Watson ran OK.
Blake's start was not good.Akeem.
In reply to RoyalDad
I get sadder and sadder every timevI see Yohan perform. Man says he's hunting gold in Paris. Will he make the team?
In reply to Brerzerk
Endorsed. Yohan is spent. It is unfortunate but it is what it is. He will struggle to make the relay pool. What I really want to see is Kishane Thompson running. See if that run last year was a fluke or if he is the real deal.
In reply to Brerzerk
Yohan is a figment of his previous self. His mindset may be there, but physically not anywhere he needs to be.Hard to see him making the team for Paris.Too many young guns to deal with.
In reply to rudebway
Armand duPlantis (Sweden) broke the men's pole vault record with 6.24!

World Relays in Bahamas:
Saturday and Sunday
Bahamas
Barbados
Guyana
Jamaica
Trinidad and Tobago
In reply to mikesiva
Congrats Bim 4x4 men. Though didn't qualify you ran a good race in a tough field. Re- My Yard every time I see Demish Gay in national colors "mi get bex"
In reply to mikesiva
What is going on here with qualification?
Only one team made it.
In reply to RoyalDad
Been wondering myself. If Yard for instance are 100m W defending Champs don't they get a bye? If a team at a future meet runs
faster time than some so-called qualified team then what gives? I'm lost.
In reply to RoyalDad and Brerzerk
I don't think the bye is a thing any more.
Saturday features Qualifier One of each event. Top two in Qualifier One advance to Sunday's final, and also automatically qualify for the Olympics.

