Poverty the mother of Crime

How could a land that this Government budget (over 500 billion dollars spent the last 8 years) , some of its citizens live in squalor, no water , electricity , poor healthcare and roads ,
but the PM travels the world and nominated to make $80,000 per month. The poor tries to survive on $3,000 per month....
The Oil and gas money squandered. sigh

Protest over Laventille boy’s murder

Residents of Laventille yesterday staged a peaceful protest against gang violence near to the spot where 12-year-old schoolboy Ezekiel Paria was fatally shot.

The Standard Five pupil of Eastern Boys’ Government Primary School was hit by a stray bullet as he stood on the sidewalk on Laventille Road on Thursday after gunmen opened fire on a car driving through the area. The gunmen were reportedly targeting a man seated in the vehicle.

Paria was a top-performing student who was preparing to sit the 2024 Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam on March 21.

He was killed just two days after pupils of the Gloster Lodge Moravian School in Belmont were left traumatised by another fatal shooting. Amoa Howe, 50, a father of five, was shot multiple times metres from the school’s front gate in plain view of staff and pupils on Tuesday.

Three men gunned down in Maraval

Police identified the deceased as Antonio “Minty” Trim, of Cascade, Jevon Peters, of Seventh Avenue, Malick, Barataria and Kirby Victor, of Beetham Gardens, Laventille.

Police reported that the trio were killed at Moraldo Street and Beard Street, Maraval, at 5.30 pm.

Initial reports stated that Peters and Victor were responsible for the killing of Trim at Beard Street and were later murdered at Moraldo Street by Trim’s friends.

There were also reports that police killed Victor and Peters in a shootout, after they killed Trim.
