Wow! Pinch me
Honestly, I had stopped believing in Windies test cricket. So, I had decided, I would go to bed and wake up for the Australian Men’s Final, but then thought I would stay up for a little while and watch some cricket, especially this Joseph fellow.
Then, wickets started to fall and I thought, this is intriguing, l’ll stay a little longer. And now, the rest is history.
I am so glad I did. I watched history in the making.

I woke up in time to see the last wicket fall.
The celebrations were great!

Remarkable!! Die hard TEST cricket fan here, but I'm going to be honest and say I thought AUS winning today was a foregone conclusion. Had my hopes up in the first innings when Australia were around 60/5 and Shamar made Alex Carey's bail spin(never seen that), but it felt inevitable after they knocked off the deficit. It was that same feeling of resignation every time we come up against australia since choking away that 96 world cup match. So needless to say, I went to bed early and didn't tune in to the match. For some weird reason, I woke up and peaked a my phone a few overs before dinner and my wife yelled at me to go back to bed. Closed my eyes for a few minutes and thought, well I might as well watch us lose. Tuned in and was shocked to see Shamar bowling as I was sure he was out of the match. Then I was alarmed to see him bowling at 145-150 clicks AFTER BOWLING ALMOST 10 ON THE TROT! So then it's a delayed lunch and I'm like well might as well wait it out, and boy am I glad I did. 3+ hours later and I'm still up. That boy Shamar is a gem- fast, accurate, fearless, hostile with an infectious personality to boot. The ball of the match for me was the one to steve smith towards the end where he edge to where second slip would've been. Smith had that holy f$%king shit look on his face. This was one for the ages!
Gotto edit to say Kudos to KB. He might not be in form but he's a good, intelligent captain. We're too harsh and oms of these young men sometimes. I feel old saying that.
I wasn’t brave enough to watch any of it live … got up to check the score & my jaw hit the floor… WI won & Joseph whom I thought was out of the match with 7 wickets… what an incredible test match… what an incredible & heartwarming win … it doesn’t get any better than this.
I’m not ashamed to admit I cried.

I think we all cried. If you were able to hold it at first, you definitely lost it when you saw Hooper and Lara. I don't think anyone outside of the players and us diehard fans truly understand what this meant. From breaking our 15 year unbeaten run in test cricket, to stealing the 1996 world cup match, to BCL 153, to chasing 400+ and now this. Hope to be there the day we beat Australia in a test series.