A very weird new system! And especially when the relays are so early in the outdoor system and long before many national trials.
Many athletes from various countries main objective in an Olympic year is to be ready for and able to qualify for their team's indiviual
and relay events. Missing one dege-dege relay event/championship where their 2nd tier team fails to qualify shouldn't have such an impact
as non-qualification.
This can't be the only meet that qualifies a team?
In reply to camos
They say it is...apart from two places that will be alloted based on times in meets to come!!!
Yesterday not 1 Jamaican woman went under 51 in any split of the 4x4W
India's 4x4M at a stage where they can consistently compete with and beat Yard now. Early/ mid season 3:03
2nd chance and still come last! Demise %$#@ Gaye..
an di res' ah dem... Just for the sake of some real athletes hope a team finds a meet somewhere to run a time to clinch one of the 2 remaining spots
TNT!!!! WHAT a fighfimal leg
In reply to Brerzerk
It is a harsh selection process. It seems the bye is now only applicable to the World Champs, and not the Olympics.
1) Qualifier One, eight races, top two qualify for the Olympics (and the World Relays finals) = 8 Olympic qualifiers
2) Qualifier Two, six races, top two qualify for the Olympics = 6 Olympic qualifiers
3) In addition to the 14 qualifying from the World Relays, two further relay teams will qualify for the Olympics, based upon world rankings
Qualifier Two events
Mixed 4x400m relay
Heat One
1) Bahamas 3:12.81 (Gardiner-Addersley-Russell-Miller Uibo) qualify for the Olympics
2) Jamaica 3:14.49 (Barnes-Anderson-Clarke-Russell) qualify for the Olympics
3) South Africa 3:15.96
4) Japan 3:16.02
5) Guyana 3:17.65
Women's sprint relay
Heat Two
1) Jamaica 42.74 (Williams-Clayton-Burchell-Reid) qualify for the Olympics
2) Trinidad 43.54 qualify for the Olympics
Heat Three
1) Nigeria 42.71
4) Bahamas 43.32
Men's 4x100m relay
Heat Three
1) South Africa 38.08
5) Bahamas 39.21
Trinidad DNF
Women's mile relay
Heat One
1) Jamaica 3:28.54 (McGregor-Young-Williams-Bromfield) qualify for the Olympics
2) India 3:29.35
Men's 4x400m relay
Heat One
1) USA 2:59.95
5) Bahamas 3:08.29
Heat Two
1) Spain 3:02.39
5) Jamaica 3:05.09 (McDonald-James King-Gaye-Wilson)
6) Barbados 3:06.54
Guyana 3:10.01
Heat Three
1) Brazil 3:01.86
2) Trinidad 3:02.39 (Guevara-Richards-Lara-McKay) qualify for the Olympics
So, Jamaica have qualified for four Olympic relays, but not the men's mile relay. They will now have to wait and see if they make it as one of just two selected on the basis of world rankings. Looks grim!
Men's sprint relay final
1) USA 37.40
7) Jamaica 38.68
The USA won four finals, with the men's mile relay won by Botswana.
In reply to mikesiva
in recent years about 10 of our 400m men have shown either promise or a magnificent flash in the pan performance only to fall by the wayside. I am hoping that will not be the case with Antonio Watson.
Imagine that Javon 'Donkey-Man' Francis was 19 when he took the baton 15 metres behind passed 4 men and held off an experienced Russian to cop silver. Last yr 5 Yardies went under 45 and none to be seen now. Where are good relay and back up relay men such as Edino Steele?
In reply to mikesiva
Mike - no! They cannot "wait and see"; there are two teams (France(?) and Zambia) ahead of them for the two remaining men 4x400 spot. Jamaica will now have to find a meet between today and June 30th and run 2:59.12 to get in. Beyond that, it will mark the first time since we entered the Olympic Games in 1948 that Jamaica has failed to send a 4x400 team to the Olympic Games. Of course, there was that Federation team which included 3 Jamaicans and one Barbadian (Wedderburn).
Yes, the athletes/coaches decide if they want to compete at the World Relays or not, but this is very poor planning on the part of Garth Gayle and the JAAA. What an impending travesty!
In reply to JoeGrine
Absolutely right! It's really sad to see how our male quarter milers have declined, given that heritage.
Doha Diamond League on Friday:
Men's long jump - Tajay Gayle, Carey McLeod (Jca), Laquan Nairn (Bah)
Men's 400m - Steven Gardiner (Bah)
Women's 800m - Natoya Goule-Toppin (Jca)
Men's 200m - Andrew Hudson (Jca)
Men's javelin - Anderson Peters (Gren)
Women's 100m - Natasha Morrison (Jca)
And more
In reply to mikesiva
Really bad state for our quarter milers indeed.
Our most promising Bloomfield,Allen and Taylor now nonexistent.
Two years ago we seem to have had a promising set of 400 males?
In reply to RoyalDad
Nathan Allen. Wow. I forgot about him. He went off the radar in a hurry. So now it’s Antonio Watson and three others. I cringe when I see Demish Gaye and Rusheen McDonald. I don’t care if he is the national record holder
In reply to RoyalDad
Really bad state for our quarter milers indeed.
You are sure about that? Maybe like the JAAA you should look around (especially beyond the locals) there are quality athletes around. JAAA have its head in the sand and if it's not MVP or Racers or to a lesser extent GC Foster, the JAAA doesn't look beyond them. If you didn't excel at Champs, they won't pay you much attention. You gats to be local.
In reply to JoeGrine
McDonald's record was a fluke (semis), in the final after did he even run anything close? No!
By the way you'all notice Janeek Brown really getting back to top ability and form?
In reply to JoeGrine
Joe,I am as sure as ABC. Apart from Watson and Bailey..maybe Powell,Jamaica's drought in the 400 is abysmal. The kid who went to Camperdown is not a 400 runner per say. He is a flat-out hurdler.
No return here of a Danny Mc.even though disciplines are reversed. But like you say, I will scour the American countryside to find those non locals to try and put a 4-man roster together.
In reply to JoeGrine
But if the 400 runners were good and not local, and could qualify to run for Jamaica, you would think the athlete themselves would put their hand up, and show up at Trials, since the USA 400 team is hard to qualify for. Similar to Andrew Hudson running the 200. He is not beating Lyles, Knightinton or Kenny Bednarek. But he can beat Rasheed Dwyer and Nigel Ellis.
Or are you looking at it more from a developmental and investment aspect?
Gentlemen, I will excuse myself here. I prefer to talk about high school track and field.
What is happening is a travesty that lays at the feet of the JAAA.
The lack of 400m male runners has been on the radar for years.
There is absolutely no longevity among the promising as they fall away all too soon
like the rising and setting of the sun.
More proactive outreach and priority should have been generated by the JAAA by working hard with the coaches
and clubs to ensure improvement by providing whatever resources necessary to
keep the country's record spotless in the 4x400 .
No darn excuses from anyone.
Track and Field musty not be allowed to go the way of the country's cricket.
No Sir..The 4x400m is the Bedrock of our T&F tradition and history.
It must not be tarnished. NO

