In reply to velo
Imlach is the captain. Kevlon is VC.
Barbados vs Jamaica - Day 1
Barbados batting first... McCallister and Cumberbatch in for them.
Cowlasher Lugg in for Jamaica.
In reply to anthonyp
who's coaching these guys??
men foot not moving to the ball, late on half volleys, etc
When is windward vs ccc
Any links
tage just doesnt look the part, his defense only mindset seems to be a comfortable anchor that causes his wicket to fall too often
In reply to doosra
Just got to tempt Nandu with some full ones and he will scoop one straight to cover or point. Don't know why it took WI Academy so long to figure that out.
Play resumes
Scorpions 78/1
Carlos Brown 38*
Kirk McKenzie 25*
Kevlon Anderson gone now .. caught off Joshua James…. Guyana 86-3
In reply to conman
Dude struggling to get runs off half volleys and full tosses.
There is no way on current form he should be in the Test side.
Not seen or heard of the WI opening bowler Gilon Tyson before but from watching his opening burst this morning he’s got some pace… 27 years old & Dominican….
Perez gone now… again to James who has got something about him….
Guyana 91-4
Brown gawn fii 40
Great catch at 1st slip Warrican b McCalister

In reply to anthonyp
How much did tage make?
Kirk gives it away
Gawn ct Cumberbach b Warrican 40
103/3
McKenzie does not inspire confidence...after given a clear life with a plum LBW early in his
innings he lofts a catch to mid on ..When one comes down the wicket to a spinner ,
one must be positive and hit the damn ball for six or play it had on the carpet or simply defend it which is better than playing bat up and catch.
If he continues to out like this and don't settle down for big innings, he won't
be around long...
In reply to Chrissy
Tage was the first to go... Catching practice for first slip... Made 14 off 46.
Another stupid out
108/4
Lugg gawn now
In reply to anthonyp
Stewwwwwwwwwps
In reply to anthonyp
His feet were stuck - went no where.
Symptomatic of appalling standards of contemporary West Indian batsmanship against spin.
If he had even chipped a half a step down that delivery it would have been a half volley.
In reply to Chrissy
Did not expect anything from Lugg. Why is he playing anyway ? He bought the balls ?
I gawn. Will check back when Bim batting
In reply to hubert
Lugg Slug?
Batting is woeful this rounds. Its like an epidemic.

234/7
Morrison 68*
Another swipe - Green gawn
Talk about Swipe...Number 11 just did and got bowled with Morris(son of Morrison)
left on 97..
Where do they get these guys..could be his last game for Yard unless he cleans up Bim for a win
In reply to Chrissy
I like the look of Morrison ..How old is he?
In reply to hubert
If Bim held their catches Morris would've been dismissed for 39. McCaskie dropped a sitter on the midwicket boundary.
McKenzie survived a plum lbw decision too... He was on 12 or so.
In reply to anthonyp
Did not see the drop but McKenzie was plumb. Not too impressed with some of the umpiring.
Pity the Board can't afford DRS. Everyone is affected negatively with poor umpiring.
the west indies cricketers are not d0minating at all coming back down to this level
In reply to velo
Outside of Shamar Joseph and perhaps McKenzie, they never left that level
CCC 204 ALL OUT
In reply to anthonyp
Still no Darren Bravo?
Hopefully McCaskie make some runs today, Tage is badly out of it, we need competition for the opening spot. I am disappointed that Kevlon Anderson is not getting runs, he has the opportunity to show the Selectors that he is the leader of the otherwise weak batting in the Guyana team. The selectors should start paying interest in Cyruss the leg-spinner, he looks like the most potent leg-spinner in the region at the moment, last match he almost took three wickets in one over.
In reply to FanAttick
Born 1995 - I’m seeing his name as both Morris and Morrison.
Hubie alluded to dis and di commies and media haven’t helped.
His name is actually Morrison - 28
Has the Academy been de-coded??
Paint beating ball.
1 of 28 so far.
In reply to Chrissy
day 1
Nandu continued to look set for a score at the top of the order, digging in for a solid 66-ball 28 with four boundaries before being out caught, off the bowling of Layne.
Wicket-keeper Kemol Savory (9) had his stumps uprooted by Pittman, leaving Guyana heading into the tea break with almost half their side back in the Pavillion.
Sinclair and Alimohamed showed some resistance at the back end of the final session on day 1.
However, a rampant WIA bowling unit had other ideas as James completed his 5-fer with help from Bishop and Layne, the Academy eventually mowing down the champs before getting some time to acclimatize to the pitch prior to stumps.
WA 150-8 day 2
They need some drs technology in the wi
Such poor umpiring going on.
In reply to PalsofMine

