How do we ensure Mayers

Doesn't regress from this peak, a la, Dwayne Smith and even Hope. Hope still has time to sort things out, and he is one of the better odi players in world cricket, so that's something, but I don't want Mayer's to be a one hit wonder. Obviously he won't score 200 each time he plays, but he needs to tighten up and re-focus.

Mayers still needs to work on his batting, is is a bit of hit and miss sometimes, especially his defence, and against tougher opposition, he could struggle. His bowling also shouldnt fall away, could be a handy 3rd or 4th seamer in most conditions

You've got to hope that if the T/20 franchises come calling he doesn't just become a globetrotter.

Central/Retainer contracts are there, but CWI also needs to get camps, facilities, around the regions for these guys to iron out technical flaws.

Can you blame them?

They all will jump for greener pastures, given the chance. The IPL and other T20 Countries pay well. This will continue for years to come until CWI cut back on the unnecessary staff and funnel the money to the players who bring in the bulk of the revenue.

CWI does not pay well and it cannot be trusted to pay the players their salaries on time either. That is why you see players, like Hetmeyer, Pooran, Paul, Russell, Lewis, Lendl, Walsh, Brathwaite, to name a few.

I am proud of them for looking for greener pastures to support their families because the money is not in West Indies cricket.

If Windies cricket is a stepping stone to their fortunes, by all means, go for it.

Amazing the difference a flag can make

If that's the attitude then they should make it known to Regional Boards and Windies management from the outset.

Nobody should be denied playing T/20's, but there's a piss take when you won't go on International duty on a foreign tour and play T/10's instead.

I've said before CWI needs to do more commercially and look at the current setup around PCL retainers and Central Contracts.

We dont

He has to walk that road alone with one caveat.

I highly recommend a talk with B C LARA

I was privileged to see Lara.first hand..just before he chased that match winning 153

He knows how to visualize and centre his mind to the task...

Mayers has nothing to lose by speaking to Lara about that level of focus..He is the BEST person to hold Mayers hand in my opinion.

Exactly, he should also talk to him regarding strategies when playing spin.
