72 years young today.
There will never be another Batsman with his presence at the batting crease. Never saw him play live however I recall watching him on TV as he strode to the crease with just a cap on to face the quicks. He took his time as he chewed his gum and marked his crease, and intentionally made the bowler wait as he looked around not just for field positioning but to remind the audience of whose stage it was. You knew what was coming and so did the bowler as you could tell with his hesitation and then reluctant runup. You knew that half the battle had already been won.
Arguably the greatest batsman to ever don the Maroon and maybe the greatest ever to hold a cricket bat.

VIV IN ACTION
This highlight package showed Viv somewhat vulnerable, but always defiant..
Back when Kensington Oval was Kensington Oval……not like recently where it’s become Union Jack Central. Certainly no longer any Mecca of WI cricket.
That title likely belongs to Dominica now.

Happy B-day Smoking Joe. A hiccup in Vivi mighty career is 20 average versus 5/6 Bajan horsemen of the apocalypse. Dukes (where's he) insists Joe couldn't be bothered facing the finest pacemen of his era(arguably any era). Vivi prefer look bad against the regional overlords to defiance for his beloved Leewards. What say u tit comic musicman.

When did the present baseball setup start?
I looked at the video, I saw the batsman timing the bowler's run-up by hitting his bat to every stride, then there was the balance foot and body movement of the batsman.
It's just beautiful to watch.