In reply to SnoopDog
I cant remember. its been ah while, ah have to ask his grandpa
Nandu. just gawn. guyana 44-2
In reply to shivnotout
Tell Gramps to give him a good cut rass.
In reply to shivnotout
Batsmanship in this region is at an all-time low.
It's going to be a while before we see elite international level batters like Shiv or Lara in these parts.
A bunch of slow poke playing in this tournament.. Just trying to survive
Kraigg 28(120)
Anderson 3(32)
Imlach 3(39)
Piss poor batting!
In reply to anthonyp
Imlach and Anderson
6 from 79 balls
In reply to anthonyp
Zero intent shown by the two Guyanese at the crease. They have played 7 consecutive maidens as I type this msg.
6 from 85 balls
7 maidens in a row
In reply to Madmax
Make that 8 consecutive maidens, 48-2(29). Neither has made an attempt to sweep or use their feet and make the bowler adjust his length.
In reply to Madmax
finally a single after 9 overs
In reply to doosra
Look at how Sarfaraz Khan was playing the England spinners.. These guys need to learn how to use their crease like him.
This is really poor batting.
In reply to anthonyp
deh cyah bat
a watching Jewel Andrew and Wickham
they are the future
go get that 100 Jewel
In reply to anthonyp
shameful batting from Guyana
In reply to doosra
Jamaica got Peat Salmon flinging down the Bajans.
Standards in the region really low
In reply to anthonyp
Survive what though?
There is no sustained hostile pace, raging turners, or international quality bowling.
If they were batting this way and actually surviving an entire day without losing their wickets they would have an argument. But they just survive for an hour at most with nothing to show for it when they get out.
Fcuking stupid cricket.
In reply to anthonyp
Imlach and Anderson, have both been coached and mentored by the best coaches in the region. Imlach was just on a senior team tour, surely u’d expect him to be far more accomplished than what he is displaying here. Anderson was with the A team, he has been exposed to better coaching as well.
In reply to doosra
Jewel gonna take over the wk spot within then next year or so
In reply to Madmax
Tells you about the quality of the coaching they received.
In reply to anthonyp
that Andrew dude got 'it'
In reply to doosra
Looks like he knows how to score.
Defend what you have to defend and put away bad balls.
In reply to doosra
Hope Dr Haynes don’t pussyfoot with the young fella. Even if they want to keep DaSilva as keeper. Integrate him asap. No need to make him wait and lose interest in the game
In reply to Madmax
he should be the 2nd keeper to England
In reply to doosra
Gets out to a good ball but lack of footwork lead to that dismissal.
Didn't get behind it properly and ended up poking the bat away from the body.
In reply to doosra
Definitely looks a better prospect than Imlach AT THE MOMENT.
In reply to mikelegend
yea i don't know Imlach has much of an upside...not compared to Andrew

In reply to doosra
Imlach is overrated... Up to now ah dont know what he did to make the senior team.
Reminds me of when Griffith was Guyana selector/coach and he gave Imlach a contract ahead of Keemo & Hety when they returned from the U19 world Cup...
In reply to SnoopDog
No surprise there when you have Rayon Griffith as a coach!
In reply to StumpCam
Whatever happened to guys like Seeram, Sheik Mohammed, Azeemul Hanif etc.
They were all very good players of spin and good batsmen generally.
Surely one or more of them should be involved in youth level coaching in Guyana?
Good century by Ambris, going at more than a run per ball.
No love for the Volcanoes who is large and incharge

In reply to SnoopDog
Seeram is with the GCB... Something to do with talent development.
He's not in the spotlight anymore since the whole selection drama... He was picking his family ahead of Kevlon Anderson... People exposed them and since then he is in hiding.
Jewel missed out on a ton - gawn fi 85

Vikash Mohan looks a good opener he showed very good defence and showed good attacking instinct when needed,he wasn't there to juk every ball regardless the length and line.I saw him last year against the Jamaican quicks and he looked very comfortable against their pace bowlers.I know he is on 25 n.o, he is one I hope to see get to higher level.
Wwv 358 for 8 at stumps
Hodge 130 not out off 231 balls
A good stay at the wicket for the international player

what happens if next match Yard's 'cappo' fails again?
This round so far I see a lot of batsmen stepping uo pushing in to sxore tons. That's good to see.
I realiae Kraigg like he remember how to bat too or he feel like his opening position is coming under threat. Whatever it is good to see him finding form. Still think he ain't deserves to be a sure pick. I think we need to wipe slate clean and start again. But really enjoying rhe cricket

TT VS LEEWARDS LUNCH SCORE DAY 4:
Leewards need 162 for an outright victory, are 1 without loss at lunch.
Interesting set up indeed. I want to see both teams play positive cricket and go for the win.
In reply to Chrissy
Just tuning in but my heart is not much into the cricket as Hubert Lawrence's passing
has taken a toll on me. But I will recover soon enough.
The news was the first thing I saw when I logged in earlier..
Saw some colleagues here speculating that it was me..AS you well know i am over 80 years old.
HL was a great T&F analyst and he knew his cricket too..So I hope JA can pull off a miracle here today.

Kragg's foot movement and weight transfer are missing, he stands in his crease and uses his hands, leaving his weight always on his back foot.
I watched yesterday his forward defensive shot was from his back leg, his few forward drives are also started from his weight being on his back leg.
These areas should have been worked on, are there video cameras around the BCA or the Pride setup?

In reply to Chrissy
Wickham seems talented but is in a team with plenty of blind mice.
I keep telling Bajan posters who wish anyone that scores in one good inning to be selected, our cricketers are just not up to regional standards.
In reply to openning
A 20 year old with a century, a 70 and 60 scored in each match. Each time he walked out the team was falling apart. In the first innings if KB didn't run him out another century was in the cards.
Right now he is the most talented batsman in Barbados and is building to become a dominant batsman once he stays focused from ball to ball.
In reply to seaegg99
I started being following cricket in 1957 when Wes Hall went to England and did not participate in any of the five tests, it was a learning experience for him.
On return he faced Empire, he helped his team when Empire batted in the first inning, but the experience of Everton Weekes and Seymoure Nurse was too much for the Parkites in the second inning.
Please don't bring 70s and 60s to me, our talent.
Wickham is no different from the Ryan Hinds and many youngsters we have seen in the last 25 years, I will not be part of the hype crowd, show me the money.
