Desmond Haynes is not knighted, he carries the Republic's order definition—the Honorable.
Sir Charlie was knighted some years before Barbados was a republic.

Hold on to your Knickers guys,
He was KNIGHTED before we became a Republic,
it is simply the unveiling of his statue as he was THE PARTNER to the Great WES HALL.

Wes and Charlie not only partner on the cricket field but are very close friends off the field, they have lunch together weekly.
I am looking forward to hearing Sir Wes speak of his good friend.
Sir Gary said on the unveiling of Wes's statue, he knew Wes was jealous seeing his statue alone at the mecca and had to have his.

Ok, my memory of Charlie Griffith ...
The first time I ever say a television. Ash Wednesday I think it was, and we had our annual Sunday School outing to Sav-la-mar. There, right in front of us on the tiny black and white screen were Griffith running in from one Sabina Park end and Wes Hall from the other, peppering Bill Lawry and Bobby Simpson with the good stuff. Wow, we were in heaven.

My best memory of him was being allowed to miss church and go to Pebbles Beach, the first ball that came my way, I wanted to show Charlie I could bowl, the ball hit the sand and moved into the ocean, I had the biggest smile, Charlie called me, and roll a ball toward the wicket, his ball also turn into the ocean, from that day I aimed to move the ball away .
Charlie spent every Sunday morning at Pebble Beach from 7-11, bowling for 4 hours.

Yes sir, share those memories too. The first test match to be televised live in JA; Ash Wednesday 1965. Mid-term began that Ash Wednesday, so could view first 4 days, back then Sunday was rest day, back to school Monday morning.
Good to see Sir Charlie being honored while he can still smell the roses.

Just asking ///was Nurse Knighted too ?
I know and you all know I am different but if I had that title, Prior to or not, I would discard it.
Not to do so is to wear a Crown
But i am am who I am .

First televised cricket series in Jamaica, don't remember seeing any of it, but my friend always tell me a story about him been sent to the post office and stop to watch the game; decided he would leave when a wicket fall, and Simpson and Lawry batted all day. That was the last time his mom spanked him!

Sir Hube I gwine 'diffuse' wid my own memory. '68 The Great Man having
been dropped on a King Pair the Sat afternoon proceeded to school men on how to
bat on a cracked up pitch. Getting to 113 n.o. he turned to Cowdrey at slip and
signaled the declaration. With Hall n Big Griff in his team he then took the new ball
and at the end of the over Pomland was 0-2. Boycott and Cowdrey back in the hut.
But I digress this is Big Griff's post. Softening them up The Great then turned
to Hall n Griffiths. Hall got Edrich but what struck me is that when Charlie Griffiths
got Barrington LBW the ball having it the pad then raced up his body and almost
clunked his chin! 1st test I ever saw, that was TV but my big brother had watched
The Friday's play live and never stopped talking about The Bajan pair running in.

My son asked me, How come you are not a good swimmer, I had to tell him I was a loner.
I spent many summer days alone at that beach.
None of my friends from Bibby's Lane went to the beach.
