If I were coaching a youngster to bat I would have him watch hours upon hours of Hayley batting… I do not see a male in our squad whose technique is as solid. She makes batting look so easy even I think I could make tons of runs when I watch her bat.

Me ask the question the other day how we can get her into the men's side lol

Lol. Seriously though she’s that good. Very good bowler, excellent fielder and just a genius of a batsman. We need her.

dominating 120k fast bowlers and 80k spinners is no comparison to batting 130+ fast bowlers and spinners who move between 80 and 100 ks at will

she might compete against a team full of Darren Sammys and Darren Stevens lol

She might need a double SM Rafter Abdo for the quicks ....

Maybe, but maybe not. I’m sure she’s batted against male fast bowling before. Regardless, a good technique is a good technique. Saying she can’t excel against quicker bowling is similar to saying a 16 year old Sachin excelling against under 19 bowlers won’t excel against the seniors. We saw how that went once he started playing against them. A prodigy is a prodigy and should never be under estimated. This girl is an absolute prodigy.
I would love to see her face off against some men, just to see what she’d look like.

I would sanction that idea. I’m sure she’d do better than some top order batsmen That we’ve sent out there. Like I said a great technique is a great technique… plus she obviously thinks the game to precision. I would bank on her

What I will say with no reservation is that she’s the best female cricketer I have ever seen.. ever. And I say cricketer not just batter.

1 - I’m not Bobby Fisher……although that was a decent enough comparison from a tennis playing standpoint…..King being a professional tennis player (Hayley Matthews being a professional cricketer) and Fisher being essentially a professional con man (played tennis in high school)

2 - I didn’t raise the issue. Chantilly insists that Matthews is better than many current WI batsmen. I’m skeptical but open to the possibility. Notice, I never said she can’t bat or doesn’t have great technique. She can definitely bat and possesses good technique.

But facing female professional bowlers versus male professional bowlers are 2 very different propositions.

If that’s the case, she should be easily able to handle facing the same bowlers current WI batsmen encounter.

3 - I stand by my assertion that John Campbell would be absolutely dominant batting against any female bowling attack.

Not sure what “guy” that makes me other than one that has an independent opinion.

This reminds me of the time in the 1990s when I saw the USA women's Olympic basketball team scrimmage against a group of guys who were playing pickup basketball in a gym. The guys were just too fast for the best female basketball players in the world. And we are not even talking about guys who played college basketball.

Technique looks better the slower the pace is.

Think about how good you look when taking practice shots.

I think we just need to appreciate without tearing down the men. She is a talented female cricketer and that is that.

Bobby Fisher was not a tennis player musicman, wrong sport.

We need to just stop it and let these ladies do their thing.

Matthews gets plenty opps to compete with and against the lads in local cricket. Phenomenal ladies batswoman, the end.

Before we had Pam Lavine and Deandra that played amongst the lads.

The lads have to do much better, but the comparisons are truly ridiculous and confirm that many of us do not really understand the game we watch.

It's amazing to read the nonsense posted here.
I recognize that the talk about Matthews playing in the men's team,
started as byplay and was humorous at first.
But I believe that some ot you may be smoking some cheap low grade weed.

Women are built different than men
and generally cannot compete in physical sports.

Lesson on point:-
A cocky and arrogant teen-aged Serena William,
stated that she could beat any professional tennis player rated over 200.
A man accepted the challenge and smoked her.
Her sister Venus, who was better at the time challenged him
and guess what, he smoked her as well.
Remember he was rated over 200 on the men's circuit.

Same thing happened with Jimmy Connors defeating Martina Navratilova
Actually the rules were changes to assist her, but the result was same.
She was allowed two serves, as in normal games,
while he was allowed only 1 (no faults allowed).

There are countless examples of men identifying as women in USA
and competing in women's sports breaking all records.
I believe that that is wrong, but then again I do not or will never support
the LBGTQ etc agendas, including BLM, which started as a LBG sect.

This is a very dumb statement!!

Haley is fantastic and one of the best in her league. Let her stay there and continue doing what she is doing.

Sometimes i wonder why everywhere in the world cricket is improving and evolving and we are going the opposite direction.
