West Indies selectors need to study Mikyle Louis

Although he has some rough edges ...

He reminds me a lot of the young "Vivian Richards".

You make a team by batting consistently, not one good score per tournament.
I like the energy shown by John and Springer.
Congrats to Mikyle Louis once again.

Benchmark should be 500 runs minimum for the batsmen for the entire tournament

dayne 2024-02-17 01:53:47

Louis is in the running for the backup opener for the tour to England if McCaskie don't start making runs. He has good concentrate and he does not flash at balls outside off-stump.

When did you start using 500 runs as your benchmark?
Are you not part of the jumping-a-waving crew after a youngster scores a ton?

What has McCaskie done to be selected in the first place?

What about waiting to see his performance during the remainder of the tournament?
He has my attention, that is all.

Compare

Cadogan
Ali-Mohammed
Thorne

To

Shepherd
Joseph
Smith
Paul

Though one must admit there was the experienced Permaul and SinClair.

You must be a mad man….there is nothing about him that can remind anyone of Viv.
He is more a adulterated copy of Kieron Pollard

Congrats to the kid though on a well played immortality

McCaskie has scored some fifties in First-class cricket in the regionals and South Africa on the A team, he also made a century in the CPL, which is better than the other available openers including Tage and Kraigg, so he has justified his selection.

Everyone is talking about Kevin Wickham, but the Barbados batsman that I have an eye on is Jonathan Drakes.

Uh oh. This already tells me Drakes cyah bat big grin

dayne 2024-02-17 16:08:49

Well, Drakes need to bring some notice to himself, he scored a fifty last match, now a century will do him good. Is he related to Vasbert Drakes?

In reply to dayne

I don't know if he is related, Vasbert son's name is Dominic, Jonathan's brother plays for Spartan, his name is Joshua Drakes.

I like the look of Wickham, he has a nice touch and has started the season very nicely. A good chance for the England tour if he gets a few more decent knocks in during the remaining rounds of the regional 4-day competition.

J.Drakes innings I did not see much of but will certainly keep an eye open for him from now on.
