this kid is the real deal. He excels under duress without losing a beat. Congrats on accomplishment Shamar.

Who Shamar Joseph reminds you of our elite pacers
In reply to Cricket_101
I think his delivery is most similar to Michael Holding!
More of Marshall with the skid and seam movement ?
In reply to StumpCam
Am thinking of Holding as well with his smooth run-up
In reply to doosra
Marshall had very fast arm action and whippy delivery IMO!
In reply to doosra
He definitely has movement, but i recall, Marshal had stutter runup.
In reply to Cricket_101
I wasn't thinking the run up but his skid and swing
But yes
Not tall like our greats but he has the lean build for fast bowling. Once he don't look to bulk up, he will be fine. Main thing is, he is getting the ball to move in both directions off the seam - something that made McGrath and Ambrose world class. Pace by itself useless if it going gun barrel straight.
A bit like the Bajan legend...Joffra Archer...slim built quick arm action..brisk pace..
A young Kemar Roach. Hope SJ get a partner because fast bowlers hunt in tandem.

I am impressed with the speed touching 150
He reminds me of Shamar Joseph

I was worried about Alzarri Joseph performance in Test Cricket as he was bowling too short. However, I saw a big improvement in the 2nd test where his lengths were much better and actually looked like he could have taken a couple more wickets. Bowled some very good deliveries that could have easily nicked off. If he bowl more consistently on a good length, he will be better. He was way too short previously and it reflected in his numbers.
I like the action of Shamar, seems there is an economy of effort and not a lot of stress on his body.

De boy head is hard. How many times has he worked with his countryman Ambrose who I am sure has drummed into his head: "top of off stump?"
A new speedster in Shamar Joseph has come on the scene and he is touting and effecting this strategy with great success. And all this after 3 innings bowling.
The "God's gift to West Indies cricket" is either too arrogant, foolish, hardheaded or lazy to acknowledge and practice this.
.................
Way to go Shamar..."top of off."
In reply to jen
Alzarri lets game events affect his bowling too much. Have to put the bad ball, or dropped catch behind him and refocus on the job.
You see Shamar or Roach smile off the same events and hit the straps again. Alzarri tend to let is linger and effect his bowling.

The greatest WI pace bowler Malcolm Marshall

So alzi Joseph was his partner today

100% agree.

They need to build on it now. Young Thorne, Clarke and Layne on the U19 coming along. AlJo will be the senior leader soon.
Shamar is Patrick Patterson recreated.

Hey jen, glad to C U R still around.
I see many people...not necessarily Windian. His approach to the wicket reminds me of Waqar. His snappy arm action generating pace from a relatively slight frame is like Marshall.
The guy's forearms look like Popeye's lol.
What a find indeed.
In reply to Cheeks
those forearms come from farm and labour work man
strong youth
Malcom Marshall
We need another pace bowler to come.join that setup

funny enough..I was about to start a thread about A J s bipolar approach to Bowling...that was the working title too.
I dont care to be too critical but just observing how he has to pick the correct side of the bed to get up on before he bowls.
The no balls were , well unwelcome, as he is OUR STRIKE Bowler and while I know he is over joyed we won and he was happy for his namesake debutant Shamar Joseph....
one cannot help but wonder if he was too self aware watching Shamar literally steal the spot light with INSTANT results in BOTH Test matches..
like I said...was gonna start that thread for discussion...but ..you touched on it...Ill save the readers some time now
Oh and..when one sees the debut of Shamar Joseph...
some persons here may begin to understand why I refuse to RANK Oshane Thomas as a Bowler.
he has too many boxes left to tick for me.
In reply to Cheeks
Waqar had too many deliveries back of a length this guy tend to be full.
In reply to powen001
I will say it quite simply: We cannot depend on Al Joseph to win any test match.
There is ample time for him to improve if he is hungry enough and he wants to change his fortunes in test cricket.

I see your ample time.to improve..and I raise you...

He bowled his heart out. Similar skill set to Shamar..just need a radar adjustment.
Shamar reminds me a little of Holding in 76 where Holding kept the ball full and fast and was able to get some movement
Reminds me of Malcolm Marshall
He reminds me of a young Culpepper boy.
no one really, he did himself, youngsters gonna want to be him, even down under. Real Pace and skiddy, raw talent.

Good observation regarding Aljo. Aljo bowled the best I have seen him bowl in Test cricket. His lengths as always been his issue but this match he was on a fullish length that saw him beating the bat with more regularity. He created pressure that contributed to the collapse. Remember he took 6 wickets in the match and could have been even more. Hopefully this will catapult him to higher heights.

The no ball suggested he was trying hard to get wickets and generate pace. Quit nitpicking. Yes I agree that he loses his focus when things don't go his way like that Dasilva dropped catch in the 1st Match. The two Josephs, Seales and hopefully we could find some back up talent to deepen our fast-bowling pool.

What a find indeed
Coming from someone that workout a lot, that is exactly what I was thinking. Lol
