South Africa vs Nepal - St Vincent [7.30 pm]

What to expect:
Only two men's T20Is were played at this ground before the tournament, and the pitches were relaid before Thursday's game between Bangladesh and the Netherlands. Thus the likely conditions remain mostly a mystery. But we know the floodlights are new, and therefore good. There's little chance of enough rain to get in the way of the cricket.

So it wasn't surprising that South Africa's men's T20 World Cup squad were supplied with potentially valuable information before they had even checked in to their accommodation in Kingstown. "When we arrived at 3am our bus driver told me that when the sea is rough there's bounce and pace, and when the sea is calm it spins," Rob Walter told a press conference on Wednesday. "Most importantly, I want us to be able to respond to the conditions in front of us and be able to figure out a method to win."

Sandeep Lamichhane stands in their way of doing so. Nepal's best player has yet to make it onto the field in the tournament because he was denied a United States visa and the team's first two matches were in Dallas and Lauderhill. Whether Lamichhane's conviction and subsequent acquittal for rape in Nepal was the reason for such a decision has not been disclosed by the US government. But there is little doubt that his return - he has not played an international since November - will be key to Nepal's chances.

Did you know?
- One of the straight boundaries at Arnos Vale is more than 10 metres shorter than the other.
- Only three bowlers took more wickets than Sandeep Lamichhane in ODIs last year.
- Anrich Nortje needs three wickets to surpass Dale Steyn as South Africa's leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cups.

I'm curious to see how picturesque the Arnos Vale surroundings will be at night...

Rohit Paudel:
We'll chase, there will be dew in the second innings. It will be easier for our bowlers to bowl first, batting should also be easier in the second innings. We got some good time for preperation. Got some time to setup our skills and train.
Aiden Markram:
We would've probably looked to bat first so not too unhappy with it. Opportunity for our batters to get some time out in the middle and get some confidence. There's too much pride in the squad, we've seen Nepal play some really good cricket so we look forward to that challenge. One change, Keshav Maharaj is going to miss out for Tabraiz Shamsi. He hasn't had much game time so this is the last opportunity to get him some game time before the Super 8s.

Pitch report:
"Gentle 12kph breeze across. 67m and 61m square boundaries, 76m down the ground. There is a bit of grass, it will assist both the seamers and spinners. 160 should be a good score, the South African quicks should really enjoy bowling on this" reckon Alan Wilkins and Dale Steyn

Karan KC down there and he gave all his teammates a good fright when he juggled it about three times before finally holding on. Regulation chance and he makes sure it doesn't go down this time.

13.4
Bhurtel to Miller, no run, review retained, floated up very full on middle-leg, Miller leant in looking to sweep but it dipped and snuck under the bat, it was the wrong-un so question was if it had pitched in line. No bat involved and ball-tracker shows it was indeed pitching in line but it was just clipping the bails on umpire's call! So that will remain not-out! How crucial will this be? Miller had already started walking back after seeing the initial replay

Tabraiz Shamsi | Player of the Match:
Definitely relieved, we came here with the goal of finishing this stage 4 out of 4. Little bit closer than we’d like but the team is standing up to the pressure and that’s nice to see. Anywhere we go in the Caribbean I assume there’s going to be turn. Our fast bowlers did a great job in New York but I think it’s going to be up to the slower bowlers here. They utilized conditions beautifully, I think the wicket did get a little better later on. We’ve been under pressure in every single game but we’ve stood up to it so that’s a great thing going into the business end of the tournament.

If so, more reason to give your second or 3rd spinner match practice on a spin friendly wicket.
