Endorsed. Yohan is spent. It is unfortunate but it is what it is. He will struggle to make the relay pool. What I really want to see is Kishane Thompson running. See if that run last year was a fluke or if he is the real deal.

Been wondering myself. If Yard for instance are 100m W defending Champs don't they get a bye? If a team at a future meet runs
faster time than some so-called qualified team then what gives? I'm lost.

A very weird new system! And especially when the relays are so early in the outdoor system and long before many national trials.
Many athletes from various countries main objective in an Olympic year is to be ready for and able to qualify for their team's indiviual
and relay events. Missing one dege-dege relay event/championship where their 2nd tier team fails to qualify shouldn't have such an impact
as non-qualification.

It is a harsh selection process. It seems the bye is now only applicable to the World Champs, and not the Olympics.

1) Qualifier One, eight races, top two qualify for the Olympics (and the World Relays finals) = 8 Olympic qualifiers
2) Qualifier Two, six races, top two qualify for the Olympics = 6 Olympic qualifiers
3) In addition to the 14 qualifying from the World Relays, two further relay teams will qualify for the Olympics, based upon world rankings

Qualifier Two events

Mixed 4x400m relay

Heat One
1) Bahamas 3:12.81 (Gardiner-Addersley-Russell-Miller Uibo) qualify for the Olympics
2) Jamaica 3:14.49 (Barnes-Anderson-Clarke-Russell) qualify for the Olympics
3) South Africa 3:15.96
4) Japan 3:16.02
5) Guyana 3:17.65

Women's sprint relay

Heat Two
1) Jamaica 42.74 (Williams-Clayton-Burchell-Reid) qualify for the Olympics
2) Trinidad 43.54 qualify for the Olympics

Heat Three
1) Nigeria 42.71

4) Bahamas 43.32

Men's 4x100m relay

Heat Three
1) South Africa 38.08

5) Bahamas 39.21
Trinidad DNF

Women's mile relay

Heat One
1) Jamaica 3:28.54 (McGregor-Young-Williams-Bromfield) qualify for the Olympics
2) India 3:29.35

Men's 4x400m relay

Heat One
1) USA 2:59.95

5) Bahamas 3:08.29

Heat Two
1) Spain 3:02.39

5) Jamaica 3:05.09 (McDonald-James King-Gaye-Wilson)
6) Barbados 3:06.54

cool Guyana 3:10.01

Heat Three
1) Brazil 3:01.86
2) Trinidad 3:02.39 (Guevara-Richards-Lara-McKay) qualify for the Olympics

So, Jamaica have qualified for four Olympic relays, but not the men's mile relay. They will now have to wait and see if they make it as one of just two selected on the basis of world rankings. Looks grim!

Men's sprint relay final
1) USA 37.40

7) Jamaica 38.68

The USA won four finals, with the men's mile relay won by Botswana.

in recent years about 10 of our 400m men have shown either promise or a magnificent flash in the pan performance only to fall by the wayside. I am hoping that will not be the case with Antonio Watson.
Imagine that Javon 'Donkey-Man' Francis was 19 when he took the baton 15 metres behind passed 4 men and held off an experienced Russian to cop silver. Last yr 5 Yardies went under 45 and none to be seen now. Where are good relay and back up relay men such as Edino Steele?
