West Indies’ left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has become just the second player from his side to secure an ICC Men’s Player-of-the-Month award.

2024 is turning out to be a fairly rewarding year for West Indies players.

In January, young star Shamar Joseph won the ICC Men’s Player-of-the-Month award for his sensational performance that led to the unforgettable victory over Australia at the Gabba. Now, teammate Motie has secured the Player-of-the-Month award for May 2024.

He topped competition from Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi and Ireland’s Lorcan Tucker to win the award.

The West Indies’ left-arm spinner, who has continued to shine during the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, had a host of brilliant outings during May.

Congrats Motie!

Unlike some (you got to be kidding me to name names) you don't have a god father at CWI and you are always treated like a mushroom

Hasn't that been the case with every WI spinner in the last few decades?

You would have thought that by now we revert to better treatment to our spinners but it don't seems things have changed,as Narper say Motie is up and down like a yo yo,time to change that culture.

In recent past Motie has been given a fair deal by the WI.

I assume because of his non selection to tour England you make your claims, but another bright and upand coming young spinner is his compatriot Kevin Sinclair. With him too i suspect WI as struck gold.

To leave Motie out of the test squad immediately after all this white ball cricket will do him no harm

In this England tour I am hoping that to see a few young players do well.

Louis
McKenzie
Athanaze
Shamar
And Sinclair

That would resuscitate test cricket in the WI

Sinclair and Motie are in the red ball squad to England.
