never pay off China for that and other infrastructure they are putting in...so far the Chinese have got more land
along the toll roads...big sell out of the country and where cricket WC 2007 is concerned that nearly 30Million US $$$
is a cow pasture...
BUT there is hope..Multi talented and occupied Wavell Hinds is now the Opposition PNP spokesman and future Minister of Sports.
Perhaps someone should let him know that Greenfield not getting any cricket matches while his Club ,Kensington, inferior in
ambiance, beauty and outfield will be hosting 2 of the 10 games assigned to Jamaica.
If a laugh a p====p
God help us ...citizens at home and abroad, and God Help Jamaica

You could go back to 1928 when Maas George debut vs Tennyson's XI to try and find a FC match at Kensington.
remember when Red Stripe games were played at Kaiser in St. Ann and Alpart in St. Elizabeth?
