JA Squad 4DR
In reply to buds
Not seen anything yet. Still waiting for the Leeward squad & the Academy squad.
Jamaica squad going to Be really interesting after the farce of the 50 over tournament recently completed.
In reply to robbo
I agree. We do not have anyone in the pipeline that I know of that is beating down the door. Do you know if John Campbell still playing?
In reply to buds
Is John Campbell not serving a ban?
In reply to voiceofreason
It should up by now.. I think it was a two year ban.
In reply to voiceofreason
According to a decision by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO), West Indies batter John Campbell has been banned for four years for violating an anti-doping rule 1. The decision was made by a three-member independent panel, following a charge of evading, refusing, or failing to submit to sample collection 1. JADCO accused Campbell of refusing to provide a blood sample at his home in Kingston in April 2022 1. The ban is backdated to start from notification of the violation on May 10, 2022 1. Campbell has played 20 Tests, six ODIs, and two T20Is for West Indies 1.
Four years
In reply to voiceofreason
His career is done. Four years is too much.
In reply to buds
Yes. That is a long ban guess it did not warrant an appeal?
I heard a rumour thst jonathan carter will lead the ccc side
It's understood that Peat Salmon on the back of his two centuries in the trial matches, is part of the squad that is to be captained by Jermaine Blackwood.
Chadwick Walton who last played a 4-day match in 2019, is expected to partner Carlos Brown at the top of the order.
Nkrumah Bonner, Romaine Morris, Brad Barnes, Abhijai Mansingh and Marquino Mindley are also part of the Andrew Richardson-coached team.
The Scorpions who did not win a match in last season's tournament, will take on the Windward Islands at Sabina Park starting on February 7.
In reply to robbo
Leeward already released their squad about 3 days ago
In reply to voiceofreason
appeal failed no?
Last year because the contracts for the Jamaican Selectors had expired the Jamaican team was selected by Rovman Powell and the head coach. It looks like that might happen again this season, which might not be good. Last year team was the oldest selected team in the region and they still brought last.
Squad ;
Jermaine Blackwood (capt)
Nkrumah Bonner
Derval Green
Abhijai Mansingh
Peat Salmon
Jeavor Royal
Kirk McKenzie
Marquino Mindley
Gordon Bryan
Romaine Morris
Carlos Brown
Chadwick Walton
Ramaal Lewis
In reply to robbo
Hmm, not 15? Ramaal failed his promise. Remember him from U15. Thank Walton and say goodbye, yes?
In reply to Brerzerk
It’s a ‘boring’ squad to me…. I’m guessing there aren’t any promising youngsters around…apparently Salmon scored 2 centuries in the trial games… thought he was a spinner.

In reply to robbo
Is this a Jamaican Pensioners Squad? What are Chadwick, Derval and even Bonner and Blackwood doing in a Yard squad? Where are Jordan Johnson and young Wedderburn?
In reply to FanAttick
Not sure who is going to be in the Academy squad but yes… surely there is one young bat & one young quick bowler worth investing in ?…by young I mean 21-23 that type of range .
De old foot ting never work last Yr then how it ago somehow dis Yr ?
In reply to robbo
Apparently that young quick is with the CCC. His name is Govasta Edmond. Played for STETHS and left STETHS last year. Was with Jamaica U-19 in 2022. Jamaica's selectors have been doing this foolishness for decades. I remember how long it took them to FINALLY incorporate Hinds, Gayle, Lawson, Ricardo Powell into the team.
In reply to robbo
Had he not issues with his actions going back a few years, maybe only batting now
Where's Leroy Lugg these days?
In reply to FanAttick
It definitely is beyond pensioners age. I am not sure where JA is going with this squad. I can only hope for the best.
In reply to WICFan
Yea! Where is Leroy Lugg?
In reply to Slipfeeler
Cutting canes
Jamaica won the U17 and U19 tournaments last year... They better off picking some of those youths and start developing them instead of picking guys like Walton etc.
Invest now and in a few years you'll hopefully start reaping the reward....
In reply to anthonyp
You know it's pathetic when you have to turn to 40+ year old to open and or be in your squad!! Ordaine Thomas has regressed. No word about him as a wk batsman.
In reply to FanAttick
Me a Tit was looking to see Jordan Johnson in the Jamaican squad, wah dey waiting for.
Where is JA going with Walton? Nowhere. I am not interested in watching these games. However I watch when Mckenzie is at the wicket.

Found a video of Edmund via Google bowling in 2023…. He took 4 wickets & looked impressive.
Will be interesting to see who is In Academy squad .. presumably much the same squad that played Emerging Ireland recently.
In reply to buds
Other than old man Walton and the regressing A. Thomas. Who else have they got for the wicketkeeper position?
In reply to buds
RAEWIN SENIOR should have been a staple in this Jamaica side by now except for some unfathomable reasons
Chadwick Walton still being picked as the Jamaica wicketkeeper?
What happened, none of Jackie Hendricks,Anthony Campbell or Jeff Dujon was available?
In reply to jacksprat
It's so sad. Our great tradition of wktkeepers are long gone.
In reply to WICFan
If they don't have another upcoming wicketkeeper they can't pick one from outside of Jamaica?
Barbados got a talented young wicketkeeper... Rivaldo Clarke... They could give him a chance instead of Walton.
We are fortunate, Joe Biden is 81!
is this for the masters tournament?
In reply to buds
These guys think this is the best group of players.

What age did Gayle debut in tests? If he did so at such a young age and played for Yard long how was he kept out? How many seasons did Gayle open with Garrick, remember that 500 partnership?
In reply to FanAttick
Just seen the squad and looks like too many 'over the hills ' and
some ' never will bes ',
First thought is that they will struggle to better their cellar position of last season.
Do hope I am wrong tho
In reply to Brerzerk
The only one from Wavell and Gayle's era that was kept out , was Lambert.
As a CAtherine player I thought he would suffer the same fate as one Herbert Bailey
who never got a chance .. But like Pinnock, Lambert got late recognition and look
how that panned out ..
Jamaica's cricket needs serious help from Top to bottom.
Hope things change for better ,soon.
In reply to Brerzerk
Gayle and Hinds SHOULD HAVE played EARLIER than they did. Jamaica had an older team most of that year, the youngsters came in for the non league portion of the cup when Walsh came back from West Indies duties as captain. The older batting unit struggled. The new batting unit scored runs v Barbados and then they beat Barbados who were Busta Cup league champions.
In reply to Brerzerk
Gayle got into partnership with Garrick after coming back from the U-19 disaster of overage players where he had to be sent as a replacement. Gayle had first been selected as a middle order batsman and we struggled a little finding Garrick a partner. That 500 run partnership was 2001, I believe against West Indies A where Lawson was bowling for the A team at the time.
In reply to robbo
Yh. He gave problems to his fellow schoolboys and according to one report from last year-pacy. Had injury setbacks in 2022 for Jamaica U-19 but did bowl well for STETHS and took wickets.
In reply to robbo
Can you link that vid here?
What happened to de fella who was an opener for the Jamaica team, went UWI and was highly regarded as a captain?
He never really made much runs but it appeared he was being groomed to take over the leadership of the team
In reply to imusic
Odaine Thomas.
In reply to buds
Maybe he is thinking of Palmer. the guy who made his FC debut as Captain.
In reply to buds
The next time I run into Jomo, he will know his batsmanship is needed.
In reply to hubert
...and proceeded to contribute little more than spinning the toss a la another notable passenger/captain and favourtism pick in West Indies cricket.
In reply to buds
No. I think his name was Palmer?
Yes…..Hubert is right