Revelation here is Krystal. She looked very energetic in lane 1.No Talou, she wins.
Kemba bouncing back nicely.
Alana....more hard work to put in.That 10.92 long gone.
Brianna..more hard work ahead. What a turn of events for this young lady.
Talou was the story though. Nuff respect.
Forte..nice win even at 30 yrs.
Danielle was right there.
Our 400 women have a bright spot in Nickesha Pryce.Dropped a 49.32 to win SEC final.
On to the next meet.
In reply to RoyalDad
I just hope they let Brianna rest up for as long as she needs it. Her chronic hammie needs rest and the rigors of the college circuit is too brutal for her to weather. Hope she can make it to the JA Trials. Nickesha is doing very well. I love her hard work and execution in the 400.
know season early but Antonio Watson looked really off the boil. Demish has less core than any avg athlete in any sport. Wonder if that was why the Cameraman zoomed in on his stomach. The guys have the talent but make us wonder if they're putting in the work. Gonzalez was good until injury, do guys think it is worth going over to Glen Mills? None of the 1/4 milers trained by 1/4milers Cameron and and the other guy seem to string together a series of good races in a season.

Yes,Brianna and that hammy looks suspect. The coach though seems to be playing it safe with her. Should not have run in the 200.
Miss Pryce is the real deal. Ja. finally have a solid 400 runner again who can make Bol and Mauriely from the DR take notice. Just need to get Charokee and Stacey back in form.
In reply to RoyalDad
Yes, Ms. Pryce has been a breath of fresh air. I'm disappointed in the recent performances from Stacey Ann especially. The 400m is stacked with talent though. From Britton to Bol to Paulino and don't forget Syd. This year is gonna be fun.
In reply to DukeStreet
This iteration of Women's 400M is as exciting and has potential to be more so than the era of Christine Ohuruogo, Sanya Richards and Amantle Munsho. Don't forget that Shaunie is out there!
In reply to DukeStreet
Both Stacey and Charokee were burning up the track in college.
What the heck happened?? Especially Charokee!!
Any info on Candace?
Angela Williams has been a disappointment so far.

Thompson-Herah will open her season vs. Shacarri in the 100m.
I'm interested to see how she goes...how much rust/injury recovery
She joined Shelly's camp and Shelly is yet to open her season.
Hoping both will be able to peak or get near to that come Olympics

Prefontaine on guys n girls
Nice run young Clark, little more experience and you can be in the mix, espin yrs to come

Just tuning in to the PRE...Parchment coming up for the 110 hurdles. Williams out of frame in
the woem,n's 100H. But 12.65 against a winning 12.52 is ok for now
Doubt ETH is ready for a Big race this soon in her season...But hope she does well and most important
remain injury free.
Holloway takes it in 13.03....Hansie was slow out of blocks but finished 4th in a blanket photo
Time corrected
Parchment 4th 110mh but the way he recovered ground from pretty much last suggests he could still get to full Olympic readiness come July
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes., Yes.
In reply to hubert
Agree with you on ETH too
Hoping whatever going on with our vets and young males can be fixed even if only somewhat by July
An Olympics where nary a Jamaican man will get by the 200m 1st round!
In reply to Brerzerk
Very very concerned...hope we not fixing to take Track and Field with the cricket road map.
I am very concerned. Am not prepared to rely on SAFP either at this stage on the women's side of things.
She has achieved so much glory it would not be right to expect much more from her..
With the uncertainty of ETH recapturing her old form, that leaves Jackson as the only nona fide
reliant athlete to score an individual Gold at Paris on the track.
Things are not looking good. We do not seem ready to continue the legacy in a big way in two months time.
Hope I am Wrong.

