You cannot have a fair tournament when one team is allowed to play all its matches at the same time,
Why this was rigged is irrelevant.

This T20 cricket WC is a complete farce
Which team is that? And what do you mean by “play all it’s matches at the same time”?
In reply to Chrissy
I called it out from day 1.
I considered that starting at 10.30 was really really bad for our West Indian and N. American fans, but for the big 3, but most suitably for Indian fans and the sub continent fans it was prime time.
A WC should not have made that adjustment to suit the market.
India was the only country that knew where they were going to play, if they made it to the Semis- for me this is the biggest sin.
Having said that, the Indian team is playing splendidly and seem unstoppable- they did not need ICC help.
I turned off the TV when I saw the "President" of Guyana rubbing shoulders with the son of RSS/BJP big wig.
In reply to Chrissy
Been saying it from the beginning then they say the other team signed on for it. Imagine they are trying to make the argument that India is the biggest TV market and blah blah blah
But the IOC doesn't say ok the US is the biggest TV market so let's put all their runners in lane, 4,5,6 and also let them only run when it's primetime in the US. They just try to apply fair play to all. So if the games are hosted in Russia and the time is 8am Russia time you better either wake up or stay up to watch it.
The arguments posted seemed solely based on economics, but guess who will be the only ones benefitting the Indians. The funny thing is the other members of the Big 3 England and Australia, just now you hear them starting to complain cause they are out of the tourney. So for them, they are sounding quite hypocritical.
I do hope SA beats the Indians tomorrow, more cause they are the underdog, and two so that they can show they get away from the chokers label and next to really show that as unfair man does want to be sometimes the universe does be, hold my beer.
Alyuh suck it up. Sports is big business and eyeballs are what matters where the mighty $$$ is concerned...
WI should have boycotted this event..
In reply to Kay
Then they should play this tournament only in India, if India and their fans are the only consideration.
In reply to SnoopDog
Correct..what's the Caribbean's relevance to international cricket ?
In reply to Khaga
Why?
What does time matter...in the end, you still have to win your games
How does India gain an advantage vs the other teams playing at 10:30am?
In reply to SnoopDog
Exactly I think moving forward all ICC events should be played in India, have them scattered all over the country. Let them also decide that they dont' want Pakistan part of it so they'll approve the visas like a day before the first game.
In reply to Khaga
Cricket isn't relevant outside of India anyways.
Hence why they should only have these types of tournaments there.
In reply to positiveg
India will also mandate what time you will have breakfast and what you have for breakfast before getting ready to watch those games on TV..
In reply to SnoopDog
Well, all teams were aware of the playing conditions when they sign on. The regulations specifically stated:
Article 16.10.6: “NOTE: If India qualifies for the semi-finals, they will play in the second semi-final scheduled for Guyana on the 27 June 2024.”

The 10:30am start was about the inconvenience to locals of that start time.
The fact that one team was able to dictate and pick and chose the venues for where they played obviously was to that one team's advantage.
Imagine if Brazil was able to pick and chose all the venues and times they played in a FIFA World Cup, including in a semi-final. Would never happen.

How can a World Cup of any sport have a special consideration for ONE team and one team only for a World Cup tournament?
The other teams signed on because they had no choice. The ICC is financially beholden to the BCCI.
Hence why if this is always going to be the case going forward it would make sense for these types of tournaments to be held only in India.
In reply to SnoopDog
Exactly it doesn't operate without the BCCI.
Other countries in World Sport put more money in than others, but you never see it where they are shown such favouritism as what you see going on with the BCCI and the ICC.
that's my thing I just want it to be a level playing field. Don't know when that will happen again Cause the BCCI will get a lion's share of the revenue so they will keep getting bigger and bigger. But hey eventually Goliath does fall eh just don't know who the David will be.
In reply to SnoopDog
That was my point ......
In reply to positiveg
I hear you.
But the solution is simple. Every cricket World Cup should be in India.
Outside of India, cricket is a small market. That's why they are desperate for it to succeed in the States. Because the way things are at the moment it is not sustainable.
In reply to Kay
The point is obvious.
The issue however it that when an entire sport and its governing body becomes beholden to one market and one country it loses it's legitimacy.
In reply to positiveg
All my life I have got out of bed to watch international sports. They cannot be rigged for market reasons.
The US networks sometimes show events delayed but do not rig the system like this.
In reply to Chrissy
Exactly NBC sports which will be broadcasting the Olympics will show the major matchups for the various disciples at a delayed time to suit their market.
yet India decides when it plays. Just like how they decides who they want to play and when soon they'll decide that all the money should be given to them. Hence why I'm glad when our players make a payday over there in India all cause I want them to become financially sound but I think soon it will become like a plantation-like system where we start to play for our masters.

