So here' their trickery, speaking from experience as I was in the stadium on Monday- a gift from one of my grand-daughter in NY.
When tickets was released months ago, they apparently did not sell the stands closest to the players- instead they sold the other stands and called it "premium."
The buyer had no idea these "premium" was actually the worse of the lot and the early buyers had no idea what seats they were getting nor did they have the option to pick their seats at the rime of purchase. I wasn't aware, infact no one was, like my grand daughter, she was proud to get me a "premium" for the sports I love.
Now, those stand they held back are now being packaged as "club" and "cabana" seats for thousands.
It is unethical as it is outrageous, and if they think paying fans will forgive and forget, they will be in for a rude awakening next time around.
The ICC is proving to be scam artist.

Disgusting, absolutely disgusting.
It seems that more & more things that are connected to the game, in the shortest of formats especially, are rotten to the core.
Greed ruins EVERYTHING.

The whole ticket procurement process is a well choreographed scam. I made comments to that effect a couple months ago.
Long story short, I bought tickets very early on and paid more than I wanted to for a game that was not my first choice. For the games I really wanted to attend the site was directing me to a package deal, this was the first or second day tickets became available.

And the full blame resides with the ICC.
American journalists are picking up the story for many reasons one of which is to see if the ICC violated any laws- recent legislation prohibit certain behaviors and what the ICC did was just nasty and better heads will tell if laws were broken.
It is very apparent no American person was hired to guide this process, from the non American English used in the tickets description to the bizarre directions in their app.
If they want to grow cricket to the first generation Asian Americans and other young Americans from all groups, this is not the way to do it.
I bought on the reputable resale sites (StubHub, seatgeek) and got what I thought were ok prices …outside of India/Pak of course.
For the other games…including the SA ones.. you could find tickets in the lower sections for around $120..including fees
I paid $120 for second tier seats for today’s game SA v NED because they claimed that the lower tier seats for “unavailable”.
I’m also convinced their intentions were to rip off the American public with their less than transparent process.
People.complainimg about capitalism ?
not capitalism because it is not a free market
In reply to Emir
you don't need to have it, do you?
In reply to Emir
What? Dude, this IS the definition of a free market.

Dis chap bad bai man ah cuss bout ticket prices and at the same time ah seh nobody nah show up in Guyana!!! Mek it mek sense lol

The whole point is that the ICC is playing in a country..still the richest in he world.. where people
can afford high prices.
After the India Pakistan game tomorrow, the ICC will be counting profits...unlike the poor struggling
countries in the Caribbean whose governments are stretched to sacrifice to subsidize the ICC
event with outlays that could better benefit its citizens in a more tangible ways.
Hoodwinked is not far off the mark.
Thanks God Jamaica did not embark on this again.
As I said long ago, Barbados is the only host that got a great deal with premium quite a few games, plus the Super 8
and the FINAL.
. Bim wins again.
For the pittance that the ICC gives to the WICB compared to the Big3, they should have taken care of all expenses
for this their Event and give the poor Regional governments a break .
But.........
I went to the game today. Got my tickets for $60 from Ticketmaster , excellent seat , had a great time

Except for India/Pak, not quite understanding the complaints about ticket prices. Or maybe some peeps just don’t know about places like Ticketmaster and similar sites.
Also, those complaining about high concession prices probably don’t go out a lot. A hot dog for $9 or some samosas for $10 are par for the course at any sporting or entertainment event around here.
F@#k the ICC. They rig international tournaments on behalf of the BCCI.
In reply to WIForever
Correct. BCCI have been experimenting with charging high prices during the past Indian tour games in Florida
Those games were sellouts so they now hammer the fans using the ICC.
In reply to googley
this is shameful stuff...
In reply to Da-Vincy
There should be no complaining about the prices. The complaint was about the process, the unethical ticketing policy and lack of transparency as I have noted in previous post.
Everything in NY cost....have you seen the cost of an apartment...lol
In reply to birdseye
If people willing to pay..then it is not crazy
In reply to googley
Yep I've seen it where I've seen the prices for the games in FL and been like nah. They charge based on what they know people will pay
In reply to Emir
If it exactly as you say, then this is outrageous - unethical. And coming from a world governing body at that.
Or this may be indicative of something else. The ICC has not been intricately involved in planning of the events in the US. The problem may well be with the management of the event.
Sad either way
In reply to InHindsight
I think it is from the management organization. They can charge whatever they want, and it’s up to the individual to buy or not. The process to obtain tickets is better now but early on it leaves a lot to be desired as I and other posters have pointed out.

Interesting article
In reply to googleyFascinating article, it captures the essence of the sport to the diehards, the free market taking full advantage of the captives. And it’s considered all legal, even if its robbery.
But the stands was "packed" Anf it go be packed vs USA too! Some people got plenty moolah to share wid ICC!
