Will be the most celebrated bowling spell by a west Indian bowler of all times. Why? Social media will make it so. Forget Holding's great over to Geoff Boycott or Curtley Ambrose's 7/1 etc...etc... all done before Internet life existed.
I've seen it a zillion times without searching for it that's how popular it has become. Plus the more i see it is the more I get emotional over it.

That 7/ 68

It is being celebrated because it was against all odds.
Again, to see the sheer shock and disbelief on the faces of those ex-Aussie cricketers as the wickets were falling told the story.
Even Lara was in utter disbelief.
And the bookies only changed their odds to a Windies win after the wicket of Lyon!

Holding wasn’t in his first series, plus he was bowling to old men Brian Close, Denniss Amiss, Boycott!

The story behind it even make it more so...plus "lambs"

Crofty took 8 for 29 at the QPO vs Pakistan... A lot of good batsmen in that lineup...
His second Test Match, I believe..

Look, I do remember that but it's in a time where it's stats on a piece of paper with old folks like me recalling the feat from a transistor radio. Yeah Croft did a legendary thing, then against Pakistan in his second test match. Holding's 14/149 on a docile pitch against England ....fantastic but no soundtrack can be put to a visual image of it with commentators harping about it , with sub plot footage to sweeten the storyline etc....etc.... just not social media tic toc substance...

I recall on that incident when my wife (my girlfriend back then), with a straight face, saying that they shouldn't make Holding play because he causes the game to be over too quickly.
Ok, I know it's out of context, but I'm just taking advantage of the opportunity.
I also recall Henry Blofeld saying in his summary of the day's play, "It was the performance of a lifetime, but he went out in the 2nd innings and did it all over again.".

Unnuh fi stop undervalue ppl's achievement. The same Denis Amiss made 200 vs WI in WI 2 yrs earlier and then another 200 in that same match when Holding took 14.. It was only Holding's 3rd series and he was just 7mths into his In'tl career. 14wkts on that pitch was also against the odds. From day 1 everyone thought it would be a draw. NB Amiss missed most of the series because in a tour match pre-series Holding smashed his face. Not only did Holding take 14 but he smashed 30+ off 14 balls with 5x4 and one 6. Until the advent of big bats Michael Anthony had the highest ratio of sixes per runs as well as innings.

The Honorary White never ever really got his due for that feat. That Pakistani lineup was legendary starting with Moin at #1 the classy Abbas at 4 I think
When Holding bowled that legendary over to Boycott it wasn’t broadcasted live on the radio. They paused for horse racing commentary and returned to the game with an atmospheric crazy buzz at the crowd with Tony Cozier recapping what had happened…Times have truly moved on since.