ETH has a l o n g way to go as I expected...Lots of work AHEAD..does she have the will ?
In reply to hubert
Sometimes the heart willing but the body struggles. For ETH she’s proven the other way around is achievable
Sha'Carri beat Elaine into the ground, last place actually.
Sha'Carri Richardson wins Pre Classic in her first 100m of Olympic season
Richardson prevailed in 10.83 seconds in Eugene, Oregon, beating a field that included the fourth- and fifth-place finishers from last August's world championships. Plus two-time reigning Olympic gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica, who was last in 11.30.
Elaine's late season start may be of some concern. Could have been instructed to go with the motions.
Lets see where she progresses from here.
Shaq obviously was using earlier races to target this one. Good win.

In reply to mikesiva
Elaine running in NY this weekend.Hope she gives us some optimism/ hope.
In reply to RoyalDad
That's where Bolt broke Asafa's record? if so hope we get good news from the same place and meet again
In reply to RoyalDad
Looking at the entry list, it is a solid “B” field. I think this is a perfect gauge for her. I am an Elaine fan but I am worried.
For you diehard track fans, try to catch Nickisha Pryce (400m) and Brianna Lyston (100/200m) running tonight in Oregon at the NCAA Outdoor Championship. catch it on ESPN2
In reply to DukeStreet
Thank you. Tuned in just in time to see Brianna drop a 10.99 in her heat. I know the collegiate season is tough. But she is looking nice for trials.
In reply to rudebway
yw, bro. I hope so. I saw her grimace again after that race. Not sure if it's her hammie acting up or maybe something got in her eye. She still has to run in the 200 later tonight. Praying for her.
In reply to DukeStreet
Pryce just dipped under 50 looking easy. Brianna is brittle. The 200 is later as you said. Hoping for the best. You nailed it.
On another matter, I weep for Kevona Davis. I hope she can get it together.
In reply to rudebway
Yes, Pryce looking really good. She should win it all. Kevona just fell apart this season. looked totally out of shape. A damn shame.

Pryce has kept Jamaica in the womens 400 conversation after Stacey Ann,Charokee and Candace all failed to move to the next level. Stacey Ann though has shown glimpses of her college form and may yet come through.Charokee..just dont know what happened. Candace ...fell off the track it seems. In Pryce we trust.
Brianna has blossomed into the top notch runner we all saw from Champs days. Very legit runner to take over when Shelly moves on. Honorable mention to Sloley.
who notice seh Kemba like our elite short sprints women is nowhere to be 'found?'
This is one weird Olympic prep year for Yard so far.I had high hopes for Antonio Watson
keeping Yard's 400m creds alive. I think his last run was about 47sumting.
In reply to rudebway
Elaine needs to give us hope this Sunday. All I can say.Just dip below 11 and we can breathe a sigh of relief. Optimistic???!!
In reply to Brerzerk
Kemba ...dont know what happened here. She just fell off the chart. Her Oregon days long past.Haven't given up on her though. Time will tell.
Antonio has regressed. Keep fingers crossed. Wow!!!
In reply to RoyalDad
Briana just finished 2nd. 10.89. 2.2 wind. Looking solid. Great to see her stepping into the role of heir apparent. more and more that 10.92 from Alana Reid is looking like a fluke
Nickisha Pryce wins the 400 in 48.89 !!
In reply to rudebway
Indeed Briana is the real deal.Just stay healthy. 2.2 just a tad over the allowable. Alana may need more time. Likewise the Clayton sisters. None of them have gone below 11 seconds since.
Pryce is genuine article. What a run today. That young lady from the DR needs to watch her back.
Powell also did well in the 400. Thought he could have won the race.Big improvement still.
In reply to RoyalDad
Elaine Thompson Herah had to be carried off the track after suffering an apparent Achilles injury and is now a serious doubt to be fit for the 2024 Olympics….she finished the women’s 100m event last in 11.48. What a massive blow for her and Jamaica….
In reply to FanAttick
she looked completely flat. no lift. She was trying to push through it.
In reply to FanAttick
Just saw it as I left the cricket for a while. Looks bad for ETH..lower part of leg, maybe ankle area.
She is not in running condition at all since the season.
I really don't see her even turning up for trials much less make the Olympic team.
Sad ,real sad optics too. Hope I am wrong .
Wish her well.
In reply to hubert
Olympic gold medal sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah injured
Thompson-Herah burst out of the blocks at Icahn Stadium and was in the mix before starting to fade midway through the 100-meter race. The 31-year-old sprinter began limping near the finish line. She took off her right spike and later was carried away from the area around the track.
Looks like Elaine can't catch a break.
In reply to FanAttick
Have to agree. Massive blow.
In reply to RoyalDad
And Brianna Lyston is apparently ending her season. Good personal decision for her long term health. I see the prospects improving for Sashalee Forbes and Krystal Slowley
Elaine Thompson is also in a spot of bother a la Y Blake!
In reply to hubert
The long college season have always burn out the most promising of the jamaican athletes.
For the coaches, it is all about the ranking of their school -as well as it should be-.
So many promising athletes have regressed after committing to a U.S college.
As for ETH its all smoke and mirrors. Puma and Dior pressure to compete
am i a skeptic?.. pre race niggle maybe. knowing it could exacerbate, a way to create a public facade
A dior, Puma or just Jamaican genal-ship
In reply to jahmekyah
ETH only running 100m at National Champs
Guys, feel free to post any news on Caribbean national champs on this thread....
In reply to mikesiva
That says a lot. I don't think she will make Paris Games as an athlete.
Hope I am wrong.

