if they stuck with a certain john for such an extended period, Tage deserves same. Powell unfortunately has been tried. Would not be wrong to take another opener along.

Powell for me would be required to score over 800 runs and average above 50 to be considered.

Well, everyone is forgetting that McKenzie is an opening batsman, if things don't improve with the openers he could fill in and then Carty or King could bat in the middle

Look another hundred or couple more 50s from Mikyle Louis and he must be on that tour to England. .

Since retirement of Haynes & Gordon.....

Phil Simmons
Campbell
Stuart Williams
Wallace
Lambert
Chattergoon
Ganga
Hinds
Gayle
Barath
Lendl Simmons
Powell
Smith.....many more....

Apart from Gayle....non was successful.....
Almost all average in 20's..... except Hinds and Campbell...at one point Campbell was averaging 60.... because of double century, just like Mayers ...but his performance became very poor....all openers were aggressive with the exception of Ganga but failed.

Now, Braithwaite is best among above in terms of run scored,..Tage in short career average 32.....He has played 4 away test against Australia....2 away test against South Africa..let the lad play at least 20 test...some test at home....then judge....
Both Braithwaite & Tage should continue as they are......bat slowly, kill bowlers....make easier for middle and late orders to prosper....my opinion...make 25 runs in 150 balls better than 20 balls ... classic test match...leave Bazball for England...

But Tage is no UB. He ain't even scoring as much as Gayle did with his bad technique. So you can't co.pare both. At least Gayle was scoring runs Tage is not

Not sure why allu keeps ignoring Solozano. He just scored another 70. Has one of the best techniques among our openers... Plus he has some FC experience. Very compact player is he..

Honestly, if an opening batsman is making his runs consistently, I do not mind if the strike rate is 40 instead of 50, 55. The problem is Tagenarine Chanderpaul is so out of form that he should not be in the test side until that form returns. For me, three batters who can open need to go to England in July. McKenzie is certainly an option and patently, Brathwaite will be one of them. That other place is up for grabs, lets hope that somebody, whether it be Solozano, Louis or whoever else, gets runs and grabs the chance.

Agreed.
A drop for Chanderpaul won’t be a the end of him, it is an opportunity for him to go back to the drawing board.

Powell’s age is not a factor, performance beats age and if he can give a 2 year run while we groom others.
