Game wardens rescue albino Burmese python in Las Lomas
Game wardens rescued an albino Burmese python in the Las Lomas area on February 10.
Conservator of Forests and Chief Game Warden, Denny Dipchansingh told Newsday the snake was found in an old freezer after a member of the public reported suspicious activity in the area.
He said people are being questioned and a charge under the Conservation of Wildlife Act is imminent."The presence of such an invasive species poses a significant threat to our local ecosystem and biodiversity. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with the illegal trade and possession of exotic animals. Burmese pythons, in particular, are notorious for their ability to disrupt native wildlife populations and upset delicate ecological balances."
Dipchansingh said the species of snake is not endemic to Trinidad and Tobago and can harbour pests and diseases that can affect local wildlife populations.

Guyanese were once thought to be an invasive species in T&T, but they blended in well to the ecosystem

Its not a native species. This one was a pet. None have been found in the wild
