The cliche of California having a larger GDP than the world's biggest nations begs for closer examination. Biden in 2022 place 'sanctions from hell' on Russia to turn the 'rouble into rubble'. Biden told us Russia's economy is several times smaller than California.
Two years later Russia continues a war against Ukraine and the combined super rich NATO, Japan, G7, etc.
At the same time Russia launches budget busting space craft and nuclear subs, increases pensions and builds mega bridges. IMF reports the Russian economy is growing to boot. Is the Russian economy really many times smaller than California's.? Would California's economy withstand the economic tsunamis Russia seems to battle with relative ease? i

An economist I am NOT bro, I have no idea how GDP is calculated. Google says its “the goods and services produced by the nation's economy less the value of the goods and services used up in production.” With that definition, I am puzzled as to how twenty million people in California produce more net income than India with over a Billion people.
I do agree with Jeremy that Indians are some of the smartest people I have encountered in my life’s journey...