Give Jack his Jacket! Irfaan is large and in charge!

In reply to Chrissy
the whole tournament is a farce
- poor transportation ( teams stuck in airport)
- poor pitches
- limited crowds
The jamaicans were right in staying far
In reply to Kay and KHAKA
That is not true, as Positive, SnoopD and others have pointed out with facts to succor their comments.
Surry'-a... your Red Herring fallacies and distractions cannot cover the hypocrisy.
(I)ndia (C)ricket (C)ouncil run things
I was turned off this tournament before it started. To play a world cup in the West Indies during the rainy season just so that IPL could take place when the IPL owners wanted was the first farcical decision.

Why do you think our clowns messed up our four day competition.
In reply to Chrissy
How do you expect “our” players to be paid, exclusively by the CWI????
CWI has no choice but to toe the line of their pay masters!
In reply to Chrissy
it would be good as people that has been around for a while, if we can contain our biasness and simple accept when a team is good, also every county new where they were going to play
depending on how they were progressing, regardless what is said, you still have to go out there and win your matches
In reply to StumpCam
also wi need India to tour to make money
so cwi gotta go with the programme
much ado about nothing, cricket still have to play in the middle. Do we know if any other team/s had any requests that agreed to or denied? Cant blame the people if they plan well and or negotiate better. We can learn
I thought this discussion was about changing playing/viewing times of a global tournament to suit one country...something never done before.
Ah does read some shyte on this board sometimes. WI had 6 night games and one day game on a Sunday and cud not fill any of the venues dey played at. But we expect dat a sensible business person will rely on 6 million of these people to maximize the return on investment? Allyu shudda put together and purchase de media rights and wud den be able to dictate who played at wat time. Ah wonder if dere wud be any significant change to de fixture.

This!
1030AM start ??????
Pusonally ...I find Bim should Boycott....
they do it arready and it was a success.
The same set saffies them come back again.
This is a stupid argument. You all arguing about a cricket game starting…in the morning?
India provides the largest TV audience (and BY FAR, the largest chunk of revenue). You all do not think the ICC should take that into account? Besides, TV audience in multiple other countries also benefit from the 10:30 am start.
Other games were played at different times. So what? The games were not of consecutive days.
I don't think the argument is whether any matches start at 10:30 am or pm. at least that is not what I read.
Instead, it is about whether a world sports body should give preferential treatment/appeasement to one single nation to start all their
matches at a particular time when that has not been extended to any other. As Chrissy and I stated, it is nothing strange for
sports fans the world over including us to find the means to watch world sporting event staged at what is normal time in the country
it was being played. 10:30 am is not normal time for T20

matches at a particular time when that has not been extended to any other. As Chrissy and I stated, it is nothing strange for
Firstly, I don’t understand the point about preferential treatment. There is absolutely no evidence that the start time favors India and puts other teams at a disadvantage.
Secondly, I cannot think of any other sport where a single team/nation has such a dominant market share. So what’s wrong with catering to the market that finances the sport?
Thirdly, as I have pointed out before, a morning start is better for most of the cricket watching audience—not only India but Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, S. Africa, England, etc. An evening start only favors Australia, New Zealand, and North America. The fact that people are accustomed to staying up late to watch cricket does not mean that the games should be played at night when there is no good, strong reason to do so (e.g. like you need six hours of play).
Finally, yes T20s are not usually played during the day. Why not? Well, they are played at the time that would maximise the…TV watching audience! Like the ICC is doing with the India games!
In reply to Chrissy
My main reason for supporting SA today.
Lets face it, India run cricket. Not ICC.
Even the players bow to the Indians during the matches.
Lets go SA!
In reply to Mustwin
The ICC is India...India Cricket Conference of you can make it IICC. India's International Cricket Conference.
Without it the game would be dead and cricketers at all levels will not have lucrative careers.
