Just got to tempt Nandu with some full ones and he will scoop one straight to cover or point. Don't know why it took WI Academy so long to figure that out.

There is no way on current form he should be in the Test side.

McKenzie does not inspire confidence...after given a clear life with a plum LBW early in his
innings he lofts a catch to mid on ..When one comes down the wicket to a spinner ,
one must be positive and hit the damn ball for six or play it had on the carpet or simply defend it which is better than playing bat up and catch.
If he continues to out like this and don't settle down for big innings, he won't
be around long...

His feet were stuck - went no where.

Symptomatic of appalling standards of contemporary West Indian batsmanship against spin.

If he had even chipped a half a step down that delivery it would have been a half volley.

anthonyp 2024-02-21 22:03:47

If Bim held their catches Morris would've been dismissed for 39. McCaskie dropped a sitter on the midwicket boundary.

McKenzie survived a plum lbw decision too... He was on 12 or so.

hubert 2024-02-21 22:12:45

Did not see the drop but McKenzie was plumb. Not too impressed with some of the umpiring.
Pity the Board can't afford DRS. Everyone is affected negatively with poor umpiring.

dayne 2024-02-22 12:55:14

Hopefully McCaskie make some runs today, Tage is badly out of it, we need competition for the opening spot. I am disappointed that Kevlon Anderson is not getting runs, he has the opportunity to show the Selectors that he is the leader of the otherwise weak batting in the Guyana team. The selectors should start paying interest in Cyruss the leg-spinner, he looks like the most potent leg-spinner in the region at the moment, last match he almost took three wickets in one over.

In reply to Chrissy

day 1

Opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul (14) failed to capitalize on his form from the last game, being outclassed by his Guyanese counterpart and local teammate, Nedd, who bowled well against his former teammates.

Nandu continued to look set for a score at the top of the order, digging in for a solid 66-ball 28 with four boundaries before being out caught, off the bowling of Layne.

Wicket-keeper Kemol Savory (9) had his stumps uprooted by Pittman, leaving Guyana heading into the tea break with almost half their side back in the Pavillion.

Sinclair and Alimohamed showed some resistance at the back end of the final session on day 1.

However, a rampant WIA bowling unit had other ideas as James completed his 5-fer with help from Bishop and Layne, the Academy eventually mowing down the champs before getting some time to acclimatize to the pitch prior to stumps.

Batsmanship in this region is at an all-time low.

It's going to be a while before we see elite international level batters like Shiv or Lara in these parts.

Survive what though?

There is no sustained hostile pace, raging turners, or international quality bowling.

If they were batting this way and actually surviving an entire day without losing their wickets they would have an argument. But they just survive for an hour at most with nothing to show for it when they get out.

Fcuking stupid cricket.

Imlach and Anderson, have both been coached and mentored by the best coaches in the region. Imlach was just on a senior team tour, surely u’d expect him to be far more accomplished than what he is displaying here. Anderson was with the A team, he has been exposed to better coaching as well.

This round so far I see a lot of batsmen stepping uo pushing in to sxore tons. That's good to see.
I realiae Kraigg like he remember how to bat too or he feel like his opening position is coming under threat. Whatever it is good to see him finding form. Still think he ain't deserves to be a sure pick. I think we need to wipe slate clean and start again. But really enjoying rhe cricket

Just tuning in but my heart is not much into the cricket as Hubert Lawrence's passing
has taken a toll on me. But I will recover soon enough.
The news was the first thing I saw when I logged in earlier..

Saw some colleagues here speculating that it was me..AS you well know i am over 80 years old.

HL was a great T&F analyst and he knew his cricket too..So I hope JA can pull off a miracle here today.smile

Kragg's foot movement and weight transfer are missing, he stands in his crease and uses his hands, leaving his weight always on his back foot.
I watched yesterday his forward defensive shot was from his back leg, his few forward drives are also started from his weight being on his back leg.
These areas should have been worked on, are there video cameras around the BCA or the Pride setup?

Wickham seems talented but is in a team with plenty of blind mice.
I keep telling Bajan posters who wish anyone that scores in one good inning to be selected, our cricketers are just not up to regional standards.

A 20 year old with a century, a 70 and 60 scored in each match. Each time he walked out the team was falling apart. In the first innings if KB didn't run him out another century was in the cards.

Right now he is the most talented batsman in Barbados and is building to become a dominant batsman once he stays focused from ball to ball.

I started being following cricket in 1957 when Wes Hall went to England and did not participate in any of the five tests, it was a learning experience for him.
On return he faced Empire, he helped his team when Empire batted in the first inning, but the experience of Everton Weekes and Seymoure Nurse was too much for the Parkites in the second inning.
Please don't bring 70s and 60s to me, our talent.
Wickham is no different from the Ryan Hinds and many youngsters we have seen in the last 25 years, I will not be part of the hype crowd, show me the money.