Hope so too but seems she may struggle for 5th at trials. Fingers crossed

womens 100m heats... Sherika 10.98 i think it was. Shelly 10.99 shutting it down. I am going to have to learn that age does not apply to Shelly.
Oblique Seville is ready..
disappointments: Alania Reid. that Champs 10.94 is far removed. No Kevona Davis ....Antonio Watson stopped running in the mens 400m semi. Yohann Blake is done. thank you for your meritorious service.
In reply to Brerzerk
Kishane Thompson just ran 9.82 in the heats. oh my.
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town.
Keshane Thompson is a monster and to boot a Frano a guide him, people dead!!!
In reply to rudebway
Alana Reid has regressed badly. Dont know what to make of her.
Kevona Davis must be dejected after all these years knowing that Alfred has surpassed her.
Kishane on fire.
In reply to RoyalDad
Honest discussion, is the great Glen Mills missing something in 400m coaching? He brought Gonzales to the top but the injuries lost him to us.
Was it a blessing that Bolt ran from the 400m workload? On the other hand Van Niekerk's coach said his tips helped them to the WR
What a blow re Antonio Watson. Sad goodbye to Yohan, go make some Bollywood money now.
In reply to Brerzerk
Agree.
In reply to RoyalDad
To be fair, Kevona looked way out of shape this year running her senior year. She needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out what to do.
In reply to DukeStreet
to you and royal dad
agree, Kevona looked heavy. But what i keep wondering is why/how has she not fixed her drive phase? Alfred was her beating stick at champs and as Royal Dad pointed out, Alfred has surpassed her. And Alfred consistently does 10.8 to
10.85. Now that she is done with college I think Kevona needs to return to Jamaica and get in a good camp.
Tia Clayton didnt look bad last night. Serena Cole needs to lose the weight. Brianna Willians still lacks speed endurance. She reminds me of Christiania Williams.
I really liked how Ryiem Forde looked last night.
In reply to rudebway
We could have a good 4x1 men's yunnuh. One not just good enough to surprise and medal but one that could put on presha enough to buss pipe.
Two problems, inexperience and an incompetent JAAA will not organize enough baton change practice. If they can maintain current form and pass anything close to The Carter/Frater/Bolt/Asafa quartet
The Canada's/USA's Japan, Italy et al could fumble
In reply to Brerzerk
Tia Clayton just dropped a 10.86 !!!
In reply to rudebway
Indeed, Kevona and Cole both need to lose weight. I think Kevona may be more psychologically damaged because of Alfred's progression way over her and her nagging weight control issue.
Apart from young Lyston, our young talent has not shown that they are heir apparent anytime soon.
In reply to rudebway
I'm feeling good, woulda been crushed if our 4x1 women couldn't at least give dem a run.
That Mitchell will have 3 of his charges on the US relay squad made it even moreso for me.
Almighty, a monster is unleashed, he can surely be fine tuned, Frano is not of this world, Is Tina the new Shelly ? She will have to wait, action Jackson is going to kill people in Paris, she no peak yet.
Message delivered, folks up north are put on notice.
9.73 Kishane!!!! that is just outside what used to be Asafa's 9.72 WR
In reply to bedydread
Thompson, who is coached by Stephen Francis at MVP Track and Field Club, sped to a world-leading time of 9.77 seconds to win the blue riband event.
The 22-year-old, who was running his 10th 100m race of his senior career, had clocked a personal best time of 9.84 in the semi-finals a few hours earlier. Oblique Seville of Racers Track Club finished second in a personal best-equalling time of 9.82. Ackeem Blake from Dynamic Track Club was third in 9.92.
Shericka Jackson of MVP successfully defended her national 100m title as she clocked a season’s best time of 10.84 to win the event. Her training partner Tia Clayton was second in 10.90 while the iconic Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce took third in 10.94.

