Only pure badmind will stop Mikyle Louis
A tour. He has had a great season but does this justify a test call??
In reply to PalsofMine
I think if Chanderpaul fails again in the last round of matches, he may well be under serious pressure for his slot opening with Captain Braffit.
Louis will surely be in the conversation. The area outside off stump is a concern with him but anything straight and he looks solid. Plus, he hits that ball hard...which is a good thing when the other opener is poking it around all day
In reply to 4REALQUICKS
He is definitely in the conversation.
Tough squad to make at this time though.
Let's debate after the last round.
In reply to cricketfreak
Hey Bro I disagree. Let him get a couple A team tours. Jewel Andrew too. His time will come.
In reply to voiceofreason Boi, I like likkle AJ. Actually, all of those fellas from the recent WIU19.

How come the bigger island guys can jump from net practice straight in to west indies senior team ? What happened small island will continue to think small just because they are the smaller islands ? That's really low minded and bad . Sometimes you all keep yourself down and blame others , VOR am really disappointed in hearing that from you please don't let them brainwashed you ok .
Am also calling out browskin girl on this topic here to .
In reply to cricketfreak
This is his first year performing for the Leewards, an A team opening position is what this youngster earned at this time.
In reply to cricketfreakHey Bro reason with me a little bit. England is a very tough tour for any batsman, worse yet an opening batsman who would have played only 7 FC matches by that time. We have a young opening batsman who has scored 549 runs, 45.75 ave in only 6 matches and we don't want to mess that up by destroying his confidence. Let him play some more FC cricket at A Team level then get ready for the South African series. What is the rush here?
Why are you not pushing for his Brother Jerimiah who is the leading pacer this season and whose bowling skillset is ideal for English conditions. He also plays league cricket there in England so is familiar with those conditions and he has played. Good allround skill too as he is good with bat and in the field.
Allyuh carryin on like if Louis is a Baje or something.
Dat does only happen with them
Bet yuh wickham make de squad. He doh have any more time than Louis but same people that insisting Louis need to wait and play A team cricket, advocating for wickham to tour
In reply to imusic
You like gossip, who are the bajan that said that K Wick should tour England.
I can understand why people say, so and so is too young...needs more experience etc...do not expose him too early...but...what if his form dips next season..? You would then discard him. He would think, well I made runs and they ignored me...what more can I do? No, better take the iron while it is hot and give him a chance.
And this England tour will be played later, with the first test not starting until mid-July. The wickets are harder and the weather is much better by then. Long gone are the chilly conditions of April and May. These factors should certainly help the West Indies test team later this year.
In reply to tc1
Not just gossip..very selective in his target
In reply to tc1
When I looked at the performances of Holder and Chase in the few regional matches played, it shows their experience, it is dumb to continue to go after Barbados cricketers.
I have come to believe that cricket is to Barbadians as T&F to Jamaicans, the BCA just has to get modern structures in place, to develop top International cricketers.
In reply to Baje
Mention any thing about a bajan and the musicman gone crazy.
In reply to openning
Bim seems to have a good youth program which will serve them well in the future.
It's nice to see excitement for the FC competition not just the CPL
Louis will get a few A team games for sure, England is rough and probably not the best place to blood new talent
But eyes are on him and the test captain got a good look at him in the last game
Exciting times
In reply to voiceofreason
Well tell me what is the reason of the regional tournament and preforming well ? Well if you think certain countries are hard to play in well don't do well and you will not be selected then . I thought you perform to do well to get a call up to play for west indies no matter against which team and no matter where in the world so VOR am sorry but i for one don't buy what you are selling .
In reply to cricketfreak
The primary objective of the regional tournament is to identify talent based on their performances. Once identified that talent would be selected to represent West Indies Senior, West Indies A teams and some may attend the academy. Don't rush Mikyle Bro this kid is special. Those innings vs Barbados were contrasting as in 1st innings was a gritty, attritional one where he fought his way back into form and then the 2nd innings he capitalised, and batted with more aggression. This youth is developing well, don't want to rush and spoil him.
In reply to voiceofreason
Is this the last year for Powell and Hamilton?
In reply to openning
Name your squad to England please
In reply to openning
No. We still need their experience.
If mykyle louis scores heavilly in the next round you cant leave him out the conversation especially since the current incumbent and the other openers have done less to advance their cause
In reply to voiceofreason
I agree with this but still we bowl so much spin that the 10 or so overs our top order batsmen face of fast bowling isn't really preparing him or the others for the sustained attacks at the Test level.
Like sending lambs to the slaughter.
In reply to velo
Please wake up VOR
In the last game the commentators mentioned that M Louis is suspect to balls on and outside off-stump, hopefully that is corrected soon as he will be eaten up by international seam bowler real fast. However, Louis has the right temperament to be a solid international player.
In reply to openning
I would say yes , both are just keeping out the younger promising guys . There sell by time gone this year should really be there last .
I have said before that Mikyle should move up to the A Team for sure. That is his reward for a good season. If he thinks that he deserves more, then he should ensure that he shines for the A team. Because Roach refuses to retire and AlJo seems undroppable no matter how much tata he bowls and that he has only one fifer in test cricket after 7 years, Jeremiah Louis may well miss out if Seales is considered as next in line after Roach, Holder, Joseph and Joseph. I doubt that we will take more than 5 seamers on the tour Jeremiah as well may have to settle for an A Team spot, partnering Phillip and possibly John, making the Holy Triumvirate of fast bowling with Springer as fourth seamer/allrounder and Josh Bishop and possibly Salmon. These actually form a pretty decent bowling line up based on their FC performances and hopefully will be competitive against SA.

