The day after a West Indies win

The collective good vibes that permeates the region is almost tangible. i So i went to work on thursday and not a soul was in a bad mood. Almost everybody came to work with a bounce in their step. Most of the people there weren't born in the 80s(including myself) and conversely to those born in 1985 and prior, only know a west indies team that loses, embarrassingly so at times. Now i am not saying that a winning WI team solves the region's problems, like a strong US dollar, medium to low for ex reserves and the effects of climate change, but i can guarantee it does have distinct therapeutic and psychological benefits. The WiI golden era must have been something to love through

You went to work in the region? Or in Trini?

If in Trini……maybe not the same vibe in the rest of the region. Certainly not reflected on this message board

The only semblance of unity there is here is when it involve hatin on Trinis

I walked ten feet tall on Thursday and told every Brit cricket fan about it, at work.

It was an early 80s throwback. The crowd had a lot to do with that.

This is probably a little like how Dr Dukes dem felt when WI beat England and dem went work next day.

In 70s and 80s everything in the West Indies was Top Ranking Politics, Culture, Literature, Sports, Science, Medicine, Education, Music: Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Zouk, Salsa, Gospel etc etc and the West Indies Ruled Planet Earth: Unbeaten in Every Test Series and 2 almost 3 back to back to back ODI world cups.
We have been struggling to find form ever since across all these areas esp in cricket.
I believe however that as long as this group stays together for quality time West Windies best days lie just ahead.

i lived through the 80s and I remember traffic stopping when WI was winning a test match. Those were the days indeed but I think that Lb's point that in the immediate post colonia era, WI were just on the up in cricket as well as in other fields shows the relationship of cricket to our general social standing. We were not yet just puppets of another country's lifestyle. Our pride in our independence reflected itself in our culture, education and cricket. Cricket started falling away about the same time as the others did.
