Jyd Goolie deserves a chance
He certainly deserves consideration for the A Team squad. Appears to be in a bit of the Kevlon Anderson/Kacey Carty mould as distinct from the Ambris/Wickham mould if we are looking at A team middle order batsmen. 3 more rounds to go. Let us see how he does. I hope that whatever caused him to retire today can be resolved before the next round
You'd at least expect a word on his behalf by all those posters who is bigging up all the other batsmen but not him, before this innings he was 7th in the batting so after this innings he may get a bit higher,he was not out too.

it is good to see him getting runs

Well at least 2 non Trinis have mentioned him including you,not very nice in my view, followers of the game should be more objective.

That's such a silly thing to say especially when Jyd was a part of the winning 2016 WC team and was never given a fair run by "The Big Tits"!!!
I believe this is his first full season for Trinidad so shame on them for never picking youth and always picking old farts!!!
Kudos to Goolie though hopefully he continues!!!

really? the only two threads about Goolie have been by myself and granite.........two trinis. whereas we've been inundated by ambris posts(who still cannot face the short ball)
Perhaps no one is feeding him short balls because Ambris is standing out as the best batsman of the tournament so far. Am grateful that Goolie is seizing his chance. The Tits' treatment of him has been bizarre. I remember a couple super 50s ago, he and Pooran put on a great partnership. Then the man was dropped, not to be seen again. Last year for Patriots, he was batting well with Rutherford, then Rutherford ordered him to retire so he could bring on an international. I was thinking that the boy needed a serious bush bath and like he got it as he seems to be able to be picked to play for the entire season but perhaps only because Michael decided not to play.

Yes, I would support his inclusion.

Absolutely.... Congratulations..many more to come......Jyd Goolie is another one....but unfortunately, T & T hasn't given him proper opportunities....
This lad is one of 2016 World Cup team unsung winner......in the mould of Larry Gomes....one for future..
I like how he looks and am not overly concerned by a strike rate of 40. If the runs are coming consistently, it matters not to me whether the batsman is taking 100 balls to reach 50 or 120 balls. Goolie has converted nicely, with a pair of centuries matching the two 50s he has at first class level thus far. His only failure this season was in the opening game against Guyana, when he only got to bat once and was dismissed cheaply. Since then, a century against the WI Academy and an unbeaten 90 against the Windwards have followed, along with a decent showing against the Leewards with scores of 30 & 64. With 315 runs so far, at an average of 52.5, he is among the batters at the top of the championship standings.
I see no reason why he, along with Kevin Wickham (313 runs at 62.6) should not be among the middle order batsmen who come into serious consideration for a place on the test squad to England. I know Ambris is making runs but he is dubious against the short stuff, something that at test level, is patently exploited. Leewards opener Mikyle Louis, Kevin Sinclair and Johnathan Carter are the only other batsmen to have passed the 300 run aggregate thus far, although Jeremy Solozano is very close too.

in terms of like for like Wickham is a bit ahead of him given he's scored runs for a longer period (though only 2-3 years), Anderson too
but with another 100 before the season is out, he will definitely be A team material...and who knows what else
it's up to him

agreed. One season does not a A team batsman make. Wickham and Anderson are currently before Goolie for the A Team, but of those two, only Anderson is possibly a No. 3 batsman
