As i looked at the jersey presentation yesterday and images and videos of the warm-up game last night. I've realised that WI T20 jersey has no corporate sponsor. Now I know that the T20 would have Dafabet at the back of the jerseys. And I don't know if Dafabet can sponsor the team maybe cause ICC may have another betting partner, so conflict of interest, or whatever the reason is.
But I was hoping that with an international tournament of this magnitude and with WI playing at home, plus even our recent successes in the world of T20 that the team would of been able to even secure a corporate sponsor and one would of been able to see it in the shirt sleeves.
But that doesn't seem to be the case.
Now will we see an article about sponsors before our first game on Sunday who knows? But I would of thought that by now the team (CWI) would of been able to garner some sponsorship.
Now I know it may not be high on the agenda, but these kinds of sponsorships can bring in much-needed monies that can further develop the game from grassroots up.

No Sponsor for our WC team
In reply to positiveg
That is crazy to me. And imagine if we are in the finals...

Exactly, you know how much revenue we will be losing
Imagine I see AFG has a game shirt sponsor and what seems to be a warm up shirt sponsor
I really don't know if we have a proper functioning marketing department at CWI but they missing a lot of points
I mean the way how the squad was announced and even the presentation of the jerseys was done really well. But things like this I don't know, something is just off about us not capitalising and maximising of this event on our dorrstop with this opportunity of sponsorship.

No.icc restrictions on sponsorship? Odd if they were indeed unable to secure something
Maybe CWI is difficult to deal with so no business wants that kinda headache ..
In reply to positiveg
Perhaps they have multiple sponsors and no title sponsor.
Thats not a bad thing
In reply to doosra
Most other teams have a title sponsor logo on the sleeve.
Example: Oz has HCLTech logo on their sleeve
So sponsorship display is allowed. Just not on the main “body” of the jersey.
But again……maybe CWI has multiple sponsors and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
In reply to imusic
yea it would indeed be odd given their recent t20 success
In reply to doosra
I know you can't be like say if the Title sponsor of the WC happened to be Cable and Wireless and WI was sponsored by Digicel then that would be the issue there.
But I know Dafabet was on eht back on the T20 jerseys this pass year or so and they not even on the arm of the shirts.
And like musicman says you see HCL on the Aussie jersey, Pepsi on the Paki jersey and so forth
Now if we have multiple sponsors I'm sure one would be willing to pay more to be on the jersey cause it's not like it's restricted from doing so. i just find it very strange. And I hope what Kay says ain't the case.

does ICC have a betting company sponsor or do they allow it for intl tournaments?
In reply to doosra
I gonna have to research that one
Cause I don't see them having a betting partner, but I'm not sure if they allow it
But let's ay they don't that would have been something CWI would have known for a long time and been able to look at other avenues.
I realise I don't see MasterCard as one of the official sponsors on the CWI website anymore so guess that contract too is up.
I think that the Oil-rich Guyanese should step-up.
Yes, now that they're the richest country in the region, it's certainly their responsibility to share like the Tits did during their reign.
Personally, I'd love to see the Demerara Rice (my favorite growing up) logo etched on the WI players' shirts.
Found this out
So I guess why we won't see Dafabet as our kit sponsor.
In reply to positiveg
yea i must have heard it somewhere not so long ago
though betting is a huge part of cricket now
i was listening to a pod the other day where the estimated over 1b exchanged in a single IPL or was it PSL game this year

All the major sports leagues in North America now allowing gambling advertising.
It’s a MASSIVE source of revenue to the point where gambling ads dominate broadcasts of these events.
Not only that, sports networks like ESPN, TSN etc have segments that tell you about the betting line on the teams in action and who is facoured and by how much etc

Once we make the elite eight the sponsors will come running -
Corporates like good return on their exposure investment and of late we haven’t been winning
CWI can always fallback on

BTW, I think because it’s an ICC Global Event, more than likely it’s a collection of sponsors and profits are shared amongst the teams!

yep
imagine 1.2 billion dollars turned over for a 3 hour game
wow

1bn you mean over the entire season u mean, cause one game? lawd man that's a lot
But I can see sports betting being big especially if you like gamble and can bet on almost ever facet of the game.
In reply to imusic
True and it just started recently int he US and in fact some states it's still not legal. I just see it becoming legal in NC and FL and they are milking it now.
And it's good for the teams I guess who can get sponsorship
Aint' the other day some basketball player who plays for Toronto was betting on a game he was playing in. Now you'll get these foolish people popping up every now and again.

a single game
let me look for the link
it was jarrod kimber on their cricket pod
In reply to doosra
That is crazy. Thata a lot of money you know
Same problem at regional level, instead of having their territory name on their shirt they could get sponsorship from businesses around the regions.
More needs to be done.
If we can’t find a sponsor for our T20 team in a global tournament, then we’re in serious trouble
In reply to WICFan
I agree. I don't know if the asking price does be too Hugh. Look even local cricket we can get a company to sponsor. So I just can't wrap my head why st a major tournament in we back yard we can't get a sponsor.
In reply to positiveg
Yeah, West Indies being the host nation in what is probably it's favoured format shouldn't be going into the tournament without a sponsor.
In regional cricket, finding a sponsor could add to players salaries, facilities, youth contracts etc.
In reply to WICFan
So much agree with you.
But yes I'm sure it too add to the players fees etc