In reply to Brerzerk
Yeah, we have some great young talents coming though. Francis and the MVP camp doing a good job.
So heartening to.see Yard helping other Caribbean nations to have their athletes qualify @ our meets.
Evevennicer to see Baje Sada back in form and in tip-top shape doing 49+
In reply to nitro
Franno is extra Special as a coach ;top shelf too as a person who gets the best and respect from
his athletes. This young man Thompson is a revelation ,all due to Franno's expertise that
is able to deal with adversity, injuries, challenges etc in an artful manner.
Not many are so adept.
Sports is a helluva thing. Who watched The Yard 100mH? 2yrs ago young Brittany Anderson set a blazing NR behind Amusan's WR
Since then she's been plagued by injuries and didn't qualify. Now there's a new NR holder. But also very interesting, Shacarri's ex has qualified. As I said then dem BADWUD was embarrassment for being outed. I admire her bravery for singing a Yardie_MVP sankey and finding her way home
Glad our people embraced her for what she is i.e. a damned good athlete willing to work hard and reply her nation.

Shericka wins women's 200m
Levell wins men's 200m
Nugent wins 100m hurdles
Bad news for the men's mile relay
In one of the closest finishes ever witnessed by Jamaican fans, Rasheed Broadbell was declared the winner with a time of 13.18 seconds, identical to Orlando Bennett, who finished in second place. Defending Olympic champion Hansle Parchment was narrowly edged out, finishing third in 13.19 seconds.
110m hurdles final
In reply to mikesiva
Thanks. Lots to be pleased about. Congrats to all who make the team and to Nugent on the National record.
The Men's 4x400 remains a huge disappointment and a lot of rethinking and action must be forthcoming to
avoid another such monumental error by all.,admin, coaches and athletes.
In reply to Brerzerk
She will be in Paris. Old fire stick easy fe ketch. On a serious note, i told my brethren before the final she was gonna grab 3rd. Happy for her in her comeback.
Bryan Levell really showed up. 19.97. Whatever Shanekie Osbourne is doing is working.
The 4x4 was an organizational debacle. Not even sure who ran on our Gold team 4x400 with all the withdrawals of Bailey, James King and Powell. the anchor just ran out of steam.

Poland's (Selesia's) Diamond League was really good lots of crazy meet records.
Ingerbritsen is a beast on his day. What a formidable Women's 100mH cohort
Jamaica could have with fit young Brittany Anderson and Akera Nugent! Hope
both can make it to Worlds.
In reply to mikesiva
Young Clayton shows she is the real deal.
Sada being consistent.
Blake may need more strength conditioning. Was right there.
Good showing overall by all.

Year close out good for many Caribbean athletes.
Looking forward to next year.Should be fireworks women/ men 100/200. So much more talent other than Kishane,Blake and Oblique..from a Jamaica standpoint.
Women 400 looking mouthwatering also with Pryce/Paulino.Maybe Ms Shaunae Bahamas can rebound.
Men's and women's 100H pretty solid also. Macho Quinn one to beat with Nugent on her tail.Dont discount Anderson..if she regains form.
Roshawn did well.Still very green>Needs a coach to work out his shortcomings.
Field athletes may have their best year yet.
