Protestors storm Kenya parliament.

VIX 2024-06-25 14:40:48

A section of Kenya's parliament is on fire, minutes after protesters broke through police lines to storm the complex.

Live footage on local television showed smoke coming from inside the complex.

There have been reports of people being wounded as police fired rounds to disperse the crowds.

Don't worry misfits, no great mericans affected.

What is conveniently left out of the report is which financial body pushed the Kenyan Government to install the higher taxes on basic food in order for the government to get debt-relief. It is the IMF, wherever and whenever they get involve in a Third World country's finances they cause hardship for the common man.

Kenya has a cost of living crisis and also massive corruption. the fact that its still held up by the west as an example of a successful African state shows you all you need to know about the relationship between the two worlds. Ironically, you won't hear about any of these sorts of thing in places like Tanzania, Botswana(although the current president is loud mouth antagonist), until recently Senegal and Somaliland

Explain Kenya's massive corruption. One of the few countries to ever arrest a Finance Minister yet after that it got ranked 3 points lower.
Compare that with what transpired in the Trump admin with Pence having to be helicoptered from Trumps Irish hotel to the capital for meetings.
Trump being bribed by the golf gulf oligarchs and his son-in-law getting an unvetted $2B in anticipation of another Trump presidency

Kenya's president withdraws controversial tax proposal that sparked deadly protests

Brerzerk 2024-06-26 16:56:41

Sadly part of Kenya's problem is a somewhat disguised 'tribalism.'
Vast regions vote based on ethnicity, Ruto is from the ethnic group that has
mostly been out of power and some don't like that and are quietly being puppeteers to the unconscious masses. (Yardies will remember Seaga's 'gas strike')
Some of the now opposition are still upset about the former Finance minister being charged for corruption and don't mind a lil instability to hurt Ruto.
Now, all from both sides now have lots of blood on their hands.