Don't worry every cricketer has a weak point so Don't go down the road to try disqualify the guy from been selected o the west indies team .
The present openers for west indies full of all kind of fault and they are still been selected right ?
Should be selected for A tours..... perform....then only.... still long way.....
In reply to cricketfreak
A century here ... would make an extremely strong case.
Well he got his century. He looks good as well.
He just booked his ticket to Hingland.
Steups.
Hundred and out next ball.
I missed it typing.
Congrats Mikyle Louis on a 3rd Ton for the season. That is pretty rare
feat nowadays in Regional cricket.
You have addressed the WI selectors. Lets see if those venerable men know your address and
destination, England.
Selection to England should start with MIKYLE LOUIS and then the others .
VOR you still want to come on and talk your nonsense ?
VOR i know you mean well but you talking nonsense to my ears .
In reply to Yadi
He answered your call .
In reply to TanteMerle
I will say he has just taken a first class seat on the plane to England waiting for the rest of the west indies team mates to board the plane .
In reply to cricketfreak
yes.
Good ton dat
Simply MUST be in the squad and quite possibly make his debut at Lords in July.
Well done Mikyle Louis, here is to MANY more centuries to come...including plenty in the West Indies test team, I hope!
In reply to cricketfreak Ok Bro I agree with you Mikyle Louis for England! I mean the Man just bruck down the door! Impressed with his temperament, good technique and he is a stroke player. In 13 innings he now has 649 runs at an average of 49.92 and I cannot recall another opening batsman with those kind of figures for a long time.
In reply to voiceofreason
Devon Smith. Nuff said

Lol Tage wasn’t that bad in 2022!!!
Obviously he sucks now lol but as much as Louis deserves a call up a couple A team tours would be much better for his development!!!
Every other country bring seasoned cricketers into their International Team WI on the other hand get excited every time a school boy makes runs
he has earned a tour ticket
In reply to PalsofMine
Devon true that shows how rare it is.
Stuart Williams who btw is the Leewards' head coach.
In reply to WIfan26
Fix your link.
He should be in the squad to England. Nothing says that he can't bat at #3. In the current squad it will be just like opening the batting
I watched a lot of his innings yesterday.
I now say that he should be in the squad.
I picked a squad a few days ago and he is now in my updated squad.
I had him as a reserve, but I'm updating him to sure pick.
3 100s and an 80+ i think
that is quite a compelling case
he must travel
In reply to voiceofreason
Thank you VOR for coming back to your sense . VOR you realize how leewards and winwards cricketers have to do twice as much as the other plays from other islands, tell if any plays from the leewards or windwards islands ever get pull from just net practice and drafted in to the west indies team ?
Very well done to Mikyle for the season. Commentators on this board should remember, however, how Jordan Johnson was also touted for the test squad after a great tour of Sri Lanka. His name is not even mentioned now, less than 9 months later. I say let Mikyle make his way up the ranks.
