There should be a fair amount of carnage this week as the greens are setup to be very very difficult.

Tiger is even par through 7 at this point.

Tiger +3 through 14.

Really hard to hold these greens.

He is not playing enough to make a significant comeback during these big tournaments. As the body gets better I hope he plays more often

Tiger +4 for today - tied for 74th. He drove it well today. But it was hard to hold these greens on approach shots.

Cantlay at -5 (65) and Aberg (66) at -4 are the best scores so far.

The USGA will not be happy with that 65 as they generally want par to the be the best score on day 1. Look for the greens to be even more diabolical tomorrow.

Rory takes back the wifey this week and chips in at 4 to be at -2.

Woods is good for a round or two but it’s hard for him to be competitive for 4 days. He has trouble walking for 4 straight days. You are walking about 7-10 miles per round. Plus, you just can’t play majors and expect to be competitive against guys who are playing well.

I hate to say this but unless his legs get better to the point where he can walk without discomfort for 4 rounds and play more frequently, he is done.

I don’t know if you guys are familiar with the Bethpage black course on Long Island but it’s a beast of a walk (you have to walk, no golf carts allowed). I used to play it a few times a year, many years ago. These days, I hardly play it, and when I do I get beat up physically and on the scorecard.

I agree. The majors are generally setup to be tough and grueling. And a man in his very late 40's with the type of injuries Tiger had will find it extremely difficult to manage. But since his back issues and surgery the talk has always been "does he have another major in him". And before his car crash the answer was mostly 'yes'. But watching him walk the course with a visible limp it's hard to fathom him winning another major. But golf fans want to see him compete at the majors nonetheless. They want to see one or two examples of the brilliance that made him arguably the G.O.A.T. He still pulls the biggest galleries at these tournaments.



Oh I know about Bethpage. I used to work with some guys who played it and they said there is a sign out in front that warns crappy golfers to stay home if their game isn't up to par (pun intended).

That warning sign probably made some guys want to give it a challenge even more. By the fourth hole, you will realize that sign is no joke.

I play with some guys with single digit handicaps, they get roughed up too.

Didn't work that well

Bryson played well and deserves to win. Rory played well too but you cannot miss a relatively easy putt on the 18th hole. Who knows what would’ve happen in a playoff but it was a good tournament with no clear winner until the 18th hole.

Yeah congrats to DeChambeau.

His short game was phenomenal. Rory was being Rory - missing short putts.

An 18 hole playoff would have been epic. It would have surely been billed as "PGA Tour vs. LIV".
