More Florida Woes India v Canada

Jamaica would certainly have been a better option

MATCH DELAYED BY A WET OUTFIELD

More rain coming to boot

Narper 2024-06-15 14:22:14

The live pictures show Kohli going around the ground; speaking to some Canadian players, the umpires and inspectiing the conditions along the way. India's think tank - Rohit Sharma, Rahuld Dravid, Vikram Rathour and Paras Mhambrey - are involved in a long chat.

No warm ups going on at the moment as the groundstaff are still working with big hair dryers to dry the damp patches.

Imagine if this happened in the Caribbean

Two important games abandoned so far in this ground mainly due to lack of drainage and ground covers. ICC should really take note these issues to prevent similar happenings in future tournaments."

All fi di almighty US dollar

The ICC can do much better. They should ensure that Grounds, especially in USA have proper drainage.
This one doesn't and apparently does not have adequate covers either for critical areas of the outfield.
Chasing the US dollar is one thing but it must also be invested in better facilities and infrastructure
not only in USA but universally if they really want to expand the game.
ICC got the money.
I hate to see 'no play' in situation such as this.confused

Three matches abandoned - well done ICC.

Let's blame it all on the Yard for not 'bidding' to participate.

Drainage and ground covers.
Dem ship wickets from Australia to New York but Lauderhill has no ground covers.
Dollars over sense thinking.

The ICC was told Florida was a big risk this time of the year but they ignored that advice.

No other venue in the history of all WC cricket has had so many total wash outs

What a waste

A financial mess - no match means refunds

ray 2024-06-15 15:46:23

Overall, despite FL mess...I think it has been a success.

hubert 2024-06-15 15:52:16

No one likes to issue refunds. But in ICC case they should issue double.
Florida like the Caribbean is vulnerable to severe weather even hurricanes in June.
But Caribbean people are much better prepared with experience infrastructure etc than Florida.
Instead of Florida, NY or Texas should have been given extra games in hindsight but I understand
that ICC was advised against using Florida in the first place.
Oh well.
WI safe so that is all that really counts lol

Agreed - it is dodgy to play cricket in the spring in NY and especially FL in the spring (Mar 21 - June 20).

The better weather at this time of the year would have been TX or CA.

It's pretty much rain every day in south florida from June to September. It's not usually all day however. This year we got like 20 inches of rain in 2 days. Don't think covers would have made much difference in this situation. It's been raining since Tuesday and only stopped todau

Correct. No ground around the world would play be possible with that amount of rain.
