birdseye 2024-06-23 00:44:53

Leon Bailey se him don’t want to play – and Dujuan Whisper Richards is also being kept out by Mr Butler, Bailer adopter - a so me hear. Bailey should be excluded forever

imusic 2024-06-23 00:49:24

Good luck tonight Yard.

Mexico aren’t what they used to be

hubert 2024-06-23 01:03:48

In reply to birdseye

Disappointing stuff allround here...Lowe not starting tonite..Yard should do well though
as Mexico missing key guys.

Cricket_101 2024-06-23 01:03:53

Let’s go Reggae Boyz

hubert 2024-06-23 01:08:49

Yard players are lost and can't keep possession...oh boy..no midfield yet and defence shaky.

hubert 2024-06-23 01:34:46

Boyz settlinng down a bit with more intent on their passing and Gray and Nichoison
are more involved..a good sign

hubert 2024-06-23 01:37:30

Boyz seem to be playing with a firm back 5.

But central defender Palmer just gives away a kick in dangerous spot

Cricket_101 2024-06-23 01:42:37

In reply to hubert

They look disorganized… have to be more focused in second.5.

imusic 2024-06-23 01:50:22

Jamaica sits back and defends ok……but there is no cohesion in midfield and therefore no real link up with attack

Worryingly for RBZ fans…..while the defence isn’t under a ton of pressure……they just kick the ball away when there’s the semblance of pressure invariably just giving the ball back to Mexico

On a side note….interesting to see a black guy (Quinones) play for Mexico. Saw him play for them in friendlies. Think he plays for America in the Mexican league.

hubert 2024-06-23 01:57:07

In reply to imusic

On point...defense just lick aimlessly too often..Boyz lacking in coordination and midfield
players are not serving much purpose ..Quinones is an omality where the Mexicans are concerned. First time
I am seeing an African on their team but he is a good player and uses the ball well and always a threat to to
full backs.

Mexico has got some good looks at goal even though Boyz are packed up in defence.
0-0 at half is a fair standoff so far and once again Boyz are way behind on possession..
They have to lift their game and show something or this campaign will be over quickly.

A Jamaican descendant played for Mejico before.
Think is last name is Brown, Yardiev"Grampa"
He was interested in being a Yardie youth coach bit it never happened

In reply to Brerzerk

You right...forget about him..Quinones looks straight out of Africa smile

Cricket_101 2024-06-23 02:18:59

hubert 2024-06-23 02:24:19

Opportunity lost ..right back should have sent Gray the ball instead of shooting long range.

Discourse 2024-06-23 02:25:07

How the hell could Antonio find himself off side their. Terrible negligence their and let off for Mexico.

hubert 2024-06-23 02:27:13

In reply to Discourse

Boyz defense making too many unforced errors allowing Mexico to fire on goal.
Some play by errors are pathetic,,,how long before they concede a goal ?

Quinones comes close from anotghwer turnover and sloppy defense play

hubert 2024-06-23 02:32:16

Come coach take off no. 22...he just kicks for kick sake as a defender.
Always finding the opponent.

hubert 2024-06-23 02:36:17

Quinones came close again, but corner...desperate defending as Mexico pressing hard.

Cricket_101 2024-06-23 02:39:03

That mexico goal should never been.. poor clear and defense

hubert 2024-06-23 02:39:12

Goal was inevitable...this defense is a clown show ,unorganized and awful..../Mexico 1-0 up

This coach is not the answer...Lowe on now..but he should be a starter. Lots of muck up with the players on show. Some
should not be on squad.

Was on the cards for ever.. this coach aint up to snuff with who he has on the field.
No way Lowe should be on bench ,for a start. Defense only believes in kick and hope.lol

Let me go watch Australia and Afghanistan at cricket.evil

Joke ting from the coach!

Giving Dixon 10 mins!

Coach is like Sammy, not knowing when to make changes!

This man's son played for Mexico over 100 times.

His son is Giovani dos Santos

Of course, there's the already mentioned Melvin Brown, who is of Jamaican descent. He only played for them 10 times though.

