These current players - 38.24. In a real world both Bonner and lil Bravo would be on my test squad.

Bonner has a better test average than most of
In reply to Chrissy
Against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Sri Lanka.
The other test teams have fast bowlers
Anything over 80mph and he brings out all de guards yuh could think about...
I'm sure if he coulda wrap himself in bubble wrap he woulda do so
In reply to anthonyp
I don’t think Chrissy really cares about Bonner
You think Bonner want to face Rabada and co ever again?
In reply to imusic
So what keeps the other guys from have that average, I assume they can bat pace?
In reply to camos
At least they doh get likk dung
Bonner is fine playing against those teams I mentioned.
And that’s where he made his test runs anyway.
So pick him whenever we playing those teams. That way he gets to preserve, if not improve his test batting average, AND his physical well being.
bonner is too big for the game, need to fix that first
In reply to imusic
Wasn't he batting quite calmly until he tried to hook one that got big on him from Nortje? Didn't he even continue batting for a while after? Remind me please. I think just like Simmons, just like Adams and a whole host more he can overcome being hit...even twice.
Age is not on his side though so it would have to be now or never.
In reply to imusic
yes, but! the other players do not score even against teams you mention, which means Bonner still better
In reply to imusic
haha
he would end up with huge blows to the head
In reply to Chrissy
Bonner is a walking concussion protocol, he cant face the rising ball
In reply to bird
Bonner is just a poker.
Eventually any batsman will get a few good balls.
Poking is not a good stance.
Please do not misunderstand me.
Batsmen should respect good balls, but also put away bad balls for runs.
Bad enough we have Tage and Braffit at the top.
I see Braffit, Tage and Bonner poke bad balls.
That's not batsman-ship.
A bad ball is a bad ball whether is is the first ball of the 100th ball you face.
Pressure builds by not scoring.
I would not pay to watch Tage, Braffit or Bonner
Imagine all three in one game. WOW.
Bonner had a good run. Bye bye
In reply to imusic
Scored a century against England too.
In reply to WICFan
Yes and he batted well in that innings.
However, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.
Even a broken clock is right twice per day
Bonner is not a fit for West Indies
The likes of Athanaze, Carty, Hodge, Hope, Hetty, Greaves, even Mayers
are better options.
I await this 4-day competition to see who puts his hands up.
Consistent batting is the key.
Two or three centuries and a few fifties will convince me.
Not a good score against a weak attack.
I want to see batsmen demonstrating concentration, stroke play, and flexibility.
When bowling is tight, show good defense and put away bad balls.
When bowlers are tires or weak, hammer them.
No timid batting against pace, or being unsure against spin.
In reply to imusic
Bonner looks like Bambi on tour to Aussieland.
In reply to Chrissy
bonner is incompetent against pace bowling. was concussed the first ball he faced fom anrich nortje. looked even worse on the aussie tour in 2022. just not good enough

not one bajan batsman in the last 44 years of WI cricket
In reply to tc1
I like Bonner. Which is why I’m concerned for him.
He does his best and gives his all. You can’t ask for more of a player.
Other posters make good points. He has better averages than other test players. True. But his ability is limited as a batsman and he does have a serious weakness against the short ball.
It’s also true that he’s not alone in that regard. But the others didn’t have to get carted off and miss games due to concussion.
Someone brought up the name Phil Simmons. After Phil got hit in the head and nearly died, he was never the same batsman after that although he went on to become a somewhat serviceable WI player.
Pick Bonner against those test teams I mentioned. No issue if he merits it.
But for his own safety, keep him away from the Norjte’s, Rabada’s Woods’ Bumrah’s Starc’s etc of the game.
If the argument was the hit in Oz only it'd be more of a point. VS RSA Bonner got hit from a top-edged hook, it was no different than when Kalli one of the greatest hooker got smashed in the face. Kawaja is a good batsman and got hit. If the argument is that he pokes, not good enough, technique etc. fine those are reasonable. But, the man has come back and is not afraid to face pace which he will in the 4day albeit on slow pitches. I doan think he's gonna bat well enough to deserve a recall but I am yet to conclude that he has serious weakness vs the short ball. Up to the point of being hit in the RSA game he was pulling and even hooking a couple better than almost all other WI batsmen.

Tell us about tit's batsmen. We already know about Bajan batsmen. I await your postings about them.
In reply to Jumpstart
I will ignore your stupidity .
I have been hoping that you realize that this is about West Indies, but I give up on you.
I wish you the best bro. truly.
In reply to tc1
Please do not stoop to his level,
or should I say bend to his level, as your standards are way above him.
Sometimes one has to learn to ignore certain posts if not posters here.

DJ Bravo has two hundreds in Australia, one at the WACA. Denesh Ramdin has hundreds in England and NZ. The much maligned Darren Bravo has hundreds in India, Australia and a double ton in NZ versus boult, southern and wagner( who ended Sunil Ambris’ international career). Adrian Bharath has a hundred on debut at the MCG vs Mitchell Johnson. And wee have the Prince of Port of Spain, the greatest batsman of his generation and quite probs the most mentally tough of any West Indian batsman save George Headley. Lara alone better than every bajan batsman other than Sir Gary

Homie….we in Trinidad are a decidedly heterosexual people, hence we not facing a population crisis like a certain island in the Atlantic
In reply to TanteMerle
This is about Bonner’s safety. You really want to march the boy to an early death. Go ahead and feel that when yuh put on that helmet you can’t lose your life
In reply to TanteMerle
kool
In reply to Jumpstart
wow, yes indeed all world players, the best the Tits produce, we can argue with success.
FC avg of 28 after 89 matches
maybe a later developer?
he surely scared of real pace
In reply to tc1
Darren Bravo right now have a better avg than any bajan batsman in the last 30 years in test cricket. And I mean batsman not mascot like tino or RTN
In reply to Jumpstart
True
In reply to TanteMerle
are you saying all three are pokees?
In reply to Jumpstart
What is Bravo avg?
In reply to tc1
Cricinfo is yuh friend
In reply to Jumpstart/ Chrissy
And his avg is slightly better than poking KB, this proof how good Bravo is, we are speaking about the Bravo averaging is 36.
In reply to tc1
The real question is how bad every bajan batsman in since the great Dessie Haynes retired has been
In reply to Jumpstart
Tell us above the up and coming Tits players, tell us about the great Tit batmen ?
In reply to tc1
Brian Charles Lara…….better than every crappy, bad, ok, decent, good, very good, great bajan batsman with the exception of Sir Gary
No exceptions
In reply to imusic
Them bajans doh like to accept that the Prince was a once in a lifetime batsman, like Viv and Gary, the likes of which we shall never see again
