Checking our Kevin Sinclair's bowling. He's VERY ordinary
At this point, Chase is a better bowler. Not to mention Cornwall & Charles.
We also have no wrist spinner resembling international class
Our best spin options are all left arm orthodox
That does not bode well for WI in the spin department.
BTW....congrats J Mo on your century. You've demonstrated once again that you excel at this level.

why not
Vettori
Herath
Jadeja (Ojha prior)
Shakib
Maharaj
Axar
Santner
Leach
Akeal (close to 100 intl wickets), Motie 49 (have not done too badly for WI)
if you are good enough you can contribute
in fact, world cricket does not have the sort of leggies and mystery spinners like we last say in the 90s and early 2000s
one could argue the 2 best most consistent spinners on the world stage over the last 10 years have been offies Lyon and Ashwin...and they mostly don't play limited overs
Presently none of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa play a leggie ...in fact who are the consistent all-format leggies? England has Rashid, Australia, Zampa...but they are limited overs bowlers
collectively taken, one could make the argument that the last decade has been the decade of the lefties...

Tage Replacement In reply to imusic
Chase has been tried and tested and found wanting, Kevin Sinclair has to be given a long run (10 matches)

Read again.
Where did I say that it’s only about wrist spinners?
I’m pretty sure I started off with our off spinners.
What’s Lyon again?
In reply to imusic
I was surprised to see Sinclar and Kirk Mckenzie playing, I am a fan of the youngster, his bowling today is out of character.
In reply to imusic
we have no offie and no wristy of note...and that is not good for us...i took that as your main point...if i misread you then apologies
i hope the long list of lefties that i put out along with the almost empty list of wristies convince you otherwise
In reply to doosra
Doosie you know your stuff man. I have nuff respeck for you and your cricketing knowledge.
I’m just saying aside from Motie and Akeal, we really have nothing in the cupboard spin wise and that’s concerning.
Nothing appears to be on the horizon either
In reply to imusic
that is the main worry...
with the demand for leggies around the world I am very suprised that I am not seeing more youngsters around at least trying
back in the 90s every regional u19 team had at least 1 legspinner...Guyana sometimes had as many as 3 or 4...now you are lucky to find one or two in the entire tournament
that so many lefties are about is a mystery in its own right
In reply to doosra
A perfect example of the cricket system's malfunction. Yet for the last TEN (10) years "spin" has been the dominant mode of attack by regional teams in first class tournaments.
In reply to doosra
I don't know if you have seen this video, if you haven't, watch it.
I happened to watch it during the pandemic and was taken in by what I saw.

the man dont even eat curry
dall alone lol
In reply to doosra
I fully understand why the man had put an X on Indian curries. Unless you have a steel stomach you can't eat that stuff and play professional cricket. It's as if Indian chefs only have hot chilies in their larder After one week in India I had to skip the buffet and order a la carte with strict instruction to hold the hot chile.
In reply to openning
You gotta give Kohli credit for the intensity and hustle he plays the game with. The man knows what he needs to do to get there. These are things that are sorely lacking from the large majority in the West Indies.
In reply to Titleist
I have written numerous times about a player who practices from sunrise to sunset seven days straight, in preparation for Australia.
Bobby Simpson in one of his books wrote this, I felt sorry for the youngster when he came to the wicket I felt sorrier for my bowlers, as his inning progressed.
That Batman went on to score a double century.
That same player was acting as Dwayne Smith's coach, after a few months, he gave us, Dwayne was not willing to put in the time, and resorted during training to being a power-hitter.

Day 2 - live
Edmond Govasta looks pacy!
Whoever running Jamaica cricket needs sacking.. They got talent like this and playing a set of deadweights?
In reply to anthonyp
Petty politics every where in West Indies cricket Bro.
I hazard to guess that a dozen or so Shamar Josephs have come and gone within the past 10-15 years and we never got to see them because of petty politics and favouritism.
In reply to SnoopDog
Impressive bowling by the youngster so far!
Picks up his first... Kraigg fending a short one to de man under de bat... He nearly knocked down McCaskie earlier with a short one.

Hearing the pitch wet in T&T vs Guy match.
I am all for spreading the matches to rural grounds but at least get some good covers. Most of these club ground have poor drainage. If CWI wants to use these grounds, help the clubs out to upgrade facilities.
Looks like the match called off... All the covers are coming on.
Why schedule first class matches at these venues? CWI should sending a team to assess these grounds beforehand. It's shameful to be playing FC cricket on grounds like that.
In reply to WIForever
Do you know why the Bim v CCC game started a day late?