Not as 'obviously black' as him, though...

JoeGrine 2024-06-23 04:06:58

1. Jamaica player of the game : Lembikisa
2. Coach Grim - your days are numbered, get the necessary support around Ravel Morrison so that he can return to the fold. Your primary school level midfield is putting strain on the defense. There are enigmatic talents you just have to find a way to get them on the field. I would play Ravel's jersey ahead of Palmer.

FanAttick 2024-06-23 04:07:46

In reply to JoeGrine

Agreed. Ravel is needed urgently

Good info.Tenks . No wonder we rarfely ever beat Mexicosmile

camos 2024-06-23 10:47:42

Our failure was a coaching error; why was there a need to change a defense, that looks the best in the last five years?

dayne 2024-06-23 14:45:16

I did some research, Quinones is actually Colombian, there are very very few people that look like him who are Mexican born. Good for him making it on an international team, I wonder why he chose Mexico over Colombia.

It is much easier to make the Mexican team.

Was the game that bad, not worthy of your rating?

lol

Jamaica were edged 1-0 by Mexico in their Copa America 2024 opener in Houston, Texas on Saturday. The Jamaica Observer’s digital sports coordinator, Rachid Parchment, took in the action.

Here are his player ratings for the game.

Jahmali Waite – 8/10 – Jamaica’s best player on the night. Showed quick reflexes and good positioning to make a number of crucial saves throughout the 90 minutes.

Di’Shon Bernard – 6/10 – Didn’t do anything wrong but nothing outstanding either.

Joel Latibeaudiere – 6/10 – Made no glaring errors but seems to still be adjusting to how this team plays. Positional play could be improved.

Ethan Pinnock – 6.5/10 – Partnered Bernard and Latibeaudiere well. Decent performance.

Dexter Lembikisa – 7/10 – Jamaica’s best player after Waite. Tracked runs well, made good tackles and was quite active in attack. Excellent cross provided for Michail Antonio to head into the back of the net — a shame it was offside.

Greg Leigh – 6.5/10 – Worked hard up and down the left side all night. Did his best to contribute both in defence and attack.

Kasey Palmer – 6/10 – Got forward and in good positions to provide a goal threat but had moments when he was dribbled by too easily.

Bobby Reid – 5.5/10 – Arguably could’ve have done better to close down Gerardo Arteaga and prevent Mexico’s goal. Another performance well below his standard but still being asked to play a role he does not look comfortable in. Found himself too deep for too much of the game for such an attack-minded player.

Shamar Nicholson – 4/10 – Excellent John Cena impression. No one could see him all game. Hope the bus didn’t leave without him.

Michail Antonio – 5/10 – Just better than Nicholson. Lost some duels and didn’t put himself about enough. Did find the net but was unfortunately offside.

Demarai Gray – 5/10 – Uncharacteristically quiet game from him.

Substitutes
Damion Lowe – 5/10 – His introduction to the game had little effect

Michael Hector – 5/10 – Also had little effect.

Kaheim Dixon – 5.5/10 – Tried to make an impact but 10 minutes and the level of opponent made it difficult.

Renaldo Cephas – 5/10 – Also introduced in the 80th minute as Jamaica chased the equaliser, but was unable to make a difference.

Heimir Hallgrímsson – 4/10 – The team defended well throughout but offered little in attack. Approached the game in a safety-first, timid way and his tactics lacked imagination. Hard to understand why he is still playing Route 1 football with so many technically adept players on the team. Baffling defensive substitutions moments before the goal, when the game was there to be won.

I just didn't think the game was worthy of being rated. The midfield is a disaster and Coach Grimm must be a mad man to think (a) Palmer, Anderson and Johnson are creative players at this level (b) clogging the middle with......cloggers will make the flow of the ball from goalkeeper to forwards smooth. Since the removal of Ravel Morrison Antonio has been anything but the player he was in the national colors, does that not tell Grimm that he had to make changes?

camos 2024-06-23 22:59:03

Pinnock played a good game, better than the score given.
